I'm starting to really hate the whole "hipster" trend, and not in the way you may think.

I can't hit the agree button harder. The word's lost all fucking meaning now.
facepunch needs a hipster rating
The people I know doesn't even know what a hipster is.
Aviators(Ray-ban) have been around since the 40's, wtf..
Douglas MacArthur was the first hipster.

What annoys me is that anything that's part of any subculture is now being called "hipster", even if it actually has shit to do with the hipster style.
Like this guy here:
I find it fucking disgusting when I see hipsters that wear the ear rings that open up their earlobes about an inch in diameter.
Tunnel piercings aren't hipster. They're very common in the hardcore scene, but in no way is it a hipster thing.
If you can't tell the difference between these two styles then you are an idiot.

If you're going to stereotype, at least do it right. :colbert: Or else it's like calling an asian person a nigger, it makes no sense and is plain ignorant.
The people I know doesn't even know what a hipster is.
That reminds me, I dressed up as a hipster for a costume party once and then no one had even heard of the term "hipster". :geno:
I don't know how it's possible, everyone talks about hipsters now.
Having a fashion sense does not make you a hipster.
You guys are almost as bad as the people in the music section's "pictures of you" thread. Everyone started bagging on the way I look when everyone else in the thread has some greasy ass, ugly hair and wal-mart clothes.
Having a fashion sense does not make you a hipster.
..."fashion"
Please, we must always put the air quotes there because fashion is the most retarded domain of art I've ever seen.

What?
What?
Purpose of it?
Every other form has a purpose, what is fashions?
The whole classifying whether a person is a hipster or not by their taste in music is total bullshit. Being called a hipster just because i prefer a genre of music that's still developing and hasn't got much recognition (mathrock) makes me lose respect for someone real easily.

Only back then, it was worn more of the purpose side, then the fashion side.
Back in high school, I'd pretty much hate everything my class mates liked.(mostly because their taste in everything was genuinely bad (the SAW films, Transformers, 50 Cent, My Chemical Romance, etc.) and they deemed me a hipster for liking anything they never heard of.(which are older films like Apocalypse Now, Dr. Strangelove, or music that wasn't rap or terrible pre-pubescent singer bands)
College was so much better.
People were actually knowledgeable of other genres of music and the fact that movies existed before the late 90s and as such conversations with them were far more enjoyable.
I don't think this classifies me as a hipster.
Purpose of it?

You mean besides expression? Fashion has the same purpose. Creating an aesthetically cohesive set of apparel, hair/tattoos/piercings included, is absolutely an art/form of expression.

Make the icon for artistic a triangle.
I don't understand why fixie bikes are so popular.
The slight benefit of being lighter and easier to maintain is completely overpowered by all the negatives like not being able to freewheel at all and having difficulty on rough, wet, hilly, or otherwise non-flat-pavement terrain.

You can do amazing things with a fixed gear / track bike.

Us riders have no troubles on rough, wet, hilly, or otherwise non-flat-pavement terrain.
They ARE getting trendy, but that's fine, more people to ride with our group. It's quite a fun social thing for my friends and I, we get to meet all sorts of new people when we go riding, and we cover an average of 200 miles a week.
Fixed gear bikes are also used by professional cyclists for training.
Oh hey, Lance Armstrong on a fixie!

I hate Hipsters.

I also hate people who dig Oasis and only know a handful of their songs, and you can pretty much guess which ones they are.
Arghhh.
Frankly anyone who judges people based on taste in music is a fucking invalid.
