I need help FP. I bought a Z31 from a guy for a good price but there's a warp in a obvious place on the driver side front bumper and it's really fucking bothering me: [T]http://i.imgur.com/CTb7gqA.jpg?1[/T] The warp has raised the right corner (facing you) taking away the 90-degree square-look of the original shape. The front bumper is plastic, but heating and re-shaping sounds super-tricky. Any suggestions?
It actually looks like it got hit did you get a vehicle report on it?
It actually looks like it got hit did you get a vehicle report on it?
Honestly, no, probably not. My dad helped me buy it, I don't really remember much, or even know what he did during the purchase. Everyone's asleep, I couldn't even ask him right now. Or get a better picture. I always assumed it was a big probability anyway.
Glad I stayed up for this NASCAR race, what a hell of a crash at the end.

I want to buy a scooter to toodle around town in when I don't have to carry anything or anyone. Is that a terrible idea?
I want to buy a scooter to toodle around town in when I don't have to carry anything or anyone. Is that a terrible idea?
At least get something that isn't a hairdryer on wheels.
Get a Ducati 999
If you get a VIP scooter I will crawl through the internet and hit you. Those are the AIDS of the streets around here.
What was the damage?
Bended frame on the car. And we're going to Gatebil in Norway on thursday, so they have 2 days to fix it.

Next time you go down to a junkyard, think you could snap some orthographic shots of some junk cars for me? ( I do 3d modeling and am always kinda looking for orthographic photos of junk cars, since I don't have a decent camera)

Rcr has a review up of a 1974 plymouth valiant 4 door that someone put a scamp sticker on... scamps and swingers were a two door specific car. Also I never remember a 4 door coming stock with anything but a 318. And the 1974 didnt make 250hp. Why dont these owners want to just be honest abouy the cars? They know his reviews arent like a car and driver review or something... id post it but im on my phone. I get to drive all over the state today to drop off chrome and pickup an engine for a boat and then pick up brass... etc...
that valiant probably made 175 new
I need to check up on this thread more often, 250 posts! Thought I had just been through it but nope, time flies quickly. Anyway, cleaning out the W123 and making it nice and sweet. Here's how the engine bay looked yesterday when I began. Looks so greasy and smelly. [t]http://i.imgur.com/8TiAIV0.jpg[/t] Then I began cleaning it out using a rubbing compound (Autosol!). Made all the grease become wet so you could begin to remove it with a towel or rag. After that, I just gave it some wax to make it all nice and clean. I was amazed the paint looked so good underneath 30 odd years of grease, oil and shit from the road. [t]http://i.imgur.com/STJQK2Z.jpg[/t] Progress picture, I guess it speaks for itself. Left side is after, right side is before the cleaning. Comparison picture of 4 hours of work: [t]http://i.imgur.com/ulAOErb.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/XcjSgy0.jpg[/t] That's pretty good! Going to do that with the entire engine bay - boy will that take a while! [editline]edit[/editline] Also this little guy ran up to me and checked out my cleaning while I was degreasing. Then he took a nap on his belly, accidentally peed himself and ran away. :v: [t]http://i.imgur.com/9TkHI8Q.jpg[/t] Cute little guy, no idea who owns him. Hope he ran home. :v:
Finally got out to buy a grease gun. Time to finish 1/2 the blazer and start on the other half
I love your W123.
Im late to the party but I have: 2007 Lincoln Mark LT with 255k miles and a nearly shot posi(the miles were my dad but the posi.....Can't say that was him) A rusty 1969 Coronet R/T 440 4bbl automatic car that is sitting apart in my garage awaiting my love Used to have: A Bishop dirt midget but I flipped the shit out of that in a race about a month ago and trashed the chassis, currently sitting as a bare chassis next to the race shop :v:
Hope I'm not too late to the motorcycle club... I just bought my first bike! 1995 Kawasaki Vulcan 500! It runs super smooth compared to the scooter, and waaaaay faster. It's currently misfiring, but that's likely because there is a sock in place of the air filter. That's the first to get fixed. Otherwise, it's in excellent condition. Drive belt is good, tires have life left, all the lights work etc. Super stoked to go for a good long ride!
"sock in place of air filter" would be kind of a red flag to me. :v:
I love your W123.
Thanks! Runs really well. I'd totally drive the W108 as well as much as the W123, but the thermostat for the mechanical fuel injection decided to die and now it takes something like 10 long cranks before it wants to fire up. Idle speed is too low and it'll stutter and backfire when you set off. Going to get it fixed at some point, has been broken for 3 months. Done all I can to fix it but takes an MFI specialist, who hasn't had much time off yet to look at my car. :( Anyway, bonus picture of the W123, I use it as my daily driver.
Looks like I wasn't the only one with a tumultuous 4th. Not only did my girlfriend fall and break her nose, lacerating the right side of the bridge of her nose and requiring six stitches (so much blood!), but the Miata began knocking (piston slap maybe) after a very fast drive to the hospital. What do you guys think?
Worn (not spun) rod bearing on cylinder #4. Probably looking at a full rebuild, if not a swap.
Worn (not spun) rod bearing on cylinder #4. Probably looking at a full rebuild, if not a swap.
Did you already take it apart?
Worn (not spun) rod bearing on cylinder #4. Probably looking at a full rebuild, if not a swap.
How many miles did the engine cover? Seems weird that one bearing would be completely worn down by usage if the three other ones are alright.
"sock in place of air filter" would be kind of a red flag to me. :v:
I use a sock for an air filter on my compressor. all it has to do is keep out shop dust
So the lower ball joint refuses to grease. I get a good seal and the fucking grease comes out the threads on the zerk. 0/10. The boot has little-to-none grease in it. Definitely not as much as needs be. Just one thing after another with this shit. I know why people pay $1200 to get these bitches replaced.
Finally, everything is good. Car has a lot of power with those injectors compared to my old retarded sard (1.6ms deatime @ 14v COME ON). I gotta tune the positive pressure fueling (I changed my fuel pressure regulator for a aeromotive one with a bit more raise than the stock) and the MAT table a bit. I am starting to enjoy my supra again and I am very happy about it, for the last two years I was chasing wiring and tuning gremlins, having no low/mid range power because of my injectors, drivability issues and retarded fuel consumption. Now it's all fixed. Next step is changing all my worn bushings with poly bushes from the energy suspension kit, I already did the steering rack poly bushes and it is great. I also have 4 tokico waiting to be installed.
Made a little video today. Went to a Car Meet close to me for 4th of July. Brought my Canon 5D and a tripod and took these shots. Just edited the clips together today.
Just dropped $400 on a magnabro cat & muffler, next week they'll get here and im gonna have them installed. Shall dump in front of the rear tire.
Finally got my half-shaft fixed today, and woah, I never realized how bad the thing shook on the interstate until today. It's like driving a new car now that the axle's out. Now, $120 AC hose left and I'll have a not-broken car, for a few days until something else goes wonky.
