no man not at all i dont believe that

On what basis
Facts, Facts everywhere
Well that's how it goes dude, if there's something you like, there's always going to be others who dislike it, and when you dislike something, you usually want to justify why you dislike it, even if it's not justifiable.
im not against the study, im against news sites who see this, reads the title and posts it as "omg MJ causes testicular cancer" when it says it needs further testing.

oh and Tophat, show your mom the abstract, should be obvious enough to show that it is not causation and even needs further testing

My point still stands, they don't like us using weed, so they use scare tactics and propaganda to get the majority on their side, for little to no real basis for why.
yes they do, they think it cures cancer, fights depression, is perfectly fine to smoke every day.
Marijuana has shrunk tumors in the brains of mice. If that isn't anti-cancerous, I don't know what the fuck is.
Not to mention it seems a bit coincidental that marijuana would harm devoloping brains, but once you become a legal US adult it stops (even though an 18 year old brain still develops)
Yeah, your brain develops well into your late twenties.

Tumors aren't the only kind of cancer... So you can't say anti-cancerous, you should say it fights tumors..
It kills cancerous cells. I fail to see how that's not anti-cancerous. Maybe it doesn't have any protective effects, but it fights cancer cells and most definitely does not cause cancer.
when you say "ammunition" do you mean, bullets to deal with the ignorance of people....
oh and Tophat, show your mom the abstract, should be obvious enough to show that it is not causation and even needs further testing
I will, thank you for that.
when you say "ammunition" do you mean, bullets to deal with the ignorance of people....
If only it were that easy. Unfortunately, bullets wouldn't do much, we'd need nukes if I actually meant it in that manor. :v:

I did not know this, and now I feel like cutting way back on weed.

Most of the brain is fully developed by early twenties-ish, but the pre-frontal cortex (arguably the most important part of the brain) doesn't fully develop till about 28ish.

Well that's kind of startling. I wish I had known this sooner. Of course I don't regret any of my actions, it has changed my life for the better and molded me into a more intelligent and understanding person.
I think perhaps it would be better to smoke/vape once a week instead of once every day or two.

Yea, saw this. I mean even if the test was 100% full-proof, who the fuck cares? What is the point in saying that marijuana causes these things, should it stay illegal because of this? I mean you're talking about smoking the plant material, what about when you ingest it as an edible, or vaporize it? I'm sure that would negate the entire study, besides the psychological effects on a developing brain, which is common sense, any drug being taken when your brain is still developing will have a side effect, so I still really don't see the point in it.
There's really nothing to do besides rate people in that thread, if you actually want to do that, arguing/debating is pointless, people are going to believe what they want to believe regardless.

I got pissed off and replied anyways.
it's hella funny cause one of their biggest arguments is that kids will smoke it and decrease their intelligence while cigarettes and booze are probably more harmful each on their own as far as stunting growth goes.

you are speaking like every cancer is the same which is a very common mistake, there is a wide range of cancers
you are speaking like every cancer is the same which is a very common mistake, there is a wide range of cancers
I understand that not all cancers are the same. I just fail to see how something that kills cancerous cells cannot be dubbed "anti-cancerous" to that form of cancer.
[editline]17th September 2012[/editline]
Really just semantics
Sorry man I thought you were meaning its anti-cancerous to every type of cancerous cells when that is not known, its only been tested on some types of cancer.
Sure, weed can possibly increase my chances of getting testicular cancer or mess with my brain / memory a little. But that's if I'd abuse it. You can die from alchohol poisoning but that doesn't make it dangerous to drink a beer every now and then does it? It's the same with weed. It's the same with anything. Don't overdo it and you're cool.
there aren't a lot of things you can hurt yourself doing with weed but smoking with a developing brain is one of them

This is true. I've tried to inform my friends, quite a few of them have listened, but some remain ignorant and say things like "We're humans, we're meant to get fucked up right?"..
Yolo?
Yolo?
Yes that too, but jokingly.
I want to know if vaporizing affects the developing mind in the same way.

Of course it does, what happens in the brain is still the same.

depends, not all cannabinoids are burned using certain vaporizors. I mean, if you dial up a vape enough you can burn everything but to do so you would eventually combust the weed, defeating the point. But if you arent vaping all of the cannabinoids then maybe you arent absorbing the harmful ones. Sure you are still getting the psychoactive ones but perhaps not at the same intensity. I think it would make for a good study.

THC is really the mainly harmful one i think.
