I suddenly feel like having a truck
And give it Bosch MFI.
Nononono, give it Bosch KE3-Jetronic
Also my big barge does this for RPMS at different speeds:
2000 RPM in 2nd at 28 MPH (fuck first)
2000 RPM in 3rd at 40 MPH
2000 RPM in 4th at 68 MPH
or
6300 RPM at 42 MPH in first after you have locked the pedal into kickdown mode
5400 RPM at 103 MPH (yes it does go this fast when CIS-E decides to stop being a cunt)
Timed 0-60 to be 10 seconds dead with 3 people sitting comfortably a while ago, not bad for a 201 HP 4.2L SOHC fuel injected V8 that makes glorious mechanical whining noises around 4k

Not my video, but it does show how nice these 30 year old V8s sound unmolested

I like doing drag builds in that game
I don't like when the game crashes though I just finished building a turbo beetle and the game immediately crashed

The driving physics are crap for pretty much anything else than drag builds really

the slightest input loops it out once you get past about 140, horrifying is an understatement

you want horrifying, how about this?

Shit, my muffler/cat are already in NJ and should be on my doorstep tomorrow unless the FedEx guy drives off a bridge.
I am 95% done.
Joints and rods replaced. Everything put back together. Just need to wear the bottom joints a little to get grease in them.... and I forgot to tighten the nut on the tie rod, so thats #1 thing to do tomorrow.
Cant believe I just spent 100% of my free time in the last 5 days doing this and its still not done completely. Just glad I didnt finish with too little or extra bolts.

Whats left of that castle nut I forgot to remove before breaking the joint. The cotter pin was still in too... and I rounded it because of it. But I win.
Got my rack together for the most part - waiting on the main rails and the feet in the mail from ebay. I'm going to try this option out as it's a little cheaper than building the main rails out of water pipe. The birds-eye maple I carriage bolted to some mahogany cross bars to give the piece a little bit of rigidity, and then hit the whole thing with two coats of spar urethane. I think it looks pretty good. The spacing is a little further than I had imagined it, but it will be fine.

That's the mahogany cross-bars, and here's the mostly finished product bare:

With urethane:

Then I started construction on a wind deflector - 1/4" aircraft plywood, with a piece of birds-eye maple bolted to it.

Most of the stuff under the bonnet is brand new, and what isn't is damn spotless.
Other than a few small scratches/dents it's in great condition.
I'm so depressed. I find some good forester struts to lift my wrx, get it all jacked up, wheels off....lower 19mm strut nuts won't break loose. Breaker bar'd the shit out of, now one is rounded. FUCK MY LIFE. Now I've gotta pay someone to get that shit off.
Which one of you guys does the vinyl decals? I'm curious what machine you use.
I thing a few guys here do them. Clutch is my sticker man tho.
I just ordered a few off serj
I cut with the MH Series from US cutter, got a 36" deck on mine.
I do it, Clutch2 does it as well.
I use a V.E. R31
It has a 31" bed, so you can cut up to 31" wide, and any length as long as you have the vinyl that long. I usually order in 10' lengths, but Valon has a project in mind that will require a bit longer than that, some stripes for a car, and these cars tend to be about 16-17' long.
You can get vinyl from either of us. He started doing it first. Free trade and all lol.
I cut with the MH Series from US cutter, got a 36" deck on mine.
I heard the US cutter machines have some weirdly specific heads and stuff and it makes it difficult to find programming? I scrapped the $80 program that came with mine and opted for VinylMaster which was more expensive than the machine itself, as well as Inkscape which is free to do my bitmap tracing.
Ah, so those $300-ish machines on ebay? I was thinking of picking one up to do stencils.
Lol Serj's setup is a bit more advanced than mine. Whether the heads are specific, I don't know specifically, but I do know I'm still on the same blade that I started with last Sept! It came with 3 blades total, and US cutter has replacement.
The software I'm using is SureCutsAlot, and it's bundled with the US cutter MH series.. It works great for me. Pulls in any somewhat 2 color image and has enough tweaking to pull a legit cut off of it, good text editing, etc. I find it really easy to use, which surprised me because I usually suck at that stuff (I use GIMP for wrap-text, and it takes me so long everytime I need to do it, lol).
I'd def recommend the MH for someone looking to start it out as a hobby. By no means do I cut business volumes of vinyl, but I run it a few hours a week generally. Hasn't had any hiccups or issues, couldn't be happier.
[editline]8th July 2015[/editline]
Oops I lied, 34", not 36".
I bought this specific one!

Then ordered up rolls of vinyl as necessary. I've got a big box of different colors now, love it.
I've been thinking of starting a DIY style garage. Rent out a building and 50/50 rent with someone, then rent a living space to a mechanics student or whoever to help pay rent. Then buy a buncha tools and eventually a few lifts, rent out tools and offer advice. Would totally name it Automotive Addicts Anonymous or just AA. Build the odd custom vehicle here and there for advertising and the odd racecar for promoting. Go to local highschools and get involved in promoting the automotive programs.
Idk, you guys think it would be a profitable business? The main income would be people coming in to wrench, the secondary income would be flipping vehicles for a profit.
In my city there is only one other shop that does this so competition is low and the market is ripe. Their business is dirty and unorganized, run down and needs a good clean/revision. I think it gets pretty good business tho

They had this type of thing on military bases I've visited. You have a 4 or so car garage with lifts, then rent out the space for X amount of money an hour, and rent the tools inside along with it. It seems like a good business model and it does work. But ideally you just set the place up, then let it be, don't do your own work there, just save it for others.
Also speaking of vinyl, I just printed out a sweet custom stripe for the wind diverter for the roof rack. I think it came out sweet - looks like a surfboard graphic. The bottom part of the 1/4" ply is the same blue as the car, and then the birds eye maple portion, which doubles as reinforcement for the plywood, is stained and has spar urethane the same as the rack, and then I made this fuscia vinyl overlay for it. It looks cool with the wood background
Pictures aren't doing it justice, but I tried.

If I could get capital, I'd do this too. Definitely a shortage of garages (and mechanics). Just gotta remember all the other shit that comes with it. The garage, utilities, tools, lifts, insurance (lots of it), etc.
Got to develop a system where people dont walk out with your tools. Maybe like an armory-style check out. They tell you what they need, scan a card, and then you hand them the tools

I just might. It's gonna be down for a bit we are doing a new build. Probably gonna cross charge it just to see what kind of power we can pull from the 4 banger.

Pretty sure this was suggested in the last thread or one of the previous ones at least. Somebody even said if the business took off they'd move states to work there.
