or a pontiac
Just buy a G8 GT. Don't you want 6L of fury in a 4 door luxury car?
My dad used to have one, it was a fucking incredible car. Makes me jealous that even that car was almost a base model commodore.
pls chevy just sell holdens here in the states ;_; Or at the very least promote the fucking SS. It's a 450hp car and no one pays attention to it.
OK I know Holden's are aus cars, but what's so cool about them?
Holdens are cool because we can't get them.
that, and they have sportier models than we get here in the states. We get the watered down shit here.
A Chevrolet C10 with a Scania 14,2 litre diesel turbocharged V8 in it, I love my fellow finns.

cus racecar.
so i'm sitting here drunk, watching videos on those shitty harbor freight predator engines and the one thing i'm wondering is, how do they get lubrication?
They have a sump yes but i don't see a pump?
Internal oil pump?
Decent GM cars above 2008 are those in the Zeta/Sigma/Alpha platforms. RWD usually available with V8's.
Chevy SS, G8 / Holdens - Camaro's - CTS/ATS and all those goodies.

same as any small 4 stroke engine, there's a little thing sticking out of the connecting rod that dips into the oil and flings it all over the place.

here's an aftermarket billet rod that shows what I'm talking about
they've got about half a quart of oil just sitting at the bottom of the case that gets flung aruond
How does the top end get oil?
How does the top end get oil?
that flinger is aimed so that some oil gets flung up into the upper rod bearing and through the hole the push rods go through
interesting. In my mind that seems really ineffective but clearly it works if every punk ass mower/gokart/pressure washer/whatever uses it.
[thumb]http://imgkk.com/i/83v_.jpg[/thumb]
the holes the push rod go through are absolutely massive. they get plenty of oil

the head of that bolt is 12mm by the way
I kinda want to get one of those little predator engines and build something stupid with it.

the one in the picture used to be strapped to a Felt Bixby bicycle frame, but the vibration ended up cracking the frame up by the head tube. I'm thinking about putting it on a kayak now
Found my wear problem. Took the tire off and the wheel assembly.
Lower ball joint is on its last leg. Going to replace all 4 ball joints and tie rods probably tomorrow and sunday.
Well, got a recall notice today from FCA I almost threw away, but decided at the last minute to open and read. It seems we '05-'10 Charger owners have a lovely new recall where the airbag inflator housing sucks and is prone to breaking and sending metal chunks during inflation.
And they don't have the parts to fix them.
Fucking Mercedes...
So kinda fixed the breaks on my Chrysler I removed the completely unnecessary and unhelpufl spacer that was between the master cylinder and and brake boster so the linkage reaches the master before the pedal reaches the floor.
Problem now is when the car is off and zero vacuum the pedal has very little travel and feels nice and firm, when I fire it up I loose a lot of room between pedal and floor until it feels firm still have at least twice as much as before but im not sure if it should be.
Maybe im spoiled by modern brakes and the 4 wheel drum should be like that.

Not a Fiat product, but them too. I guess 'Fucking Mercedes-Fiat-Cooperation' is the best.
this thing still exists, and it runs too. I finished a bunch of wiring, replaced the ps rack, fixed the exhaust leaks, replaced a ton of hoses, installed a swirl tank, and got it running kinda decent, just idles a bit weird sometimes. Also got steering angle kit but still waiting on some parts. hopefully video of it driving soon.

When I asked for my plate they told me that too. Then I got something in them mail just like your letter.
Both times they said there's no fix for it and they don't know when they will get it.
Cool.
Welp... I guess it's drive like a super-paranoid old fogey and pray a rear-end collision doesn't set off the airbag!
Or, maybe it's safer just to deactivate the airbags...
Metal chunks flying with no fix, maybe....
How do you disable airbags..?
Now that my fiancee's car is painted, she likes to find excuses to drive and show it off. I start construction on a wood roof rack for her soon here...

Y'all have a safe weekend.
Some place quoted me at $1200 to replace the ball joint(s; because might as well replace them all anyway).
I said fuck that. Bought $130 in parts (2 upper, 2 lower, 2 tie rod ends) and got to work. Spent the last 8 hours working on it. 50% of that time was trying to find what fucking size bolt it was since they all just want to use whatever size they want (uppers= 11mm, lowers= 1/2"). Bought a pickle fork too.
Probably a 3-4 day gig due to work and the holiday, but labor is free for me. Saving $1100 is worth a few days time in my book. Its been a mess, but I'm learning about all this stuff as I go.
have a safe weekend everyone.
Oh man do I hate doing balljoints. I remember in the shop it took forever and a day, and once I finally got the snap ring off I'd need the big boss to come over and beat the ever loving piss out of them to get them out of the control arm because I'm too weak, lol. Then it'd take all the screwing around in the world to get the balljoint press lined up properly to press them in. Have fun :v:
mine are not pressed in. They were riveted, but it appears to have been replaced once before. They are held in with bolts now. Thank god.
The only thing I'm worried about is I dont have access to a torque wrench so I might have to do some talking with a neighbor... or just tighten them at best I can and call it good.
