Saw the 12:01 showing last night. I felt like if it was 20-30 minutes longer it would have been one of my favorite movies of all time. I wanted [sp]The deaths of Lupin, Tonks, Fred, and Bellatrix (I'm glad they kept the line in there though) to be bigger and more dramatic. Instead we see their dead bodies for literally 3-4 seconds. Also Lavender's death was kinda disturbing but awesome.[/sp] The whole hunting the Horcruxes while the Battle for Hogwarts was going on was pretty awesome. One other complaint I had with the movie was some of the action scenes. I wish we could have seen a grander scale of the battle. I wanted a clear shot of the random students and teachers fighting the death eaters. We kinda saw it in the background on some shots [sp] like when Neville was waking up and grabbing his sword[/sp]. All in all, It was a great movie. It is THE best harry potter movie, in my opinion.
Sounds like most people in this thread had an awesome time. But if you were pissed by the audience reacting to the film, look guys, it's simple. The 12:00 screening people are the fans that are most emotionally involved in the story, or else they wouldn't get the ticket. Don't ruin their fun by not getting into the spirit of things, geez. [editline]16th July 2011[/editline]
In Deathly Hallows, the book, he's originally the leader of the snatchers, instead of that Scabior guy. In the battle, [sp]he attacks Lavender (same girl as in the film) but Hermione comes to the rescue and starts dueling him. After that he's hit by a crystal ball. At the end of the battle he is defeated by Ron and Neville.[/sp] Though they decided to just get rid of him quickly in the film. Sad, because he was pretty badass in the books.
In the movie, who was he eating on the ground? Was it meant to be one of the [sp]Creevey brothers[/sp]?

i thought it was a guy, but thank god. I hated that bitch
Anyone else get grossed out by the [sp]Voldemort Fetus[/sp]? [editline]16th July 2011[/editline]
[sp]Lavender Brown, Ron's ex-girlfriend[/sp]
No one of Value was lost except [sp]Lupin, Tonks, Fred, Dobby and Hedwig[/sp]
Anyone else get grossed out by the [sp]Voldemort Fetus[/sp]?
Most of my theater laughed at that.
It's a shame how depressing Harry Potter actually is. In the first lot of books/films it's the dream place where you would want to be, where a child would dream of wanting to live. Then the later ones tear up that "dream" and shows how messed up it gets. [sp]Atleast the ending brings that "dream" back.[/sp]
I agree with this, at first it's a fantasy and then it becomes all dark and depressing until the final minutes of the film. Which is awesome. Also I loved the scene where Harry looks at Snape's memories.

The one thing I wish was different is [sp]Voldemort falling to the ground as he dies like in the book. I think him actually collapsing with a loud THUMP would have provided better finality of his death than simply disintegrating like Bellatirx[/sp]
Yeah I wish they didn't jump over the deaths so quickly. I was pretty surprised it was just over 2 hours, I thought it'd be like 2.5 maybe more. I love how the memory scene ties everything together and shows how pretty much everything that's happened has all been interconnected.
I think I made a pretty good post explaining what I thought of these types of fans. Check back at that.
you should just deal with it or not go to a midnight premiere
The audience at my theater was actually incredibly well-mannered. They laughed at jokes, cheered at the part with Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix, but they didn't scream randomly and interrupt the movie. Oh, I also had a huge group of friends dress up as Harry Potter people. We had Harry, Hermione, Ron, Ginny, Draco, Dean (black friend), Cedric (dead lol), Collin Creevey, Snape, McGonagall, and Bellatrix. As for the movie... dear god it was the perfect ending. I was glued to the screen for the entire last hour. That was the first premiere I've ever gone to, and it was worth it.
Im going tomorrow night, but a bunch of my friends went tonight. The concession stand literally caught on fire. The entire theater had to be evacuated halfway through the movie. Sucks to be them.
you should just deal with it or not go to a midnight premiere
wow thanks for not addressing my point
My turn to rant (and I really go for it). I can really mean it when I shamelessly say that I grew up with Harry Potter. as in my Grandmother read the first book with me when I was REALLY young and we saw the film adaption the day it was released; since then I've seen every movie the day it was out, but was only able to go to two midnight premiers (the Goblet of Fire for my 12th birthday and Part 1. I was out of state and I wasn't able to get a ticket :C). I remember buying the book on it's midnight release in that summer of 07, just when I was reaching that point where kids around me would say that Harry Potter wasn't cool anymore and that it was gay and lame, so I couldn't brag about it like I wanted too. But even though that was during a fragile time in my life, surprisingly, I didn't give a fuck. My copy and experience with that book was the first example of me really not caring about people putting me down because of something I truly DID care about. I finished the book quickly and thought of how lucky I was that I still had at least three years to go with the movies because I would probably be so sad when the series finally reached it's real ending. That day came today, and I watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 ten hours ago. I've matured a lot since then, so I don't truly feel as sad as I had expected, but I do feel like there's a part of my childhood that I really have lost, but it's not a bad thing; it's like I waved goodbye to it and told it I'd send it mail every month. The film was the most satisfying way they could have ended the series, without a doubt, whether you read the books or not. I have two things in the movie I want to bring up: [sp]Snape's Death/Memories: When they portrayed Snape being attacked by Nagini, had I not read the books I would have felt good, with a "you had it coming, prick" atittude. But since I had, I rightfully felt just as bad as I had during other death scenes with heroic characters in the movie. But the memory sequence was, in my opinion, the best part of the entire series. For the first time, I ACTUALLY FELT real human, relatable emotion in the Harry Potter series. I can only imagine how that scene would have been to me had I not read the books, because even thought I had, that scene really shook me. It was phenomenal.[/sp] [sp]Voldemort's Death: This is probably one of the most disappointing things to me. Mrs Weasly killed Bellatrix Lestrange in an extremely similar manner in a really good short sequence, as had Nagini when Neville killed it. But Voldemort dying in the same way as you had scene TWICE in the past 2 minutes, dramatized as if it hadn't happened before really wasn't great. The way I had imagined it in the books was Voldemort just throwing another spell at Harry, their wands do that colorful red/green shit like they did, but his side dies out and Voldemort is simply knocked backwards a few feet, and lies dead. Hell, if they really were eager to turn the motherfucker into ash, they could've at least done it after that happened. It would've been much more dramatic and theatrical. That just disappointed me.[/sp] In conclusion, am I the only one who thinks that ALAN RICKMAN IS FUCKING AMAZING IN THIS MOVIE? Oh, and this film will forever be cursed when being reviewed on Rotten Tomatoes or IMBD or whatever. This is because people will say "It's only so well reviewed because of the hype/fanbase!" when they don't actually realize that in a film aspect, I seriously believe that it was a very well-done movie. I loved it. And I loved Alan Rickman. <3 Snape. Seriously I fucking love Alan Rickman.
I thought bellatrix had the choke of the year. Also the most my theater did was Clap at parts [sp]like the Ro/Hermonie kiss, neville pulling himself up and harry popping back to life[/sp] My childhood is officially over now that i've seen this also you really feel old when you've lived through 7 books and 8 movies.
My brother (who is 21) came home tonight, looked at me, smiled, and teared up. "In sixth grade, on my class trip, we went to the clearview cinema in succasana, theater 1, to see the sorcerers stone. 10 years later, I just went to the same cinema, in theater 1, to see the last harry potter movie. My childhood is complete". then he hugged me. I guess I should go see this movie.
Watched it today, feels funny knowing that it's over now... I absolutely loved [sp]the siege of Hogwarts, especially McGonagall's little "I've always wanted to use that spell" and Molly fighting Bellatrix. I do agree with what Handsome Pete said about Voldemort's death, I thought it should have included the staff and students watching the duel and Harry's speech about how Voldemort is weak and doomed. Also, GO NEVILLE![/sp]
Neville you magnificent bastard
"Yeah? You and what army?!"
Honestly, on reflection, I didn't like it much at all. They just changed way too much, went way too far with the action aspect, and left out most of the important character development. Way too much fanservice and special effects, not enough honour of the source material. A bunch of starry-eyed mega fans are coming out and saying it's the best thing ever, but honestly, you can't see it properly.
I saw it today. I loved it, even though the director took a lot of license with the material. I can see the logic behind the cuts that were made to pretty much all the parts of the book and often find myself admiring some pretty surprisingly good cinematography for a franchise. Although the final fight scene with voldemort could have stayed more true to the book but really that's my only complaint, and the way it was carried out still stood up and was good so it was fine. I liked it rather a lot.
I thought it was an excellent movie, decent ending but we had some fucking hipsters sitting next to us in the theater and they ruined a bit of the experience for me.
I wish the games we're something unique.
The thing that still bugs me is how disappointing the battle was. They had loads of Death Eaters, giants and snatchers, yet we only get some lameass glimpses of student and teacher extras dueling Death Eater extras. I mean, are you fucking kidding me? What about Seamus, Luna, Percy, Flitwick, Slughorn etcetc? Why leave out these characters? It doesn't make sense. The buildup to the battle was good, but then they just shat all over the opportunity to make something epic. Sadly, Yates (director), Heyman (producer) and Kloves (screenwriter) hates battles, so they ended up cutting away everything. I'm glad they left in some battle involving the giants, even though I was hoping for some ROTK Oliphauntish fighting, as in teachers and students getting tossed around like ragdolls. The spiders were only used for 2 seconds as well :( Heck, we didn't even get to
I didn't know who's fucking side the spiders were on anyway, I thought it might've been the goodies, because of Aragog and shit, but I thought it also might be the bad guys, because spiders. [editline]17th July 2011[/editline] That was amazing, now my childhood is over and I feel very very sad.
Seen it yesterday and loved every part of it. I barely have any interest in the HP series but I've seen them all and I got to say that was a satisfying end. Some of the battle scenes were awesome. Can't wait till it's out in the stores so I can watch them all closer together. Everyone clapped when the film finished.
That bit where [sp]Snape is holding Lily's body and crying next to baby Harry[/sp] stuck in my mind. :C I really enjoyed it.
I wish the games we're something unique.
I agree, tons of money could be made if they actually made them unique and interesting rather than generic.
