Schools shouldn't teach about theories at all, only facts. You don't learn much, because its a theory and its just words when its a theory, but when its fact, its history.
............................................. You don't know what a scientific theory is lol. Evolution is a fact that is explained by the theory Evolution by Natural Selection. Gravity is a fact that is explained by the Theory of Gravitation. Big Bang is the theory that explains the fact of Universal expansion. Theories do not become facts. In fact, theories are often held to a higher standard that facts and laws because theories are specific claims that explain facts and laws. The theories I listed above have gone through rigorous testing and still hold true, which makes them highly appreciated by the scientific community. notjustatheory.com
We learned evolution, dunno what kinda shitty school you go to...
9th grade we learn it in usa @DylanB - evolution is not a fact.. its a theory, a theory although is a common thing that is generally accepted throughout the scientific community.. but it is not a "fact" because there is religion
Because you're probably in grade three
And, If it bothers you so much, Look it up at home, Change school even
The problem with evolution is that it isn't real science. You can't prove it with the scientific method. Every part of the theory is just a guess based on very scattered and inconsistent "evidence." There are already tons of examples that scientists touted as reasons to accept the theory that have been proven wrong. Examples: - Homologous structures: Just because things look/work the same way means absolutely nothing. Octopuses and Humans have similar eye structures, but yet they aren't homologous. Birds and Bats both have wings, and yet they aren't homologous. So obviously "homologous" structures are far from conclusive for any ancestor connection what so ever. - Embryonic development: Examples are all over the natural world. Two animals will have "homologous" structures, but they will develop from completely different parts of the embryo... going against the very idea of homologous structures. - Slow, constant mutation: The Cambrian Explosion is the surface of most complex forms in the "blink of an eye" in evolutionary terms instead of the slow change that evolution teaches. - Fossil record: The fossil record we have today would be like finding the letters 'B' 'E' and 'Z' while making the rest up based on semi-educated guesses. Its shockingly incomplete. Where are all the intermediate forms? - etc, etc, etc. There are also some other huge holes with the theory as it stands today: - Natural Selection by definition decreases genetic information. That means that every single piece of DNA that exists today that wasn't in the original DNA strand had to be created by random frame shift mutations. (the only kind that increase the actual amount of DNA) These ransom mutations had to fight against the very nature of the natural world, entropy, in order to INCREASE complexity. My point in all this isn't to say evolution isn't true, but that it isn't nearly as concrete as many people would like to believe.
Homologous structures first off are characterized by structures that originated from the same origins and have the same functions. The skeletal structure of a human forearm closely resembles that of the wings on a bird, but both appendages serve different functions. How do we explain this? deviations in the genetic code. Analagous structures are structures that might server similar functions, such as the wings on an insect compared to the wings of a bird, but they come from different origins, as in the pheno-typical structure of the wing is different. How is this important? by studying deviations we can come to some conclusion as to where and how and why certain things evolved the way they did and it defines the way these structures came into existance. To say that this theory is inconcrete is to commit a huge error on your part.
my teacher said evolution is right but didn't god make us???????

You're all arguing semantics. What we perceive as "observable" is constantly moving alongside technological advancements. ALL scientists accept the fact that what we know only exist to be disproven. Evolution is a nice theory as is but in all likelyhood will be severely dated within a couple decades. The problem is people think we are discovering absolute truths but as Einstein began to teach all of us is that EVERYTHING is relative, not just to the speed of light, but to our current base of knowledge. It's bad that you weren't taught evolution, everyone should be. It strenghtens and helps the brain develop. It also furthers research to continually discover new things. People need to, however, stop acting high and mighty. You need to realize that our knowledge is next to nothing and we don't know a lot.

There's no doubt that it happens, and we have a pretty damn good idea how it happens (natural selection). It's not just going to be disproved. Einstein didn't mean everything is relative, that's a myth.
Just so you all know. I live in Edmonton. I go to a catholic school(I'm atheist) but it receives funding from the government. Therefore I consider it a public school as it is publicly funded. Why the fuck is the government funding a catholic school? But as there are public schools available in my city I don't really have a problem with learning about religion in my school. I(my parents when I was like 6) signed up for it after all. However I suspect they keep evolution out because it's a catholic school. I should be learning the same thing as public schools but I don't think I am.
I'm not sure about Canada, but I learned it here in the USA during High School.
because you live in a rural redneck town, who hates black people and jews.
I live in a rural redneck town. A lot of people here hate black people (Old people that is), Jews not so much. My teacher is a Christian like I am, and everyone else in my school is as well with the exception of about 5 or 6 kids. But none the less, he teaches evolution, with some creationism thrown in, but still teaches evolution primarily. Your statement is invalid.
There will be a 0.0000000001% chance of me learning Evoloution as I go to a Catholic School (I am Atheist I should have that right to learn it.)
You have no rights if you go to a private school
You have no rights if you go to a private school
he has the right to learn about god

They taught a lot about evolution in my Catholic high school. At least half of the year when I took Bio was covering evolution. The only thing they said at the beginning of the year was "Some of you don't believe in evolution. That's alright." and that's it. the rest of the year was a to the books and to the point class. My teacher even has a doctorate in biology, he was a good teacher too.

There isn't much to it.
He's in a general science course. He won't learn Evolution until he takes a Biology course. Thread over.
