only their first two records, black sea, and murmer are any good. everything else is reggae trash
I reaaaaally wouldn't call skylarking reggae
Was walking home one day to my Uni flat and I saw a sign on one of my neighbours front fences saying "Free Records + Books" Took one book about the Holocaust and took all of the records, any of these any good fellas? [thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/slz3.jpg[/thumb]
The vinyl marketplace is probably permanently contracted, but rather than over-serving the superfan, it should pivot toward super-serving the casual fan. Anyone should be able to walk into any record store in the world and buy a standard vinyl copy of Nevermind for a reasonable price, rather than confronting the 180 gram pressing or the deluxe quadruple LP that fishes for their cash from a lofty wall display. In its attempts to scrape profits out of a niche, the business has squeezed its output out of the bins entirely.
http://thewire.co.uk/in-writing/essays/collateral-damage_numero-group-on-the-vinyl-bubble
http://thewire.co.uk/in-writing/essays/collateral-damage_numero-group-on-the-vinyl-bubble
Super true maybe that would stop the elitism I see from some vinyl users as well

sometimes vinyl isn't really worth it these days
yeash
Was having the same conversation with a mate of mine, granted we don't buy a lot of LPs between us. But it's really not worth buying the represses these days, normally you can get an older pressings for second hand in pretty good nick for half the price. Rather than paying the ridiculous sum of money asked for some newly rereleased heavy 200g, limited to 3000 copies, gatefold, commemorative plate, special poster editions for superfans. It almost feels like these aren't actually aimed at people who buy much many records. Which is also my problem with RSD releases, you get all this chatter and excitement from people who weren't fussed about records for the other 364 days of the year, but they're going to go out and buy some daft picture disc that they will probably never listen to [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] Still a sucker for limited edition singles, limited to 500 hand numbered jobbies, but they rarely cost more than £7 or so. Special LPs are almost always for mugs
in all honesty if you're buying formats on basis of cost, CDs are the way to go nowadays, they're majorly dropping in price at most record stores I picked up bjork's debut for $3 the other day and vespertine for a tenner, was good [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] originally I had this plan to go completely vinyl but I'll probably just buy the vinyls of my favourite albums and keep collecting on cd
still hunting for stereolab vinyl
still hunting for stereolab vinyl
emperor tomato ketchup is getting repressed soon/has already been repressed this month idk if its a good pressing or not
still hunting for stereolab vinyl
I found a copy of mars audiac quintet today in my local, but I didnt have enough money so I had to buy a cd of fab four suture instead oh well
still hunting for stereolab vinyl
gl [editline]12th June 2013[/editline]
emperor tomato ketchup is getting repressed soon/has already been repressed this month idk if its a good pressing or not
sposed to be shit, i heard
emperor tomato ketchup is getting repressed soon/has already been repressed this month idk if its a good pressing or not
those current pressings are super overpriced fyi. original presses of most of those records cost roughly the same price ppl have speculated the new stereolab represses are bad quality as well but it's just rhino doing it and they do represses for basically anyone (and overprice them all). don't see why it would be any worse than any other that they do
Picked up these two today. Atheist - Unquestionable Presence Bright Eyes - Digital Ash in a Digital Urn The Atheist album is one of the 2013 represses that just came out. It was $17 and sounds excellent. Not sure why they limited to only 500 copies of each album, but at least it wasn't expensive and sounds really good. Unquestionable Presence came on Yellow vinyl.
emperor tomato ketchup is getting repressed soon/has already been repressed this month idk if its a good pressing or not
i want an original pressing on gold glitter vinyl
first first pressings and ltd edition ones all cost upwards of 70-80 [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] goes for most of their discog excluding their singles which can be around 200 bux to 100 [editline]12th June 2013[/editline] keepin an eye out for that atheist record. real fucking masters of metal
