Damn, I was about to get an Audio Technica AT-LP60 for my first, found a deal for it new for $70, then the price rose $20 overnight. Going to make some money first and research some more before I feel good enough to order it.
I did pick up the Gorillaz Singles Collection, Abbey Road, †, and Audio Video Disco to start me off though which I'm excited for. Any Gorillaz fan know why Demon Days is so rare?
You can get it for $80 right now. http://www.neweggflash.com/Product/N82E16882999164

i have no idea why the picture is sideways
Before that re-issue of it, I heard it was going for some big-ass-bucks on the internet. It's not one of my favorite records, but I can't help but be impressed by how sad and kind of eerie it is with how not heavy-handed it is. I don't want to say its an effortless effect, but I think it's pretty simple in concept and subtle.
I only have three vinyls: Flash Gordon + A Day At The Races by Queen and the Starlight single by Muse.
Just ordered this...

My favorite post-metal album of all time.

I did pay a good deal of money for it, I talked the seller down from 80 dollars.

New turntable. My parents kept using it to play 45's. :v:
Got MBDTF and The Blueprint vinyls recently, both sound nice.

Hey cool I got the same one! Why did you replace the stock needle though?

Reviews recommended a different needle for better sound. Kept the old one as a spare. My mom wanted an extra one anyway.
Package from chemical records arrived today, only problem is now I barely have enough room to fit all my wax. Time to hit up IKEA
Also got this sweet MF Doom x Ghostface Killah picture disc for about 2 pounds

what room temperature is dangerous for records?
what room temperature is dangerous for records?
Like, don't put them in a tanning bed or a microwave or a room of similar temperature and you'll be alright.
what room temperature is dangerous for records?
i'd say anything above 40 C wouldnt be recommended

It's not going to have a dick on the cover, is it? 'Cause if so I'm gonna take a pass despite how much I'd like it.

of course its gonna have the dick on the cover
it'd be pretty dumb to stir up all that controversy and then not release the actual album artwork on an official release
i for one am excited to have zach hill's penis in my discography.

preordered in a heartbeat
fucking goddamnit, idiot delivery man left Abbey Road and DSOTM out in the heat instead of putting it on my porch? They were only out for <30 mins but they felt a little too warm. Don't know if they're damaged yet but I swear I'm going to get 3,000 refunds if I do
Abbey Road was brand new too

depends who you ordered from
if youre buying either of those records "new" you fucked up already
Abbey Road was from the '08 release, and dsotm was from the 80's, both were okay. Just worrying since it's one of the hottest, humid days here.
The whole process was weird, the amazon info said that Abbey Road was stuck in Compton for a week before it appeared in Indiana, and the carrier kept switching from DHL Global to USPS. Also how I ordered both of those from two different places and they ended up packaged together.
All I know is that dsotm was listed as "very good" when the one I got was practically mint so I'm pretty happy right now
what did you pay
used represses are okay because they are usually $10 for little decrease in quality but if you are buying beatles records new (these days) u r really messin up
I know bro but it was either a really shit quality, scratched up old one for $10 or a sealed one for $15, I couldn't find anything in between so yeah I'll take the sealed one for an extra $5 why not
I mean I may be new to this but is it really that common for people to be afraid of used records / overpaying for "new" big name older albums? Like I said that Dark Side is older than me, plays mint, and was $10 cheaper than any "new" prints

I preordered it as well. I will proudly display Zach Hill's dick beside my turntable.

I don't see the problem with buying records new. Especially with records as common as ones by The Beatles.

people are just too stupid to be aware that these record, used, are even available. $15 aint bad but ive seen people play $30+ for pink floyd represses when originals are in the same store just a few aisles down.

way more expensive than an original with potentially much lower pressing/mastering quality.
I only have a couple modern reissues and they both are inferior to the original record master...
engineered by pillocks, which is weird because there are still some damn good modern music records.
I've got reissues of old reggae albums and they're good quality.
The quality of old Jamaican records can be really iffy.
That's a different variable though. If they were mastered terribly on the original, it would make sense to get a reissue remaster.
There are also thin as heck records that sound bad due to just the cutting rather than the master. Case in point are those old ones which crammed way too much on one side.
