I find it weird how people rather complain about a mod posting less seriously than the rampant racism that members spout in SH
If you were so sure the racists would show themselves why not just let them do it so BDA can ban them instead of luring everyone into shitposting???
I find it weird how people rather complain about a mod posting less seriously than the rampant racism that members spout in SH
Had anyone else posted that, they would have been banned
If you were so sure the racists would show themselves why not just let them do it so BDA can ban them instead of luring everyone into shitposting???
because sometimes people need to project themselves against it instead of being silent [editline]1st July 2015[/editline]
Had anyone else posted that, they would have been banned
i wouldn't be so sure
Had anyone else posted that, they would have been banned
doubtful tbh that's pretty tame for SH, whether a mod should've posted it is a different story but the real question is who cares? if you can't stop yourself from shitposting (in lieu of any meaningful discussion) because ol' green name posted something silly then you probably don't belong anyway
Make examples instead of playing some smug psychic
If you were so sure the racists would show themselves why not just let them do it so BDA can ban them instead of luring everyone into shitposting???

Had anyone else posted that, they would have been banned
I think mods should at least try to hold themselves to a higher posting standard instead of shitposting at will nobody's a saint, though. But hey, at least try.
Speaking of bullying leaking out from the GMF, what the fuck happened to this thread and why did no one else deal with it? http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1473484 BDA literally makes it okay for a mod to stir up shit and then waves of golds follow after him.
Seems like people are just overreacting to a joke post by BDA? Unless I'm missing something. Also I don't see how it relates to bullying.
or maybe people should learn how to behave for themselves instead
-snip-
mods shouldn't have to babysit you
Sensationalist Headlines is the comments section of Facepunch. It's impossible to keep clean.
Mods get away with a lot of posts that would get other members banned for "shitposting" "why reply" and "insensitive" Gold members are supposed to be a high standard and set an example. Mods should be the highest standard of them all.
I find it weird how people rather complain about a mod posting less seriously than the rampant racism that members spout in SH
and that fixing gmf (a private subforum enjoyed by many) is somehow more important than fixing sh (a public subforum universally complained about)
Mods get away with a lot of posts that would get other members banned for "shitposting" "why reply" and "insensitive"
well so do I and i'm not a mod, sorry to burst your bubble
Mods get away with a lot of posts that would get other members banned for "shitposting" "why reply" and "insensitive" Gold members are supposed to be a high standard and set an example. Mods should be the highest standard of them all.
golds aren't "supposed" to be anything other than members who survived long enough to get it or members who cared enough about the community in its early days to donate to it in general you'd expect both cases to be of a higher standard but it doesn't always work out that way however the standard for participating in GMF should be backed with bans and until recently it wasn't
and that fixing gmf (a private subforum enjoyed by many) is somehow more important than fixing sh (a public subforum universally complained about)
there's nothing stopping you from initiating a public call to un-fuck SH other than your own lack of any clue in regards to what needs to be done how can you really fix SH without banning people for posting opinions that differ from yours? in that sense, is it really broken? you need to identify the problem and propose a solution rather than being contrary to an entirely separate effort for the sake of it.
golds aren't "supposed" to be anything other than members who survived long enough to get it or members who cared enough about the community in its early days to donate to it
So why do golds often get longer ban lengths and told in RC they should be setting an example or something along those lines?
It's funny how the GMF is supposed to be private, but this threads is basically a window to most of it. And how is a banned user browsing this thread?
So why do golds often get longer ban lengths and told in RC they should be setting an example or something along those lines?
because as a gold when you do something bannable you should know better due to being around long enough to get gold other than that you're basically the same as a blue GMF was designed to improve post quality by narrowing its userbase to more experienced (gold) members and while there are still retards among that group the hope is that they are fewer than in the general population
It's funny how the GMF is supposed to be private, but this threads is basically a window to most of it. And how is a banned user browsing this thread?
banned users can still browse parts of the forum as of recently, kind of like the old warning system from back in the day but applied to all bans
And how is a banned user browsing this thread?
the ghost of thisispain haunts us all [editline]1st July 2015[/editline]
robotboy made it so banned users can browse what 95% of the forum except gmf and ft? they can't post so
no shut up its ghosts
So why do golds often get longer ban lengths and told in RC they should be setting an example or something along those lines?
I thought the reason for that was "you've been on facepunch long enough to know you shouldn't have done x".
I said I missed most events of FP. It takes me a few weeks to hear about shit here. Even if I'm here. [editline]1st July 2015[/editline]
GMF was designed to improve post quality by narrowing its userbase to more experienced (gold) members
When you cut off the influence of new members, the overall quality tends to stagnate. Whatever is left breeds with it's self and evolves into a new form of shitposts.
maybe you should make a thread about fixing sh then you can have a thread like this one?
I'm not interested in "fixing" anything on facepunch. It's fine. I only post in the place considered the shittiest of them all. I just think this is not fair to the current gmf regulars. They have a place to hang out and talk about things they like. "X" people wanted to come in and talk about things they liked, but the interests were not shared. "X" people felt they deserved to talk there as well, so change must be forced upon the current users. idgi
robotboy made it so banned users can browse what 95% of the forum except gmf and ft? they can't post so
Woah, that's cool. I was wondering why banned users were viewing threads.

It used to be that gold members could only be banned by garry or Hezzy. However, they were expected to behave like gentlemen (or ladies) when on the main forums. In the days after Monkey_123 but before it was possible for anyone to be made gold in any way except by the gift of garry and Hezzy, there were lots of fun things we could do. I mean like use attachments and edit thread titles. I don't think it's leaking to say this, since those privileges are long gone. I really liked the GMF when I was originally made a gold. Some people were assholes to me but it was nothing personal, I'm sure.
