I wasn't even intending to go to record store day, but I ended up in the area near one and decided to pop in an hour after they opened. They actually had one of the only exclusives I wanted (MGMT's Congratulations), but it was ridiculously overpriced at $35. They had around 15 copies of it, so it obviously was not a super limited run. I'll just wait for the price to go down and pick it up later.
I only just found out there's a record store in my hometown, I always go into Brighton to get my records, ah well. Gotta say there were some girls on my Facebook a few days ago posting pictures of some one direction album they got on vinyl. Sitting by my window atm with the thunder outside listening to putrifiers II by thee oh sees, pretty sweet album. Gotta love lupine dominus and wax face
I was in NYC for Record Store Day. Places were mobbed but I still was able to catch a few awesome records at this place in Dumbo called "Halcyon". I'm still not home so these are the albums I got (not my own pics):
I'm leaving for a trip to NYC today and missed RSD :suicide: Anyways, any notable record stores? Last year I went to a couple with my brother but I don't remember their names.

my record store was all out of the cool exclusive stuff i was looking for (the live Tame ep since i went to the show, and the Nirvana Pennyroyal Tea 7'') so i just ended up walking out with Fugazi's Red Medicine. at least that was on the first trip. or it would've been if the friends i was gonna go with later that night didnt take so long picking up like dumb-shiets

I really wanna get more Fugazi on vinyl. The Pennyroyal Tea 7" is going for fairly cheapish right now online by the way. I'd recommend getting it just for the b-side. There was about 6000 pressed so I doubt it'll go up in price any time soon, but I've seen some mint copies on Discogs go for about £50 :v:
Up until this year I've never really been into vinyl, but I've started to get way into analogue stuff. I'm getting a small collection so far, and a decent enough turntable set up until I can afford something beefier. So far I have a few old vinyls, and some soundtracks, but more recently I got the 4 main Boards of Canada albulms. [t]http://i.imgur.com/3mjndE2.jpg[/t] I got "Campfire Headphase" from a record store in melbourne, but they didn't have the others, so I ordered them. They sound absolutely stunning on Vinyl and it was well worth it, I've still got the spare download codes too, and the stickers that come with the albulms. I'm gonna get the EP bundle sometime soon as well, though I'd really love to find their out of stock SKAM releases ("Aquarius" and "Hi Scores") and also "Peel Session".
I got Tomorrow's Harvest back when they put it up for pre-order, and I still haven't gotten round to getting the rest of the represses. I need them.
Tomorrow's Harvest sounds so damn good.
Reach for the dead really sings on vinyl, I dont know what it is
That song just kind of fits I guess. I just wanna hear Geogaddi on vinyl mane
That song just kind of fits I guess. I just wanna hear Geogaddi on vinyl mane
"Gyroscope" and "Dawn Chorus" are absolutely transcendent on vinyl, as are most of the Geogaddi tracks [editline]27th April 2014[/editline] Also, BOC have said that they're gonna release "Hi-Scores" represses on SKAM later in the year, and I really hope that happens soon so I can get a copy.

I got the Peel Session 12" a while back for a fiver, then found copies on discogs for about twenty quid. Good find.

BOC record update [t]http://i.imgur.com/zQCOLan.jpg[/t] The EP's arrived, here's all of them and their stickers. The stickers are rad but I don't want to use them all up on something dumb. Gonna try getting Hi Scores, I really want to hear "Everything you do is a Balloon" on vinyl. Maybe the Aquarius single as well, but its a bit pricey.
anyone got any signed records? [editline]8th May 2014[/editline] I bought a janelle monae LP once, years ago... but it was warped and I had to return it. Little did I realise... the sleeve was ACTUALLY autographed by Janelle herself. :'( I thought it was some special edition with her signature, but she did autograph copies of this album.
I've got a couple signed records. A couple signed by Alessandro Cortini, Jon Bates, and soon with the release of To Be Kind, Michael Gira.
Local record store is closing god fUCK also god Teenage Fanclub - Bandwagonesque and Radiohead - The Bends today. The Bandwagonesque is a first press, got it for £20 mint.
I had three hours between my exam finishing and going to meet my landlord for next year and went looking for a record shop. Picked up The Seer, F♯ A♯ ∞ and Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend! Finally got Godspeed's full album discography on vinyl

I'm getting tired of every record getting pressed to colors. I'm finding myself appreciating plain black vinyl as opposed to the more popular colors. At least, I see "Beer", "xyz-haze", "ox-blood" a lot now. It's just kind of boring.
if companies only press an album on coloured then it's just stupid... If it is a limited edition then it's ok. But some of these albums are released only as a picture disc, which for one isn't as good as plain vinyl because it has other shit mixed into it and it won't last as long.
Pure unadulterated black 180 gram records are great, they feel so classic and sophisticated But there's some cool colored ones out there too, like grey and white mixes.
