I met a car collector today. Like LaFerrari, 918, etc... collector. He was incredibly nice. We talked cars for a few minutes. He doesn't like McLaren so he never bothered to buy the P1. He doesn't even mention the hypercars to anyone unless they are real car people, which he could tell I was because I could tell his 458 was a Speciale A from 100 yards away. In my experience it's rare to meet wealthy people who are actually into cars (not because they are expensive objects) and are nice about it.
if I remember correctly, if you disable OD you can pretty much run 2 and 3 to redline before a shift if you pin your foot down
Does that with OD on in mine. The 4R75W is far smarter than the 4R70W in part thanks to the inclusion of DBW

I guess the great thing of autostick is being able to kinda keep it whereever I want it when I WOT. Not that the car really cares where I want the gear, though.
So i bought something Really "fun". Sorry for the crappy phone pictures. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ckYv6Tm.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/Nc6ysNJ.jpg[/img_thumb] [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/ceTHoPl.jpg[/img_thumb]
Beautiful I love it.
"fun" eh? Is it a mud runner? Merica forever with that one. I just got back from my Grandma's funeral service on the border on Minnesota and South Dakota.. lotta driving in 2 days, but the whole family was able to get together and celebrate life. It was really, really nice to get away from my job which has been absolutely dead slow the last couple of days. Always remember to enjoy your family when they're there, guys. My uncle who let me drive his Porsche Cayman a year or so ago wants to chance to drive the NSX. I never would've guess when I drove the Porsche that I'd get to repay the favor with a different cool mid-engine car! It' going to be a good excuse to run the NSX back out to Minneapolis again later this summer and see everyone. In other news.. Holy shit I want this; http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toyota-Supra-/181795623653?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2a53dd12e5&item=181795623653# Assuming it would pass my inspection 15k for a twin turbo MkIV Supra is soooo good. That's only assuming the rebuild on it went swimmingly, though. Salvage titles are always questionable, but there's times you can get a screamin deal if you want the car for you (as opposed to reselling it). There's this NSX, too; http://www.nsxprime.com/forum/showthread.php/189270-95-NSX-T-for-sale-SO-CAL-JH4NA1189ST000186 30k for an NSX with all the same stuff as mine, basically! Except it's 11k cheaper just because it's a salvage. The price keeps falling on that one.. maybe someone in CA wants a sub 30k targa manual NSX?
I was driving out to see some family at this camping spot they go to pretty much every year. I haven't been there in a few years, so I had to rely on my GPS to find my way. Maybe 6 kilometers away, the GPS takes me down this tiny-ass road as a "shortcut". I've been down a few roads like this, I'm feeling adventurous and I'm in no hurry. So I power on ahead! [t]http://i.imgur.com/Nma36NO.jpg[/t] I go around a wide bend and realize that the road stops being a road maybe 200 meters ahead, despite the GPS saying there's another 2 kilometers left. Fucking GPS... I throw it in reverse and I'm not getting anywhere. No cell service. Some quick thinking back to winter and a little help from my rear floormats, I'M FREE! Who needs a truck when you have a Cavalier? [t]http://i.imgur.com/yUVxDIj.jpg[/t]
Into the trash it goes. I would -never- trust a unibody car with a salvage title.
I sort of agree. if I could get in and inspect it and also test drive it on a race track then I might trust it
There was a reason the car was totalled, they don't just do it for shits n gigs. Also that quart of motor oil on the back seat raises more flags for me.
the last 4 pictures are of the car before it was repaired and based on what I'm seeing I'd still trust it. I wouldn't pay asking price for it, but I'd be happy to dish out 8 or 10 grand
When I had the 4R70W, it would go straight to 2nd. I killed my OD by not disabling it first before I went WOT.
Yeah the 75(and short lived 4R70E) incorporates the futuristic technology of a driveshaft rotation sensor to help prevent that sort of thing. Up until then the transmission had no clue how fast the car was moving so it operated purely off RPM, throttle position, and engine load. Yet somehow Ford thought it would be ok to go from 1900-2800 rpm in fourth, to 4800 RPM in second. Or alternately, some engineer saw the issue and decided instead of reprogramming the transmission they would just add a disable OD button and get people to do it themselves :v:
So I ordered some parts for my Integra since it was all rear end and pretty scary to drive. Got new swaybar bushings and endlinks and once again I have my old car back and it's not scary to drive. Really odd though as none of the parts were broken in specific but it feels pretty similar to how it did 6 months ago. I also bought new Stoptech Street Performance pads for $41 off Rockauto since my Hawk HPS pads are super worn down now and I need to replace the rotors. I haven't had a chance to do front brakes though. Anyways, I bought nothing but Moog for my Integra and in true aftermarket parts fashion I had to grind down the endlink bushings because they were over 1/4" too thick to even think about bolting together. That's not all though, I did a thermostat, cap and rotor on my Civic which all went great. I bought the cheap Intermotor brand and it turned out that in the box was two OEM Honda Tec parts which was an awesome surprise. I jacked up my right rear which has been making shitty noises and it turned out the wheel bearing was pretty toasted. So a quick 45 minute job between two cars turned into a 5 hour ordeal of a right rear wheel bearing which should have been a 30 minute job tops but involved lots of heat, chisels and hammers because the inner bearing race decided to seize to the "axle shaft". The O'Reillys kept us standing around because their hub decided to grow legs and walk out of the store at some point and finding a hub took an hour at least. I couldn't care enough to take pictures, instead a buddy and I drove my Integra and Civic up our favorite roads and beat the hell out of them up some awesome twisties. The Integra can also now blow critically blown headgasket amounts of blue smoke if I let it idle for 5 minutes and go WOT, pretty awesome trick.... In some states a theft recovery can be a salvage title. It's a japanese car, if it didn't burn any oil I would be more skeptical of it.

All except that exhaust noise regulation they just passed. I'm hoping it doesn't get enforced, because 90 decibels is barely louder than stock exhaust, and my bike is straight piped, so it screams and crackles like a rampaging hellbeast. [editline]13th July 2015[/editline] Never mind it's actually 80db. How rediculous.
You better hurry if you want that supra, told my friend about it and he's like, 99.9% getting it tomorrow.
Hellll yes. Let us know how that goes. I don't understand how everyone is so afraid of salvage title cars. They're a mechanic's special, and make it affordable to get into some expensive cars for a price the average guy could afford (that's a $25k or so Supra w/o salvage title since it's the turbo version, despite high mileage). In fact, the fact that it's been driven X amount of miles since being repaired means a lot, because to register a salvage title car after repair it needs to be inspected. It's better than some of the cars that get crashed, don't have collision insurance, and then get repaired by the owner without needing to be inspected. Two of my friends have cars like that where there was un-repaired damage that didn't show up until we started taking off body panels to do work. In this case, given an inspection, trip to the alignment shop, and a test drive I'd be ALL over that Supra (if I had 15k and a need for a fourth car :v:) Says I was about an hour and a half from Sioux Falls! Went as far as the great city of Slayton MN, population about 2,200.
Euch, Minnesota is so bland
So not only is my driver's side headlight pointed upward (sorry drivers) when I went to adjust it today I discovered that the torx screw is completely stripped for it. Fuck. Gotta find a replacement screw for it.
Slayton MN, population about 2,200.
Thought I had an idea of where this was. Knew it was SW somewhere
Hey all, recently bought an '08 R125 motorbike and all was fine, got a service done and all that was needed were some new brake pads. I rode it for a bit anyway but since having the new brake pads fitted and going on a long ride I've noticed a ticking/rattling noise coming from the front end. I'm HOPING it's not the engine, but it's either there or just above, possibly thinking the cam chain? The noise is there even while idling now, and gets louder at higher revs and only becomes inaudible when I'm moving and have the clutch in. I tried to take a video of the sound so hopefully you guys might be able to help before I have to take it down to the garage. Has an older scorpion exhaust fitted too. Hopefully someone might have an idea!
Euch, Minnesota is so bland
I think Minnesota is pretty cool. Moving up to Minneapolis later this year to attend university. It's at least more interesting than Illinois, where if you aren't in Chicago, you have nothing to do and none of your schools get funded.

It might be normal for that bike, but obviously not if it gets worse. If you're worried about it, see if you can adjust the valve clearances. Also find out if it has a manual or automatic cam chain tensioner. If it's manual you gotta work it every 20k miles or so.

It's got an automatic tensioner but doesn't get any quieter as it warms up so shouldn't be the pistons either so will give the valves a check like you said. Hopefully won't need a full top end rebuild though
