There is no current evidence to bring forward the idea and possibility that a divine creator exists. Even thinking that aliens sparked the creation of our universe is no different from the common belief of a god creating everything, there is no single form of evidence to deem it as a possibility nor enough as a proposed idea. It's common human nature to find an answer in things we were unable to understand in the past. We live in modern times now with science forwarding our cause and finding answers we previously were unable to comprehend.
My point is this thread is not a debate. Debate invovles an intelligent discussion. All I see here is "God can't be real, it's illogical!", there are some good posts however.
If you think i'm pretentious because I suggested to read up something then you are the one who is stuck up.
Just provide some evidence in favor of the argument that god exists and then there can be a debate..until then, it's all just unproven, illogical ideas that have no place in a rational discussion. I choose to believe that burning bushes don't talk to people and neither do snakes, because the evidence of the natural world proves that bushes can't talk. I choose to believe that earth is 4.5 billion years old and not 6000 years old, because geological evidence (radiometric dating) provides proof of this. Archeological history also shows that the Abrahamic god is just an evolution of previous mythological deities who came before it.
If you want to believe in those things, then you're entitled to believe what you want, but that doesn't mean it's true.
Honestly even the best theistic arguments I've seen revolve around selectively quoting the bible, selectively deciding when something is or is not a metaphor, and selectively interpreting passages to mean what they want it to mean. At the end of the day none of them provide any solid evidence whatsoever that god exists.
Got done with covering religion in Ethics a week ago.
It's impossible to come up with a definitive answer because there is no evidence for the disproving of the existence of God yet there is no evidence for proving that there IS a God.
Really, it all depends on your beliefs.
However, the same cannot be said for Creationism Vs Evolution and other feats that this God has supposedly accomplished. That's something I can voice out on if the thread ever arises.

And nobody ever will.
but of what actual value is that statement, "The truth will never be known"?
It sounds all mystical and important when you say it, but by the standards you're using thousands of things fall under things that will never be known.
Does it sound as esoteric when you say "Leprechauns. The truth will never be known."? Because the situations are identical in terms of evidence and whatever the hell "evidence for the disproving" is.
I just find it odd that any theistic person could ever at any time think someone is crazy when they believe in some idea, thing, or event with as much evidence as their God has, IE none. What else is a matter of belief? Are fairies, ghosts, and djinns acceptable? What about the mystical planet of Nibiru, just beyond the range of all of our sensing equipment? Is that a matter of belief? What about spiritual healers? Do you have any proof that they don't work? And if you do, do you also have proof that that isn't just because the person's faith wasn't strong enough? If not, who are you to say it's wrong for someone to take their children to one instead of a doctor. After all, it is a matter of belief, right? And who are you to command what is true and what is not?
Do you get what I'm saying? Belief is a fickle thing that can be twisted to work for anything, at any time, for any reason. An idea that can only be supported by belief alone is like a house that can only be supported by toothpicks.
I'm pretty certain he doesn't exist, but I'm not totally opposed to the idea.
I think religion was a way for mankind to deal with the unknown, and it helped us advance as a society because of the basic "good" it made people, but religion being true is far fetched.
He might exist and he might not, but i don't believe in him.
If there is any god it would be aliens.
Ok I tried to come off as superior but mostly to inspire an improved discussion and cut off everyone who used the argument of "proof" and "logic".
Yup, I guess there is no point
But there is a truth, a logical explanation. God is only real inside of our heads. And that's pretty much it. It's an artifice to control people, and that can be both good and bad.
