It freakin' poured ass here today, too. I've got brake dust bad from where I had my brakes done two weeks ago, but every single day I have free time to wash the wheels it pours rain and never cleans them off for me... Damnit, laziness...
Dropped my bike for the first time today. I've only been riding it for a week or so and I hit a patch of gravel pulling into a parking lot to (ironically) practice some skills. Light damage to the fairing, right bar end, and brake lever but I came out of it just fine with only dented pride.
If it makes you feel better one time one of my mates fell off a fucking push bike in my driveway when it wasnt even moving
Letting a car stand for a month really fucks up your karma. I almost hit four cats and one moose during the first two hours of driving today.
My Eclipse has been sitting for 3 I guess I better just never drive again. I feel bad because every time I start it and let it run it's just ready to go. :(
DSM life dictates things like that, lol Here's a quick one.. recovering the speaker grills on my NSX. They were faded and torn in a spot. Cleaned a ton of dust out of the doors, too.
Letting a car stand for a month really fucks up your karma. I almost hit four cats and one moose during the first two hours of driving today.
My dad probably hasn't even put 3k miles on his Accord in the last year; and that's with a trip to Florida and back in it. He finally decided over the weekend (after the car developed a strong engine knock on startup) to get it repaired under warranty and then turn around and sell the car to get my step-mother a new Wrangler she's always wanted.
Is parking my car for six weeks anything to worry about? I'll park it with a full tank but I don't know anything else I can really do. Also it will be at my parents house so I suppose I could ask them to run the motor once or twice... necessary?

It hasn't rained here in like 2 months
update. About 75% finished with the project. Broke 3 zerks with two different grease guns before I decided I'm going to drive on the joint for a little bit to get it a little loose. The joint is so stiff that we cant get grease into it right now. After that, we put together that entire side of the vehicle and took apart the other side. Got cocky and fucked up major. Forgot to remove the cotter pin from the castle nut... and tried to break the joint. That turned into rounding the castle nut (and I thought I was going to die). Had to use a cold chisel and break the nut off. Disaster avoided.
I am working on drawing out the front part of the stripe for the '74 Dart. One of our old members that used to post here gave me the idea on instagram, and it was too good not to play with. He suggested "sharks or palm trees" and I said porque no los dos? I also picked out some wood from the shop for the roof rack I'm building. I went with Bird's Eye Maple, because it will look cool, and I'm tired of mahogany for a while. I cut 10 1"x1" strips out, planed them nicely, and stained them a super light orange color. I originally intended to leave them natural, but they did not look right sitting on top of a white roof. They needed a little color. I made the stain with some red and yellow 1shot and thinned it out a bunch and wiped it on and off. These are 40" long, for a 36" roof rack, which will have a bike trough on both sides of it. And yes, it will get used. Oops. v:v:v
I was riding my bike with a tempory intake plenum that I soldered together a while back. of course if temporary works it becomes permanent so once I got the proper part in I put off installing it for a few days. the temporary part worked for about 100 miles, until the solder joint cracked I had to hold the carb by hand against the plenum to get the thing to sort of seal and get me home it wasn't far so I could have walked it home but I wasn't about to do a walk of shame. besides that, on account of it only being about half a mile I didn't have enough time to lean out real bad and put a hole in my piston or anything
Well, got a recall notice today from FCA I almost threw away, but decided at the last minute to open and read. It seems we '05-'10 Charger owners have a lovely new recall where the airbag inflator housing sucks and is prone to breaking and sending metal chunks during inflation. And they don't have the parts to fix them. Fucking Mercedes...
Fucking Takata... [editline]7th July 2015[/editline]
Thanks! Runs really well. I'd totally drive the W108 as well as much as the W123, but the thermostat for the mechanical fuel injection decided to die and now it takes something like 10 long cranks before it wants to fire up. Idle speed is too low and it'll stutter and backfire when you set off. Going to get it fixed at some point, has been broken for 3 months. Done all I can to fix it but takes an MFI specialist, who hasn't had much time off yet to look at my car. :( Anyway, bonus picture of the W123, I use it as my daily driver. [t]http://i.imgur.com/FEL7wY9.jpg[/t]
I can't believe you are still having FI issues. Hopefully both of our sonderklasses will decide to cooperate at some point.

Oops. v:v:v
I seriously thought I was completely fucked. Sat there staring at it going through the 5 stages of depression real quick. Then a lightbulb went off and I grabbed the cold chisel and went to town. I'll upload a photo of the nut tomorrow. I'm saving that thing after putting so much work into it.
so i've been driving my celica a fair bit more recently, was wondering what kind of RPM you guys get out of your cars on the different gears at standard road speeds The RPM difference between gears at standard road speeds (around 37mp/h, 60km/h here) isn't too significant in the higher gears on 3rd it's too high, admittably, around 2500-3000 rpm and definitely doesn't feel like it should be left in, but on 5th it still sits around 2000 rpm, significantly better than third, but only about 200rpm difference between 4th and 5th obviously at higher speeds the rpm difference is more noticeable, on the high-ways up to 100km/h I wouldn't be able to sit in 3rd, 4th would be uneconomical and probably strain the engine, but it seems the minimal RPM while moving at average road speeds tends to be about 1800-2000rpm once again, car drives fine, i'm not too concerned about it, not struggling up hills, doesn't pop out of gear going down hill or anything, drives fairly quiet for the most part, but when the rpm barely goes down switching between 4th and 5th it feels a bit pointless on main roads, where as some of the other manual, newer manuals i've driven in rev at like 1.2k at that speed in 4th, then again different engines, car weight/design, gear ratios and all that so wondering if there's much of a benefit in this case switching between 4th and 5th at standard speeds, I don't tend to do it unless it's a long road because yeah even though it's negligible over a long haul it will make some difference i guess
5th is usually OD with 4th being D or close to it. But that's the fun of a manual you can put it in whatever fuckin gear you want, when ever you want to.
I drive my 206 in 5th even all the way down at just about 1k rpm.. if I'm at the speed I need to be, I go 5th unless it's below 50km/h.
Never shift my 5spd out of 4th just to annoy people with my straightpipe on the highway :^)

MPH It hits the limiter at 117 MPH at 3500 RPM with what feels like plenty of pulling power left. I'd guess it'll top out around 150 MPH or so but the driveshaft and aerodynamics will have put you in a ditch long before then. Pretty easy to round everything to make it 20 MPH per gear in normal driving. Generally depending on how I'm accelerating it'll either shift at 1500-2300 RPM, 3000-3500 RPM, or 5450 RPM(redline). It's lots of fun to boss the transmission around though, I've got it to the point where I can get basically any gear I want at any time just by choosing an appropriate throttle position.
Ughhhhh the last thing I need is another project car but this is too good of a deal/base to pass up [thumb]http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NjAwWDgwMA==/z/wogAAOSwNSxVd1bI/$_27.JPG[/thumb] http://www.kijiji.ca/v-classic-cars/calgary/classic-cars/1078864800?mobile=false&siteLocale=en_CA Complete shortened and ready ford 9", solid front axle all set up, frame is pretty well done, comes with 2 of those engine covers, wheels are all new, no rust except a little on the bottom, rumble seat in the back, has all the glass including the fold out windshield which he says is absolutely mint, and a buncha other parts. The old guy who owns it is real nice, DD's a 55 pickup sleeper with a weiand 671 supercharged 383 stroker
That looks kickass. I'm looking to get my hands on a '30, I want to do one the way they did them in the 50s. So basically restoring it to stock then ripping shit off of it and dropping a supercharged Merc flathead in
I can't go below 1.5k rpms while in gear in my Mustang. The cams are so huge/rough that it WILL buck from the power surge it gets every time they cams lope, regardless of what gear I'm in. I have to keep the engine above 1.5k rpm to smooth out the lope.

Just body as it sits (minus the shit sunroof) with a classic style "Deathrattle" pinstriped to the decklid (after a Pantera song) [thumb]http://farm1.static.flickr.com/211/459302714_0bc75431ee.jpg[/thumb] Acid dip the body later and do it up akin to this with an old 392 hemi or whatever
Please don't do a 350 chev whatever you do. Go with the flatty if you can find one, even if it makes less power. Something is just right about that. Nobody needs another 350 hot rod. Cut the whole roof out like it's supposed to be and get the burlap or canvas or whatever cover that buttons on, do it right and make it sexy.
put a 2jz in it.
And give it Bosch MFI.
