Wow this forum died when the thread cull happened. Anyway...
It's difficult going into those Vinyl-Record-Impulsive-Buyer-Collector-Dump-Auction places where its just filled with a million copies of doowop records and unlabeled 7"s. I feel like I'm in the web of a black widow whenever the owner strikes up a conversation with me and I can't find a non-awkward way to leave the conversation and his vinyl lair without buying anything.
And I keep going back because its right by my bus stop. I go in thinking "there might be something new, I bet" but its always the same Talking Heads album for $40 and the one Yeah Yeah Yeahs album for $30. Oh and an extensive laser disc collection.
I've been in one of these on the Isle of Wight. The guy had about 100,000 records stuffed into this shop. It was so messy in there and apparently the guy had owned the shop in that state for about 30 years. I felt really sorry for him too because the shop was such a mess and he was an old man that ran it by himself and I got the feeling he was probably going to die before he got the place tidied up.
but Elephant's been out of press for many years now I think.
are you joking
[editline]2nd March 2013[/editline]
noooo, i have one and while it looks okay for a cheapo table, it sounds like ass!!
You could replace shit on there, like take it apart and remove the preamp and stuff but it really ain't worth the hassle for such a turntable.
okay? mine sounds fine so whatever

Poor form.

are you joking
The last one was in 2008. Five years ago.
that's when pressing started. it is still being pressed
that's when pressing started. it is still being pressed
First press was 2003.
when the pressing started for that pressING. jesus christ octo.
[editline]3rd March 2013[/editline]
you see in discogs, if a pressing has "RE" next to it that typically means they are still making them
"re-releasing" white stripes material...
[editline]2nd March 2013[/editline]
the only reason to get that repress is if you're a moron that gets "all colors" or whatever, stupid shit
Well yeah, I'm pretty sure the only people who would get it are people who don't have it already and who would like a cool-looking thing
nah, you still got ebay resellers and the lot
though now that I think of it the white stripes 7"s that came out on black friday haven't exactly been flying off of the shelves. idk

depends on how limited it is, ultimately.
Yesterday I bought my first 4 vinyls. I was at this local fair and some guy was selling shitloads of records. Decided that I might as well buy some of them. Maybe it will be the basis for future collecting, or maybe it will just be a small novelty that I could pass to my grandchildren and stuff life that.
So I bought:
Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon (VG+)
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells (EX)
Jean Michelle Jarre - Oxygene (M)
The Police - Outlandos d'Amour (NM)
Paid ~52 dollars for all of this.
Man that's an upsetting amount to pay for such common records dude but I'm glad you're happy with them
i got the pulp fiction OST yesterday its hella smooth bruh

got the first 2 for about £5 so looks to me like you spent £35 on 2 really old, easy to get albums.

i have that, great album :v:
Shit is pretty expensive out here, so I think it was an OK price to pay for them. Checked some online shops that sell locally (I mean the ones that are situated in my country) and they ask ~23 dollars for most well-known records (The Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, etc.)
i got my wall copy for a quid so i don't know why people should pay over 10 for something that isn't new.

You in Australia by any chance?
Also yeah AK'z you may not see it but Australia does
Australia sucks if anyone wants to know why my collection is entirely cds here is the answer, Zabriskie Point on vinyl cost me about $35 and its not even near mint
You in Australia by any change?
Nope, Lithuania. Vinyls are pretty rare here as far as I know.

Yeah sounds about the same conditions
It's a bit surprising to hear that shit in Australia is so damn expensive. I mean, Australia is a huge and well-known, well-developed place. Lithuania is really different.

Lithuania is very small though. Australia is about 95% nothing and 5% spiders.
If you take out all the desert in Aus you're left with a very small area
furthermore everyone wants to trade here but its so fucking far away that they mark everything up super much
ebay ships cds new with free postage for about $10 and they dont do vinyl like that, that's the fact of the matter
I picked these up yesterday. The ELO album was only $3 and it's in almost perfect condition. Such a great album.
I also picked up Intronaut's "Void" record at one of their shows and also got my Milk Leg single by them in the mail. Really great artwork on that one.
That Ummagumma doesn't look very official. How much was it?
It was only 8 dollars. The records themselves are in good condition. The front cover has a bit of wear as you can see. The rest is fine.
Velvet Underground & Nico
Boris - Heavy Rocks (2011)
The tape is of a local band called Heavens Gateway Drugs.
