My brother just came home with Daft Punk's RAM on vinyl as a surprise :D Pretty excited. I haven't even heard any tracks beside Get Lucky yet.
Prepare for disappointment.
Thing is, I don't think the RAM album is all that, but I like the idea behind it. If it was only a little less copycat and plastic sounding, it would be so much better.
The concept of creating modern music through analogue production techniques can be interesting, I just think that Daft Punk were obnoxious and fell way short of what they really wanted to achieve. You summed it up really, it's plastic sounding and doesn't really add anything new or groundbreaking.
it was bad lol also the idea behind it was awful and incredibly arrogant and egotistic as well "we're going to save the world of music!"
well it gives kids something to be happy about... can't argue with that.
it was bad lol also the idea behind it was awful and incredibly arrogant and egotistic as well "we're going to save the world of music!"
Which is pretty much what I've just said.

Some of those Japan albums were ridiculously cheap good finds in record stores. I did cheat with the Kate Bush ones, bought it in a batch which came out to under £20.
Wooh, got my Behemoth "Endless Damnation" vinyl signed by the singer (Nergal/Adam Darski) :3 Number 32 of 50 (666 total) [t]http://i.imgur.com/2b1Lnb7.jpg[/t]

I don't have any Japan records but I picked up Sylvian and Sakamoto's Forbidden Colours single from a charity shop for cheap. I like that song
merry christmas mr lawrence is a very good song, yes
deffo need to find that soundtrack on LP.. dunno if the film is worth seeing though, and it's weird because Bowie is in it and he was a big inspiration for Sylvian's vocal style.
Moved into our new house, living room is a nice size putting a good distance between the speakers and myself [t]http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj640/drtrott/9959fafecafb1924748f2d0131168c1e_zps971128d1.jpg[/t]
mmm mahogany is nice [editline]3rd July 2013[/editline] everyone seems to keep their speakers right near their stereo.. I don't think that's a very good plan. Thing is, when you're playing the record; the bass of the speakers can cause vibration and distortion to show up. Only if you care this much and have anal sphincters clenched but yeah. Someone was walking past while I played a record and their frickin foot stomps added to the music..
With my old turntables they would sometimes pick up vibrations but doesn't seem to affect these. Lot of damping and heavy construction. I can stand in front of them and jump up and down and it doesn't affect them. I would put the speakers further from the turntables but the cable between them is a bit short. I really want to upgrade to a proper Hifi setup, these are just cheap active speakers but they're pretty powerful. My brother has an Onkyo amp and nice floorstanders in my mum's loft cos he's workin in Dubai. Might ask him if I can take them. Also want a new mixer/preamp cos this one's crap
My ideal setup would be: [editline]3rd July 2013[/editline] there should be audiophile places where people can just go to hear music at its VERY best quality. Kind of like a movie theatre but for music. Nobody would bother.
Can I join the club, I got a copy of Oxygene. Everyone has that don't they? Also got a hip hop album and Jungle Brothers' I'll House You 7" for 50p each. Was a nice surprise. This shop normally only has Jim Reeves and orchestra records [editline]3rd July 2013[/editline] Just read my post and I lied I meant Equinoxe
Oh man, I ordered this months ago and kept forgetting about it but it finally came today. It's "Still" by this unsigned band named Dionaea. It's crazy mostly-instrumental metal. A very diverse listen. The record is green with pink splatter, and it came with a handwritten download card and two neat little posters. The link is on their facebook page.
