• Why the fuck don't I learn evolution in school?

Every time they talk about evolution in school somebody always says "I thought God created us?"
let kids decide themselves whether they agree or disagree.
Why? You don't teach biology, physics, geography, or earth science and let kids decide whether they agree or disagree.
It is a theory, like everything else. EVERYTHING...
Everything is a theory Proof is subjective Nothing exists Nihilism Angst Brood Cut self
You realize that a theory isn't just something thrown together in a drunken state right? And is in fact the highest form of evidence in science? Meaning it is close to impossible for it to not be true.
NO! Theory means idea! It's just an idea that evolution happened. Intelligent design FTW.

Created to explain the processes of oxidation - corrosion and combustion - it was disproved by discovery of the fact that combustion is the reaction of fuel with oxygen and that corrosion is caused by oxidation of metals and the formation of compounds. [*] The classical elemental theory (that all substance is made of earth, air, fire and water). Disproved by the discovery of subatomic particles and the modern elements, as we know them today. [*] Aristotle's dynamic motion. It was an attempt at explaining momentum and why certain substances behave in certain ways; it was linked to the concept of the classical elements. Disproved by Galileo. [*] Ether as a carrier of light waves and radio waves. Disproved by study of the dual particle-wave nature of light, which means it does not in fact require a medium of any kind, and the simple complete lack of any evidence for such a substance.(Disproved by the Michelson-Morley experiment.)
Your definition of theory is very much flawed :downs:
Your definition of theory is very much flawed :downs:
No, he's right. A theory is the highest form of evidence in science. Until something better comes along. This is why science is better than belief. Science is an active pursuit of something even more accurate. Belief is not.
I'm Canadian and I was taught about evolution. It's a very simple concept to grasp so it shouldn't take more than a week in class to teach. Hell, a day!

A theory is the "best answer" to a question, and is backed by empirical evidence. If we look at every theory as being "just a theory" then we get nowhere.

The universe is just too big for us to comprehend.
If it can't be dis-proven, it's not science.
The universe is just too big for us to comprehend.
I disagree. We just have to work harder.
The highest form of evidence yes, being close to impossible to disapprove? no And im not talking down, i never do
Where the fuck does he say it's impossible to disapprove?
I disagree. We just have to work harder.
What happen when we do find out how/why the universe works? Will we have anything to live for afterwards?
What happen when we do find out how/why the universe works? Will we have anything to live for afterwards?
Yes, changing how the universe works to suit us better
There you go
Because an adequately supported theory is very very difficult to disprove based on current knowledge. Changes in knowledge and information obviously will change this.
There you go
Those are two different things. It's easy to disprove a theory, just find evidence that invalidates it. However, the chance of a theory being completely disproven is very low.
In the end we're still animals.
I live in Canada by the way. So from any source I think to ask I get the same answer. Evolution is to be learned before microbiology and everything. But in school I am learning microbiology and have never even touched on evolution other than adaption. Nothing about anything that happened in the past just things that could happen now. What the fuck?! Is this because they consider evolution a form of religion or something? Thoughts?
you are over reacting
In the end we're still animals.
And no one has ever said anything different. Not here at least.
In the end we're still animals.
but we have cars vrroooom
In the end we're still animals.
in the end we are carbon-based lifeforms but no one cares
in the end we are carbon-based lifeforms but no one cares
In the end, we're nothing but atoms among other atoms.
but no one cares
In the end, we're nothing but atoms among other atoms.
In the end, for some strange reason, it works.
Here you go.
So I'm the spawn of a retard Fish Frog?! :byodood:
I saw this guy posting in the religion section on the escapist who thought atheists cared and that we were pissed off because society is letting weak people reproduce thus breaking evolution cycle. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/528.184970-Understanding-Atheists
We have a Creation museum in Alberta. A monument to ignorance I tells ya. I mean seriously what the fuck is up with creationism? Maybe if public schools spent a few days explaining how evolution works then we wouldn't have all these idiots believing in bronze-age creation stories instead of modern scientific theories.
