It's an average movie that doesn't hold up well against Raimi's original. The cast is somewhat better here.....
I really loved this movie. So much better than the Raimi films. They do do some small story changes with peter. I for one loved the alter to uncle Ben's death. [sp] he dies because of living up to great power = great responsibly, instead of being a random casualty [/sp]

I think Rami's films can't stand up over time. Looking back, I really don't like the old franchise. It's kinda mediocre in every way except supporting cast. Willem Dafoe and J.K. Simmons were perfect for their respective roles. This one, though, had such excellent character development, casting, writing, and acting that I can't really imagine it any other way now.
I'm honestly amazed people are claiming the Raimi films hold up at all. The Amazing Spider-Man does EVERYTHING better. EVERYTHING.
So can we get a little discussion about who the guy at the end was?
[sp]Norman Osborn.[/sp] Saw it and all I have to say is HNNNNG Emma Stone
Just saw it this morning. It was amazing. [sp]I feel like the man in the shadow's hat had something to do with his character, there was really no giveaway at all to who he could be...[/sp]
Really fucking liked this film. I mean seriously. Cinema was in hysterics a lot. Garfield is a fantastic Spidey. Somebody said as we left "They made Spider-man cool again". [sp]Also regarding the guy after the credits. We all said Norman Osborn. Loved the constant mentions to his crumbling empire and impending death. If that was him at the end, whoever they've hired has the 'crazy Goblin' mannerisms down perfect.[/sp] [editline]4th July 2012[/editline] Rotten Tomatoes is showing critically this film is getting kinda panned. But audience wise is doing very good. Ramis film was praised by critics. Audience wise did terribly. Annoyingly the rotten reviews mostly say the movie is amazing and enjoyable. Better than the Rami film. But they give it a low score JUST because it's a reboot. I guess while we're at it let's give Dark Knight Rises a bad review because I've seen Tom Hardy in a movie one time. Let's not even go see the next Iron Man because I've seen 2 others. Let's stop being so impartial and criticise a movie just because something that happens all the time happened.
Man, Martin Sheen killed it as Uncle Ben. He was so likeable and relatable in this film. [sp] I actually almost cried when he died, even though I knew it was going to happen. It still Caught me off guard. Unlike in Spider-man 1 where I was just like "Uncle Ben died, yep now here comes the spider-man parts". That Voice recording also made me teary eyed.[/sp] Spoilered. Even though it should be obvious. I loved this movie, It blew Rami's Spider-Man films out of the water.
Come on, Rami's movies weren't bad. They were fantastic for the time, and still are pretty good. The second one at least was great.

If you judged movies by reviews from critics on Metacritic, Avengers would be a horrible movie.
I thought the film itself had a fantastic message on morality surrounding issues like genetic experiments and a statement on the power of father figures ([sp]Shame they cut the scenes with Connors kids[/sp]). Along with the America Vs Terrorism message that was present in Ramis films (Villains target landmarks, lingering shots of american flags Spidey flies pass). Except this film didn't annoyingly flaunt it in your face. Ramis films were great fun feel-good films. Just awful Spidey films.
I'm not saying they were bad. I'm just saying this one is better.
I'm going to be honest. I really can't even bring myself to consider that this movie is somehow better than the originals. Too much of the movie felt awkward and/or dumb, and too many parts were played for laughs. Yeah I know, it's a Spiderman movie, so it should be silly, but there is a fine line between silly and just stupid. The first two movies had a beautiful mix of comedy and seriousness, only starting to screw that up in the third movie, where things got really dumb. This one just didn't seem to know when to take things seriously, or when to stop making a joke drag on. Well, at least not until the end, where the stakes were raised and we got to see more awesome fights. I wish the rest of the movie was more like that. Also, Peter didn't really seem like Peter. He just felt like a generic teenager with no real personality.
Gotta say as much as I cherish Raimi's trilogy this one blows them all away. Garfield makes Parker such a likeable, realistic character I absolutely loved it. Everything about the film just felt so right.
Just came back from watching this. Amazing.
lingering shots of american flags Spidey flies passs.
Dunno if you noticed it but there was a huge and clear shot of the American flag in this one :v:.
Haven't watched the movie yet but a lot of people say this essentially is very good but doesn't do anything new. I'm okay with this but is it true ?

Go watch it.

The biggest thing that keeps me away is the 3D though. I freaking HATE the whole fad because I find it tiring and it often drags the attention away from the actual movie. It's so overpriced too.
Rhys says the man who visits him in the after-credits is not Osborn

Mass effect
I suppose having The Illusive Man as Uncle Ben is another thing I liked about this movie. :v:
Saw this movie just then, it was very good. Garfield made this movie much more enjoyable than the other ones, Toby Maguire constantly seems depressed.
Andrew Garfield is the perfect man for this role. Goddamn the movie was fantastic.
I like how Emma stone dress herself. Looks just like the comic book Gwen.
