just turn 18 and you'll be all good
apparently anything you do outside after 11PM is destructive which would be the best public urination ever
It's for your safety because all the drunks and shady folks are out and about late at night. Besides, if the cops stop you, just say you lost track of time and you're on your way home. They don't give 2 shits if it's past your bedtime or you're sneaking out of the house (like the rebellious teenager you are), they just want to make sure you don't get shot or abducted.
it hardly matters, because before you know it, you will be eighteen, and then before you know it again, you will be dead. we are all in a massively accelerated state of decay, we are all temporary little flecks of cosmic dust thrown forth into a massive, complicated universe that has existed longer than the entire scope of human kind to an exponential degree that is not possible to portray with our pathetic number system and, too, will continue to exist for an unimaginable amount of time after every single person in this thread has died and returned to the elements and everything else we have ever known, every single little bit of history and human creation on earth has returned to dust, ceasing to exist and, in the eyes of the rest of the universe, never having existed at all.

I don't want the law to exist. I'm not willing to give up my rights for added security. You must have supported the patriot act like the proper american you are. They just wanted to make sure you don't get shot or abducted by terrorists, right? Nothing wrong with that. Go to South East Asia I'm 14 and I sneaked into a fancy night club (in Chiang Mai) without paying and showing my ID and reaped the benefits of New Years :D The benefits were: grinding HOTTIES Whiskey-Cola Cigarrettes Groping Babe's asses and money makers Experience of an epic night club :D Read my New Years countdown experience: http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1044316-My-New-Years-Countdown-Experience
Curfew's give police a bigger e-peen.
Can anybody explain to me how exactly all these youth curfew laws were passed without teenagers actively resisting the denigration of their civil liberties? It's new years eve, and since I'd been staying up late I figured I'd go grab a bite to eat down the street. I wasn't arrested or anything, but before leaving I decided to check if there was a curfew enacted for teenagers. It turns out in the state of florida, along with just about every state in the country, legislation has been created that allows counties to enact curfews that restrict the movement of minors. In my state, there's a single widespread curfew that encompasses all of the counties; let's take a look-
Are you implying that teenagers are actually people? As a legal adult I love curfew laws and any laws that limit the rights of teenagers.
I find it hilarious that the US claims to be the the world centre of freedom when they have a history of curfew and probation.
You don't have rights until you're 18 broceratops.
You don't have rights until you're 18 broceratops.
Who needs rights when you're in Cambodia :smug:

These types of laws only exist to really detain suspicious characters that happen to be minors. Seriously, why do you need o be walking around outside at 3:00am? It's not very safe for anyone under 18, and there is most likely no reason. Yeah we all break these laws, and no one gets caught unless if they're doing something extremely suspicious, so why complain? Riding your bike down the sidewalk minding your own business? I doubt a cop is going to detain you. Stand on a random street corner in a shady neighborhood for no apparent reason? Suspicious.
My 17 year old brother got a ticket for vandalizing, loitering, and curfew all at once about a week ago. Its pretty much for people like him.
We must destroy this abomination of a law and get on with our lives. [editline]1st January 2011[/editline]
You don't have rights until you're 18 broceratops.
Damn straight, I own like 5 child sex slaves.
Who needs rights when you're in Cambodia :smug:
Yeah, who needs rights when you live in a 4th world country?
Oh, and in Canada minors have all the rights of an adult.
Most kids don't learn about laws and politics until they're 16-18 years old in this country. So by the time they're aware of it, it doesn't apply to them anymore and they don't really give a shit about changing it. I'm 18 now and frankly I don't give a shit.
You don't have rights until you're 18 broceratops.
Completely incorrect.
"In our system, state-operated schools may not be enclaves of totalitarianism. School officials do not possess absolute authority over their students. Students in school, as well as out of school, are 'persons' under our Constitution." [Students do not] “shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate.” -- Justice Abe Fortas, Tinker v. Des Moines, 1969

Oh, and in Canada minors have all the rights of an adult.
I'm pretty sure everyone here has the same rights granted by the constitution. Just another rebellious teen trying to shout about how his rights are being repressed because he's not allowed to do creepy shit late at night. Edit: Oh wait that's you... yeah pretty much what I said.
Completely incorrect.
That quote doesn't make exceptions for minors at all. There can still be state laws restricting actions of minors. Sure, minors have some rights, but not the same rights as people 18 and over.
That quote doesn't make exceptions for minors at all. There can still be state laws restricting actions of minors. Sure, minors have some rights, but not the same rights as people 18 and over.
Founding fathers didn't grant you the right to be creepin' around public parks at 3am. Well.. I guess it's somewhat protected by peaceful assembly... Curfew laws are somewhat controversial.
That quote doesn't make exceptions for minors at all. There can still be state laws restricting actions of minors. Sure, minors have some rights, but not the same rights as people 18 and over.
I don't think you understand that the bill of rights protects all american citizens, regardless of age, sex, or race. Minors have the same constitutional rights as a person that is over 18. That is one of the reasons that these curfews that specifically discriminate against young adults are unconstitutional.
If you want to evade curfew laws all you have to do is say you're assembling with whomever may be at your destination.

I've been out until later than midnight in Kissimmee... Nobody gives a shit. I think the curfew is more to add an extra charge to the people who get noticed (ie, the ones smashing shit up and causing a stir) at night.
Then let's see what happens when people bring it to the supreme court on which the youngest representative is 40 years old.
I don't see what this has to do with your false claim that minors don't have the same rights as adults. [editline]1st January 2011[/editline]
If you want to evade curfew laws all you have to do is say you're assembling with whomever may be at your destination.
It doesn't provide exceptions for assembling at your destination, which is why it is a breach of the first amendment.
:smug: California curfew actually meant something a while back, you can have a reason, like maybe running an errand for the parents or coming back from the park or friends etc.
for those people who are like "hurp durp why question it?" well as I have said in past threads the fall of democracy starts slow, yes that statement my sound dramatic for something as "trivial" as this but it is a basic human right to be able to move freely the government has absolutely no legislation over the movement of children, only the parents should
