I'm almost about to get into an arguement over Facebook of why turbos are more effecient than superchargers... This kid who is a drag racer has a super charger and says it doesn't take HP to make boost on a supercharger. Yeah, okay... I was telling him that turbo chargers are way more complicated to install and maintain but will result in the most efficient HP gains. Taking 40HP to make 150HP will only net 110HP gain, therefor less efficient. Jeaz.

S/C runs as an accessory (needing the engines power to compress the intake charge) and heats up intake temperatures substantially. They're basically giant heatsinks. T/C runs off exhaust gas and is intercooled, keeping intake temps from getting too hot. But he's a "drag racer", so he would know this. Every time I hear about a "drag racer" in my area, it's right after they didn't make a turn and crashed or caused an accident.
I got myself a real nice air compressor, husky 20 gallon 1.5hp Retail 200 I got it for 40 Couple scratches and needs a 12 dollar pressure switch :) I think I found the boost leak though, its the turbo :v: I believe the orange ring in the pic is bad. Do yourself a solid and just call the cops.. and remove their addresses/DOB from the post
Do yourself a solid and just call the cops.. and remove their addresses/DOB from the post
That's my issue. The cops don't wish to do anything. The county jurisdiction it is in does not want to do a fucking thing. I have two open cases in two different county. And only one of them sounds promising. (The property falls in between three different jurisdictions) And if your cleaver enough you can find the same info I posted. I could post more, but I will not. >Call the cops Don't you even remember me TELLING YOU I nearly removed a police cruisers bull bar from pulling it out of mud? I've told Smith County they need to get him or else they need to get a toe tag and a body bag all warmed up for him if he ever steps foot back onto this property.
Thats true... maybe dont call the cops if they allowed that to happen...

Yes, that's a slant six with a turbo AND supercharger AND port fuel injection. He's using the supercharger to eliminate boost lag so that he can have a larger turbo - there's some kind of valve that allows the turbo to take over more of the intake and make the majority of pressure at a certain RPM. I forget how it's set up. Turbos are effective but after a certain point they run out of juice, or rather they run into juice too soon, then out, or the compressor map states it wants to run at a certain percentage otherwise it is blowing hot air, etc... Superchargers work instantly. They have a parasitic drag yes - the same drag you'd get from a water pump impeller, if we're talking about a single impeller, a roots charger is a bit different. If we're talking carburetors, superchargers are way easier to set up, just bolt a carb to the top of it and done. I think the whole idea of parasitic loss from a blower is moot. It doesn't make sense. It's like taking a 100hp car, you add a supercharger and now have 150. You didn't "make 80 hp and lost 30" no... you made 50. That's the end of it. There's a lot of people in this world who also truly believe that a steel mechanical fan sucks 5hp out of the engine too. It may have significance, but not that high. I like the idea of either a supercharger or turbo, I don't think either is better than the other - they each work a bit different. Superchargers have no lag, turbos do... etc... they have positives and negatives. For example, for me I chose a turbo setup on an engine that had no turbo ever. There was sparse information available and there was SO MUCH modification to everything that needed to be done. Wheras a supercharger, I could set up in draw-through fashion, and attach it, and then go "lol supercharged" and then be done... but I chose the more complex route. I am happy with my decision, but there's a lot of maintenance and tuning involved. I can't just change the belt pulley to change the tune unfortunately. But I turned a 80-90RWHP car into a 164RWHP car @3500 RPM, all in above it pulls over 200 at the wheels, but I only count what I actually drive the car around at. That's also only 5psi.
The meeting has been made official... Monday, 12:30 central time.. Culver's parking lot. I'm getting so nervous, I feel like I'm going to attempt pickup of a Japanese imported bride, or something. Except this is better, because glorious Nippon V6 only says things I want to hear, not complaining about not having cable after refusing to clean the kitchen. Regardless, this has been pretty much all I've thought about all week. In other news I worked on my car today. Didn't do much because there was so much shit under the hood. -Flushed engine -New oil filter -New spark plugs -New engine oil Didn't expect much difference but the car runs sooooo well now. Even engine start time got cut down by half  I still have my new fuel filter and air filter sitting around. Didn't change the fuel filter because the mounting is a bitch. Half the bolts and nuts were missing so every time I try to remove the line bolts on the old filter it would just wiggle around, not to mention the old nuts are super tight. I'm afraid that I might bend the line so I'll ignore that for now. Want to see something really silly? I think my sube has the recurculating system (bypass valve?). It makes the same sound as when you throw a pokè ball, or other times it sounds like its laughing at you. :( [editline]25th April 2015[/editline] I am the mustang sally serj speaks of! He forgot to include my 50 cummins' but the 16 mustangs overshadow that apparently. Seen a 1972 scamp yesterday, so tiny!!! Might order more parts for the dart while im away for work here. Strange 9 inch, aluminum 3rd member, 6 speed transmission (no idea what to use), interior stuff. Though in the end the body just has to get done.
I hope Serj can be my Mopar bro. Too many imports in here, yo.
I'll be your mopar bro, too. I just don't have any old mopars. Also, twin charger setups are sex. Aside from being heavy as shit and difficult to build, they give the best balance between both of the FIs and limit some of the negatives of them both.
Seen a 1972 scamp yesterday, so tiny!!
I almost bought a Scamp. I liked it, the owner already tricked it out for off-grid camping. 4 Trojan batterys, 4 200W Solar Panels, inverter., backup gen. It was fancy. I almost wanted to drop that 6,000$ on it. Ohshit. Your talking about a car and I was talking about a camper. Ohh well.
Almost ready for show day tomorrow. I tried tech wax for the first time. I like it a lot better than the turtle I was using. Way easier to wipe off. I spent forever vacuuming the interior, and wiping it down, polishing the rims, and trying to get a whole bunch of dirt off the tires. Started this morning at about 7am, taking a break till 3, then back to it... I've been sucked into car mechanic simulator 2015 :v:
Boat experts- Got this 89 Black Max Merc 150 with an intermittent trim. Its not the trim motor or switch. Basically we've run out of ideas. The only thing I can think left to do is start tracing wires from the throttle to the engine and checking for kinks. Literally driving me crazy. It works awesome for 10 minutes, then it won't trim down at all for the next 30. Is this what I'm left with? Chasing wires and grounds?

It's also about 5lbs that serves to do nothing other than restrict and muffle the intake although it does also move the intake location up a little to prevent you from hyrdolocking it if you decide to drive through water upto the level of your seat. Some other simple things to do are to take the IACV off and clean it well with carb cleaner. Inspect your dizzy cap and rotor and change them if they look corroded/worn. Seafoaming your car may have helped a little but you just changed your plugs so I'd avoid it. For your fuel filter, you'll want to get an electric impact gun. You will absolutely wreck that mount and the hard lines that go to it if you don't. You'll also want to find some bolts from the junkyard that you are missing or order them up from a Honda dealer. If you have any of those coin op, pay and spray, get out and do it your self car washes those are also amazing to clean your engine bay since you can spray high pressure soap and use the large soaping broom brush and smaller bushes of your own to to brush out whatever dirt is left on top of use some cans of your own engine degreaser in nasty places. After that you can just wash it all out. You just want to let your car cool down before you do it, maybe find one which is near somewhere to eat and hang out there for a little bit.

It could be the motor and it's dying or dead, when heated up stops working. I don't usually mess with outboards, but it's a thought. 2
