Automotive Addicts Lounge V2- Why we are all broke:

So this happened today. I'm glad I got it on camera.
I recorded this in the top 32 run of the second round of the European drift series "Drift Allstars" which we attended this weekend in Stockholm.
In the driver briefing, the drivers were told the usual rules and the judges wanted to see some really close driving from the chase car in the twin drift rounds.
So first this guy in the BMW fucks up and dirt drops in the first corner, resulting in Jacob (driving the Jocks S15) had to straighten the car and brake.
Then the BMW continues to straighten the car in the 2nd corner, while Jacob is close by him on the inside, so Jacob first hits the BMW and then the wall.
The S15 wasn't mendable in the 15 minute time window, so we got disqualified and the BMW went on to top 16. What a joke.

Looks like I wasn't the only one with a tumultuous 4th. Not only did my girlfriend fall and break her nose, lacerating the right side of the bridge of her nose and requiring six stitches (so much blood!), but the Miata began knocking (piston slap maybe) after a very fast drive to the hospital.

What do you guys think?
You really gotta include a full list of the stuff you used and some diagrams and other technical info, this is something I've always wanted to do.
Also, the song at around 1:07, Future Proof by Massive Attack is also on the Resident Evil: Apocalypse soundtrack.
I have most of my writeup in this MP3Car thread: http://www.mp3car.com/worklogs/158290-carpc-in-a-2004-chevrolet-cavalier.html
MP3Car is where I got most of my information. I had already been doing some software development and Arduino stuff before starting this project, so that I learned separately.
Having nearly completed the project, I think it would have been easier to go for a Windows 8.1 Tablet. That said, powering the thing will be a huge pain in the ass. The battery could easily have problems in car sitting in 25°C heat in the summer and 35°C in the winter. If there was some way of running a Windows tablet without a battery and not have it complain, that would be the easiest and best way.
Good automotive LCDs are neither easy to find or inexpensive. Tablets have bright, capacitive, touchscreens with high resolutions and great viewing angles. The 7" LCD that I paid around $300 for is 800x480, not super bright and has shit viewing angles.
Audio is another thing that's tricky. I wanted to still make calls through Bluetooth. That's a pretty niche thing to do on a PC, so there isn't a lot of software that works well. So I added the cheapest head unit that I could find that would do Bluetooth calling and had an Aux input on the rear. You could make it cleaner if you went with a bluetooth development board and had some sort of audio switcher connected directly up to an amp next to the PC. I have quite a bit of noise on the audio with my current setup due to the wiring not being absolutely perfect, though it's not very noticeable once you have some audio coming through. I could add a ground loop isolator, though that will kill the sound quality.
Power is pretty straightforward. There's a lot of different power supplies available and most handle automatically turning the computer on and off based on a switched power source. I wired in the switched power source to the stereo's switched power so everything works in accessory mode. I added a three position switch for that ignition line going back to the PSU that would allow me to keep the PC/LCD off no matter what, manually turn it on (Just throwing 12V back to it) in case I just want to test something on the computer that doesn't need sound, then the regular position where it will turn on and off with the ignition.
Again, there's a shitton of information on MP3car. They've been doing car PCs since the early 2000s.

God damn. That's terrible. You should probably stop driving it and take it apart.
Anyway, I finally felt like breaking out my big ass gasoline monster, so if anyone wants vids of me driving it on various terrain, let me know. Driving it in my front yard is boring, so i'm open to requests.
So there was an update to Nitrous Program 2.0. It's now at 3.0 and they have solved the manifold danger and floor pan problems.

Also, yeah, Dat Montoya oopsie.
I saw a Dodge Hellcat today at the grocery store and then right after I'm pretty sure I saw a Silver R34 Skyline.
Depends on the spoiler. The heavier the spoiler the more down force you get, like 10kg spoiler you'd get total of 10kg of down force, 20kg spoiler - 20kg of down force and so on. So if you aim for sheer down force put it on front, but if you want horsepower then on back is the way to go.
I had a excellent 3rd, 4th and 5th.
And people loved the truck! Non stop people passing me giving the good ol thumbs up and honking.
Even people in the on coming lane sticking their entire arm out the window giving a big thumbs up.
I found out the back seat on a ext. cab is not big enough. IM IN THE HUNT FOR A CREW CAB.
T'was a good weekend.
question for rozzer code3response: I've always wondered about cops not in their city/area (such as a guy driving home with his cruiser or just not in his county) are they able to ticket you or do anything really? i've noticed they really don't give a fuck (here in orlando)

A little late, but Merica lets me have a 2010 Honda Civic (automatic :,( ) and ye olde mustang.
[editline]5th July 2015[/editline]
Popped the speedo cable out of the transmission on the Mustang just now and the cap on the end of the speedo gear has disappeared into the transmission itself and now there the car shall sit until I get a new gear for the end of the speedometer. All I can hope is that ye olde transmission eats up that little chunk of plastic and I never have to worry about it ever again.

anyone here ride bikes. Just signed up for my class so I can get my motorcycle endorsement. Been riding dirt bikes for a while but i now have a bike that can be licensed and runs. It's a 1972 Yamaha DT2 250. Feel bad neglecting my jeep for a while as I work on it but o well. Will be nice to get decent gas mileage. here's a pic of it.

Now that's a nice little ripper. The 70's Japanese bikes are some of my favorite.. started on a '78 Kawa KZ200 and moved on to a '78 Yamaha XS750 now. I spent some time today polishing up all the chrome bits on it!
I'm a sucker for '70s jap bikes

Ive got a 1980 CX500

It needs a good cleaning and some small things like a little paint touch-up, cutting and adjusting the right side pipe a little, header wrap, and a new air freshener.
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250148
This explains so much.. I was wondering why I never saw motorcycle related stuff on this thread anymore :v:
Shaft drive nice!
I need help FP.
I bought a Z31 from a guy for a good price but there's a warp in a obvious place on the driver side front bumper and it's really fucking bothering me:
[T]http://i.imgur.com/CTb7gqA.jpg?1[/T]
The warp has raised the right corner (facing you) taking away the 90-degree square-look of the original shape.
The front bumper is plastic, but heating and re-shaping sounds super-tricky.
Any suggestions?
