I really need to find a place that sells name brand ATF+4 and not the O'Reillys shit. No, I've never had a trans code popup, which is a little unsettling. Conductor plate? Is that the thing that sits on the valve body? I've lightly thought about replacing the valve body, but yeah. Also: The car already had the new style dipstick O-ring on it, but I replaced it anyway 2 weeks ago when I flushed the trans, still no difference, in fact, maybe even worse.
You should just order 9 quarts of Fuchs trans oil off of autohausaz or something because that O'Reillys shit will burn all of your clutch packs. Valve bodies don't usually go on these cars unless if they get clogged, but you have a destroyed gearset by then. Did you change the trans filter when you flushed? And yes the conductor plate is the thing that sits on top of the valve body. Bad trans fluid can corrode the contact points where the plate transfers electric current to the valves in the valve body. Now another weak point on the 5G-Tronic is the electrical connection between the TCM and the conductor plate. The female side of the round multipin plug on all 5G-Tronic transmissions is a removable plastic socket that goes into the passenger side of the trans housing. It has two seals, and these seals fail after a little while, and trans fluid will leak through them and can weaken the electrical connection, and therefore make the TCM less able to communicate with the transmission. This will usually result in a PO715 depending on the extent of the leak. In extreme cases, the transmission fluid can wick up the harness and slowly kill the TCM. I think you should look over at Mercedes forums for solutions to your problem, it seems like no one has a clue on LX forums.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/jNPfg8q.jpg?1[/t] Anyone have any idea what the hell this is? This dude asked me to figure it out and I'm stumped, this is the only picture he gave. My first thought was a mid-late 40s Plymouth but the fenders would be wrong for that.

Cant find any really good picks, however, that flat head 6 in there kinda gives it away. Theres a junkyard near by me that has one, next time I'm there I'll snap some pics. Heres a reference pic for now: 1942 [t]http://www.carsandracingstuff.com/library/c/champion10.jpg[/t] [editline]17th June 2015[/editline] Could also be a 46'. It's just that the top bit of remaining chrome seems the wrong shape for both of those. It's driving me crazy because I know I've seen it before but I can't place it.
Welcome back to Oglesby Illinois :downs: It's been a long few days! Got back from Slamology on Sunday night then yesterday hit the grind hard again at home. Today I went back to work and started the full-week project of an Illusion Audio / Mosconi setup in a 2014 Vette Convertible! Came home and had to keep hammering on some fiberglass door pods and boxes for another custom install on Sunday. And mow lawn. Can I have some extra hours for my day, please? lol. I got the stainless pipe in for the new takeyari on my daily, but dunno when the heck I'm gonne get time to do it.
Wait, you're in Oglesby? I live in Streator, literally like 20 minutes south.
Studebaker Commander?
Out of curiosity, how do you guys feel about decorative hood/roof vents? Is it comparable to those kinds of people that put fake turbocharger speakers under the hood?
They rarely look good, and even less likely to be applied in such a way as to not be at risk of tearing off and being debris on the highway.
Just to ease nerves, no I don't plan on buying one ever
So I installed a new Walbro 255 a month ago, starts whining like crazy and my car starts bucking, i limp into a gas station and take out the fuel pump; the sock is completely fucking clogged with black particulate the size of peppercorns. Like, what the fuck. The old fuel sock of 5 years was completely clean. Brake cleanered the shit out of the sock and pump (sock is still full of bullshit) and managed to get home, seems fine. I don't have a fuel pressure gauge so I dunno if I'm getting correct fuel. $450 to drop the tank from my 02 wrx and clean it. You literally have to drop the rear diff and subframe AGHGgh. Is there a better way to clean out the tank? I looked down into the tank, I could see black powder shit (not goo or tar) sitting at the bottom, like a gas station's hose just started seppuku. Last time I filled up was not a big gas station. [editline]17th June 2015[/editline] I've tried searching online and I can't find anything about black shit in the gas tank except 80's fuel tank liner and stuff about diesel algae.
If it's a new pump it's probably fine. Do you have a drain plug on your tank? You could just tilt the car with the drain at the bottom corner. Your new pump probably sits lower and the filter sock is actually sitting in that gunk now. I really doubt it wasn't there in the first place.
What ever happened to just having a HUD? Crap like the Mazda3, Mercedes CLA, and BMW 1series with an unsightly tablet just stuck onto the dash is not a good trend for people who want their car to look like it was well thought out. Thanks for installing a 7" Garmin I can't remove. Gag me with a spoon;
Their placement may look out of place, but it's better having it up there instead of in the middle of the dashboard, which forces people to look down away from the road. This way less people rear end others while trying to do navigation. As strange as it may seem this car was never designed with modification in mind. No modern passenger car is. Plus the Mazda 3 actually does have a HUD.
Mazda's "HUD's" looks weird. Should be projected on the windshield, not on a flip screen. Been so long since I haven't had a car without one that I'm not used to look at the cluster nowadays, makes it weird when taking another car. :v:
No matter how long I've seen Skylines, I still can't get used to Millenium Jade It looks really odd.

I love you. You need some bigger brakes though.

Also I finally approached my car with a level head and proper test procedure. I ran a series of voltage tests on the duty cycle loop (bridging pins 2 and 3 on MB X11) and found that the voltage could not exceed 6.3 V with a battery supplied voltage of 9.95V regardless of deflection. Therefore the duty cycle does not drop below 40% even at full throttle deflection (should be 20 here). So my throttle valve switch is borken. Good news is that the varioresister in the airflow potentiometer is fine, my EHA is fine, fuel distributor is free, and the pumps activate upon slight mass airflow deflection. Shitty news: I have a leaking high pressure return line from the fuel distributor to the hard line at the false firewall. Fuck you ethanol.
HUDs projected onto the windsheild tend to be wavy or can distort depending on where your eyes are.
Can confirm that's not true. Never had a single issue with all the ones I had / drove in. Direct sunlight? No problem, dirty windshield? No issues either.

Finally got my washer fluid leak fixed. [t]http://i.imgur.com/KWhM2JU.jpg[/t] The U-joint hose connecting the motor to the tank had a cut in it (some gravel probably ricocheted around the protective plate and slashed it), so I covered the thing in a silicon-based goop. No visible leaks anymore and the washers kicked in like a charm. I no longer have to carry a water bottle around to get shit off my window
Holy shit, this is hilarious
I don't get it
I'll take 6 minutes of why British Car Shows are bland, minus Top Gear sometimes?

I really want to upgrade from my 206, Got my heart set on a Mazda, but I don't know whether to get a Mx-5 or an RX-8? I hear the RX-8's are a bit of a beast, but come with a shitton of problems. It's just a shame Nissan 350z's are so expensive.

They guzzle gas like a V8 truck. RCR has a pretty good overview of them Now if you could find one with an engine swap to a V8 or whatever, that would be a great car. Keep the great chassis, ditch the engine on perpetual lifesupport.
