wheres spicy tornado that shit is the bomb
I remember looking that up a few months ago for a nostalgia trip (all the way back to 2011, I think) but the thread ended with the guy quitting his post office job to do the site full-time and ending up plunging himself into debt.
and Ava's Demon is set to update "soon", though at this point I'm a little weary of that promise.
lol yeah ever since Ava's Demon's first kickstarter (which had more weekly updates as a stretch goal...) it's just sloooowed to a crawl. I'm not holding my breath.
Speaking of hiatuses, both Last Halloween and Prague Race are supposedly about to resume regular updates again. LH was on hold while the author worked on some mystery project that was due on the 11th, and PR's artist was apparently busy doing a guest comic for something called TABULA IDEM which she finished on the 9th. So uh hopefully any day now they'll get started again.
Also yeah I started reading Prague Race as well and it is awesome. Same with Kill Six Billion Demons, the latest update of which is fucking cool as hell.
Yeah, weirdly it seems the more a webcomic author tries to sell additional updates to get people to donate to kickstarter or patreon, the slower their comic actually gets.
y'know i went through that list of reccomendations, and there's some great stuff in there. And i kinda went "yeah ok let's just try it i guess" with poppy, and goddamn did that ever turn out to be great.
Fascinating world and poppy and her kid are probably the best written mother/child characters i've ever seen in my life. And the whole racism standin actually works, because it's complicated and understandable. Whereas usually any analogous standin is just mustache twirling irrational dickheads going "HAHAH, WE REJECT YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE DIFFERENT, I CAN NEVER SEE MY VIEWPOINT CHANGING BUAHAHAHA.". Whole thing just feels like one small person in a bigger world, and not just "here's the main character everything revolves around her bye", even though that kinda is what's going on. Really caught off guard with how good it is
Vatuu is exellent also

Yeah, art might look kinda shoddy, but stories are great.
Ruby Quest might be good but I'll never be able to forget how it killed /tg/

I've heard people say this before but I never understood, why and how did rubyquest kill /tg/?

If I had to hazard a guess, it would be that it helped popularized quest threads/CYOAs on /tg/ and other boards. IMO most of them are mediocre and a waste of space on the boards they clog (space that can be utilized by other shitposts, of course) but evidently they've got something that keeps people coming back to them.

If it makes you feel any better, 4chan has a dedicated quest board now.

I'm glad I was able to convert someone. People tend to brush it off because it has animal people it in but it's like my #2 favorite webcomic of all time behind Paranatural.
Speaking of Paranatural, they just introduced a new character and oh my god he's such a dork, I'm in love already.
In bittersweet news, The Adventures of Dr. McNinja is finally over. Good ending, that was a wild ride.
I've had Dr. McNinja as one of my main bookmarks for so long, it going to be sad to know that I'm probably never going to use it again. :saddowns:

It's kind of 50/50 at this point but I hope not.

Except for all the kidnapping, murder, extortion and wearing sunglasses at night.

I suppose I could see something working out where annie gets the psychopomps to save him, but has to do dirty work for them.
One sure thing is that if coyote or court science ends up savig him, hes gonna end up some kind of partial abomiation.

I dont get why they bothered with the purgatory scene if [sp] he wasnt actually dead, unless wait, was that the clone that went to purgatory?[/sp]
I dont get why they bothered with the purgatory scene if [sp] he wasnt actually dead, unless wait, was that the clone that went to purgatory?[/sp]
[sp]Yeah that whole sequence was suppose to be a bait and switch. That was actually Old McNinja in purgatory with Ben Franklin.[/sp]
The last few chapters were great since they had a bit more substance. Like, usually it was "what are they going to come up with next" but it became "how the hell are they going to end this?"
Except for all the kidnapping, murder, extortion and wearing sunglasses at night.
Yeah but i want to live in his world so clearly it was all justified. Great man morality and all that.
I just can't be mad at a guy like this

I like Poppy, especially just the writing and the feeling of the world but Morbi put some weeeeeird shit in there that I didn't notice the first time I read through, especially considering that he's trying to make a comic that's appropriate for a young audience. And he could probably take a few less vacations.
Boy has Gunnerkrigg Court gone through some artstyle changes.
Boy has Gunnerkrigg Court gone through some artstyle changes.
Yea it has. I looked back at ch5 a week or two ago and was stunned to see how different. Its such a gradual change that you dont notice it, and it coincides with annie getting older too, so its like the whole comic grows too.

Like what exactly?
I kinda like the fact that it blends peanuts level slices of life with more adult and serious moments. It feels more like a small window into a big chaotic world more than "here's a charicter who the universe revolves around with constant never changing themes and tone". Plus it makes poppy feel like the small beaten down person she is, and makes the racism analogy actually work, which is extremely rare.
Kinda reminds me of calvin and hobbes that way.

Life isn't thematically consistant. It's up and it's down and it's all over the place. You're just this small creature stuck into this grand unknowable chaotic place. I think capturing that with all it's contrasted themes and events is poppy's strongest features.
I really hate how it just took a hard left and went full lesbian self ship out of nowhere though. The in story justification is actually pretty good but man is it ever questionable
I was referring more to him putting in his fetish of animals with 6 tits

I'm talking 3 sets of boobs here people not just nips

wait what
did i miss something, all i saw was a comic about a vagabond mother and child in a post industrial fantasy world
I'm talking 3 sets of boobs here people not just nips
Oh we're talking animal people here
Yeah that doesn't make sense, either 1 set or none at all.
Seeing as many have already brought up some of my favorites (don't have the time to read as many as I used to, but Girl Genius, Gunnerkrigg Court, XKCD, The Oatmeal, and Power Nap are among the few I try to keep updated on, the last one more due to "okay the fuck is going on" than anything), thought I'd bring up some shit-tier ones that I've suffered through (so you don't have to).
Better Days - aka "Self-Insertion Furry Trash Wank-Fest: The Web-Comic" (though all of Naylor's comics are trash).
Suicide For Hire - could just as easily be called "Edgelord McGee & Friends", featuring astronomical levels of pretentiousness, self-manufactured piety, a level of deep-ness easily surpassed by a damp paper towel, and application of speech bubbles so thick that they're best described as "speech suds" (it's like "Where's Waldo", but garbage, and instead of a crowd you have to sort through vowel movements).
Carribean Blue - Weeaboo-riffic trope-infested featuring such brilliant writing decisions as naming a hispanic mayor "Paco Taco".
MegaTokyo - An incredibly boring self-insertion weeb fantasy story featuring copious amounts of leet-speak and half-assing of half-assed jokes (quarter-assed jokes?) and melodramatic story lines.
You'd be missing absolutely nothing by not reading these.
I remember giving Better Days a chance but gave up on it when the incest shit started, which is to say, pretty early on.
I feel ashamed to admit I liked MegaTokyo when I was in 9th or 10th grade.
