is there a list anywhere of reissue labels that don't press from original masters?
Oh god yes.

So the talk talk vinyls are out, they came out a while ago
Thinking I might pick up laughing stock - anyone else bought them?

If the DTP Contain Us box set is anything to go on, this is going to cost waaaaay too much.

The DTP facebook says it's going to be 225 USD and 225 EUR. But that's the super duper edition limited to 150 copies. So I hope the regular one is a bit cheaper.

Rumour has it the label that reissued them is notorious for pressing CD pressings on vinyl rather than the masters. I'd get one of the earlier pressings.

Hm
I heard mark hollis oversaw them himself, I'll have a look

I doubt that tbh, that's what bootleggers would do, not professional companies.
you'd be surprised

haha except no
there is a pretty notorious dutch pressing plant that does some incredibly shitty represses, the store i work at refuses to order anything done by them, even if customers ask for it.
loads of reissues are just the cd pressed onto vinyl, I thought
No way. CDs are converted down to 16 bit from master tapes or 24bit masters. Vinyl is always pressed by the originals unless they're full retarded and use data from a CD to press which is pointless.
That's what bootleggers do, look up Channel Orange on LP.
A mate of mine has cut cd rips to vinyl, they sounded fine but it was a dubplate, as in one track on a 10" disc. Ripped the cd as flac and sent it to a cutting house.

how much would that cost?
£30-40
quite good considering what they have to do

He did it through these people.
They master it and press it and you have it in your hands within a week

they do single records? that's interesting
CD mastering can cause skipping on vinyl if anything is out of phase so its a pretty decent gamble to do such a thing.
How pretentious would it be to make a mixtape for someone on vinyl as a gift though
kinda cool but holy shit
how is that pretentious? it was just be cool and unique
[editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
a novelty at worse
i think it would be a great gift to press someone's music on LP.
