Don't be rating me 'disagree', she's an old hag way past her time, has no influence or responsibly on our shitty country. she sits in her high chair getting pampered by Indian slaves pretending 2 run everything. There are people who live here really struggling, they've worked all their lives and now have 2 eat out of bins just to survive, yet this old fucking hag sits in a palace getting her buttlers 2 server her a perfect 3 meals a day, what does she do.... she does fuck all except have a 'jubilee' where the whole country is expected 2 serve her shitty ass country that's falling apart... that's what she does.
They should make her live like the rest of us for a week. and those who disagree, your a bunch of fucking chucklefucks
If any of what you or any anti monarchists on here say was true then we would have revolted a long time ago
Like it or not, the vast majority of British people want them and I'm sorry, there's nothing you can do or say that will change that. Fuck, if you did a bit of reading up you'll find the royal family does a lot more than just sit there

Well, she's been on the throne for 60 years and has meet with pretty much every important head of state for those past 60 years. I imagine she can be a wealth of knowledge to any head of state looking for a bit of insight. It's not all about tourism and castles.
jubilee? free day off work, thats all i care about. then she dies, and i get national day of mourning, and another day for the coronation of charles :V
I'm not interested in celebrating as I'm not in any way patriotic and I don't pay attention to anything to do with the Queen.
I'm going to England to visit family in a few days. First time out of the country and I'm happy to be going around this time, what with the Jubilee, Olympics, and 30th anniversary of the Falklands, since I am a history buff. It is awesome that the Queen has reigned for so long, and I wish her many more years of prosperity and God's protection.

Yes of course we have never contributed anything like decent books and music.

I cannot even begin to express how unbeleivably ignorant you are...you have no idea where to even look or how to appreciate it because our culture is absolutely everywhere; and it's amazing.

This is how 95% of England feels right about now, it's interesting to still have a semi-monarchy, but it's difficult not to be apathetic towards the royal family considering they have no direct influence over anything in the country, they're really nothing more than a tourist attraction and conversation starter as others have pointed out.
It would be interesting to have England ran as a monarchy again, go back to our 'roots' sort of speak, it wouldn't work at all but it would be fun for a week or so, seeing modernized stocks at trafalgar square would spice things up a little.
Watched the queen's coronation this week on TV, particularly interesting was the part where Prince Phillip knelt before her and vowed to be her consort. Something inside me died when I imagined Camilla doing the same thing for Charles.
honestly, i think you've got to be a fairly boring person to find a city like london bland.
there really is so much to do, different types of things to do, i cannot understand how it could be boring.
though, if all you did was go around a few stuffy museums and 'landmarks' i'm not surprised you thought it was shit.
i can easily understand apathy towards the royal family, i feel pretty apathetic about it myself, but what i can't understand is the (british) people who have just get so angry about it. if you hate the royal family, our culture, and everything else about this country then what are you still doing here? britain is no paradise, but i'd like to see how you'd fare in a country without a lot of the things that we take for granted.

i think a lot of people claim to hate the culture, but realistically they probably just want to see an improvement. the 'we take a lot of stuff for granted' may be true, but there's still alot of un-necessary stuff that goes on behind closed doors in our country, and regardless of how advanced we may be in comparison to some of the world it's no reason not to improve ourselves and the country.

Having royal events like this is worth it just to hear the hilarious shit Charles can say and get away with.
It's really interesting because the only people who seem to be "hating" on the Queen/Monarchy are all idiots who don't even know what they do or are purely just jealous.

Well it is certainly possible to oppose the monarchy while still enjoying British culture and identity.
These past few days must have been brilliant for the flag and bunting industry.
Forced to sit and watch horses and boats for hours because the wife thought it was interesting. In response to this I got drunk and started singing "Rule Britannia" at the top of my voice.
Fun times.
How will you be celebrating the Queen's reign?
So you can get a long weekend to casually idolize a monarch?
Pfft. When Americans get long weekends we casually curse our leaders' names. We're pissy like that.
