Any tips for a decent turntable max around 150€, I don't have a lot of vinyls but I've been starting getting a vinyl collection. (currently only got 4 but I like them and I'm actively looking for more of my fav bands.)
Right now I have to use my dads turntable (some old sony one) and it means I can only listen when he's not home since he's always downstairs when home.

try getting along with your dad
Yeah that's where I got my randoms.
I didn't own any of the ones on there & I need some new Dubstep/Garage wax for a night I might play at. All pretty good tunes, the Starkey EP was killer.
Hopefully Chemical wont forget any records in shipping, they're usually pretty good but this isn't the first time a website has forgotten to send me records I ordered.

I need more storage tho, I recently upgraded from a couple of milkcrates to some bookshelves from IKEA and it's already getting a bit jammed in there.
I thought Chemical Records had gone into administration. There was issues with the Black Box label which is owned by Chemical.

Also Akay, I picked up Shaoalin Soul Selection a few weeks ago. One of my favourite recent purchases, is quite expensive but I reckon you may like it

wow it has people it I never expected to see in a compilation like that, RZA knows his stuff.
Yeah it's a really nice collection of songs, brilliant audio quality too

I do get along with him, he just doesn't like my music taste for the most part (We only have a few bands in common like Rolling Stones and such)

If you want a good one your going to want to look for a second hand one. You don't really want to spend that money on a new one, you'll probably end up with something nasty.

Well do you have any suggestions on turntables? I don't really know any good brands as I've only ever tried this Sony one.

The Technics SL1200 is supposed to be one of the best ones you can get second hand but even that may be out of your budget. Good brands are Thorens, Rega, Technics, Pro-Ject. One thing to think about is do you want a semi automatic turntable or is a full manual fine? Sony will do good turntables to but your price range is going to stop you a bit. Do you want it new? or is pre owned good enough?
The old pioneer ones are pretty good
got the first press of dirty by sonic youth today
swell
Obviously not my picture, but I do have this turntable (don't use it right now though cuz the needle's dull as shit and I need to special order new ones):

Technics SL1200's are great for DJ'ing (I own an SL1210 myself) but for casual vinyl playing you're probably better off just getting a cheaper standard belt-driven record player with auto-return and everything.
Kenwood make some pretty decent record players and you can usually pick them up for quite cheap. I got one for free and it's pretty good for just regular playing.

i really really wouldnt recommend using it too much. it takes a way a lot of the adjustability needed for preserving your records during play.
Dear lords of FP vinyl thread, I wish to start a collection of my own, and although there are two shops around that do sell vinyl, none sell actual players. Please, with your experience, direct me through this difficult time, and guide me towards the light of the most quality players that have the least chance of burning a hole in my pocket, for I have no experience- but want to.
Amen
this should give you the right idea: http://i.imgur.com/vWKt1ub.jpg

I'm stuck using a new gen NexxTech LAB-1100 atm because my regular turntable (Technics SL-BD25) also needs parts now, suprisingly decent turntable though, haven't had any problems with it yet.
I feel like I should have asked here first, but I just ordered an Audio Technica AT-LP60 with a ATN3600DLX stylus to replace the stock one. Done good?
you usually cant go wrong with audio technica, but i dont have any experience with that one.
i tend to dislike automatic turntables though, but thats a personal thing. let me know what you think of it.
Cloudkicker just announced a new album.

Damn, I was about to get an Audio Technica AT-LP60 for my first, found a deal for it new for $70, then the price rose $20 overnight. Going to make some money first and research some more before I feel good enough to order it.
I did pick up the Gorillaz Singles Collection, Abbey Road, †, and Audio Video Disco to start me off though which I'm excited for. Any Gorillaz fan know why Demon Days is so rare?
might've been a limited viny release
all electronic whatever records are typically limited because listening to them on vinyl is near pointless since they were all recorded completely digitally
[editline]2nd September 2013[/editline]
though it is become more common practice for electronic music to be released in non-limited format on vinyl since vinyl as a whole is becoming much more mass market

What are you talking about dance music has been put out on vinyl basically always, there have been hundreds of small labels pressing singles in every scene.
[editline]3rd September 2013[/editline]
It's only been in the past decade that clubs have been moving to CDJs as turntables get neglected and not upkept
yes, small pressings are the same thing as limited pressings... you are not even disputing the point I made, so why are you asking me what i am talking about?
Talking to vedi at all is just no fun :(
sorry
Manager to score a decent sounding Aiwa turntable from my mates mum for £20. She threw in the rest of the hi-fi and enough dad rock to drown in for free as well. Selling on the Hi-fi, gonna make a profit.
