It's a sham. I e-mailed him and told him how I saved my coworker at Wendy's from gallons of boiling oil and I didn't get moderator. Lol, I saved someone's life. :smug:
well the personal experience isn't the only part of the app is it
Perhaps my example wasn't very good. At least it was legitimate, though.
well the personal experience isn't the only part of the app is it
Well, I was making a joke, wasn't I? :commissar:
I haven't sent the emails out yet guys, still got 189 applications to read
Good luck. :biggrin:
Something that is beginning to irritate me is applicants writing that they think the current mod team is shit and want to improve it, some even going so far to name moderators and list their shortcomings. These "shit mods" are going to be their superiors and coworkers, if they can't work well together then I'm going to side with the "shit mods" rather than them. It's almost as if these people don't think before they write shit
woops
Oopsies!
207/335 to go Doing them at a rate of about 20 an hour, varies a lot as some of them are long and others aren't. Some require a lot thought regarding whether or not they should be put through, others don't. Some trends I've been noticing are;

Applicants saying they've moderated forums, then said the forums have disappeared since. A LOT of applications say this. I think so far there's only been two people who are currently moderators on forums, neither of which are anywhere near as big as Facepunch.
Loads of people quoting experience in game server moderation
Large amounts of 13 - 16 year olds applying.
There are actually a lot more females on Facepunch than I initially thought. They just don't say they're female when they post.
A lot of applicants citing internet encounters as their "difficult situation"
Many applications tell tall stories or contain information that has been blatantly fabricated in order to make the application look better. I would prefer that people be honest - that way I can pick the best applicants to be a moderator. Lies on applications are counter productive to the well being of the forum which is what Moderators are there to promote.

Aah wicked, I only fall into section 1 & 3!

170/335
You're really working hard on this, huh?
I moderated The Dazzle Club. It ruled.
lol, funny one here;
Recall an occasion when you have been in a very challenging or difficult situation and had to make a decision that perhaps others disagreed with. Tell me about the situation and why you felt it was difficult; Saying something about my character in the World of Wacraft forum only to have GeeBee (the section troll, in my opinion) shoot me down with flaming. I felt it was difficult because I had nothing to say or do or have any rebuttle against it.
In case you didn't bother to google the assessment question, the question was taken from the UK police application pack. It is supposed to gauge how much life experience the candidate has, as well as how well they react to situations and their thought process behind it. It also shows what they judge to be "difficult" situations. The vast majority of Facepunch candidates decided to pick internet squabbles as their situations.
To bad I missed a great opportunity.

Good thing I'm in the minority that has listed a real life squabble.
i used a real life experience as well but i'm not sure if I went into enough detail, guess that's for hezzy to decide
i used a real life experience as well but i'm not sure if I went into enough detail, guess that's for hezzy to decide
Well it's better than talking about WoW I bet.
I can name off a few life experiences but I absolutely hate those vague questions I ended up filling this out a few weeks ago as practice for my job applications (which went well, got an on campus job) they asked the same sort of stuff on these apps - asking about prior experience, testing for applicant's intelligence and workability with those around him, and the decision making process a hell of a lot for an 11.50 / hr job [editline]02:17AM[/editline]
Well it's better than talking about WoW I bet.
no way everyone can connect to having their lvl 58 mage getting insulted :((
I don't know what to think about my app, I definitely put work into it, but I'm not sure if it's as good as some of your guys's :frown:

I'd probably say that this application would be more difficult than some job applications, I purposefully made it hard by putting the Police assessment question in there. The few people who will get through will be good candidates, as long as they're not idiots when they post. The few people who get through will have probably sufficiently answered the Police question to an acceptable, taking their age and stuff into consideration. There's also a few applications that did well in the first bit but not great in the second bit. 164 to go
Just a random question Hezzy, but do you even consider people who have had no experience what so ever with moderation?
Just a random question Hezzy, but do you even consider people who have had no experience what so ever with moderation?
Yes I do. Moderation doesn't require any special skill set, just the correct attitude.
post every two seconds how many applications you have left.
I thought the question about an experience was specifically asking about an internet experience. I failed.
Doing some great work Hezzy. Not much free time in your time, eh? After having written that big fucking essay and everything.
Just a random question Hezzy, but do you even consider people who have had no experience what so ever with moderation?
Why did you apply? You are furry and gay.
34 to go someone in answer to the assessment question;
I was working and was instructed to mop the floor a certain way. It required me to have to change the water twice. I thought of a better way that would only require the water to be changed once. A couple of employees told me I shouldn't because the manager wouldn't like it. So I composed the idea to the manager and he accepted it. Now everyone does it the way I do.
