Automotive Addicts Lounge V2- Why we are all broke:

My manual tensioner got stuck and didnt adjust all the way when I first got my CX500, so there was a rattley clatter at 4500rpm with medium load.
Turned out the chain was wiggling around and eating a bolt head.
Hey guys, looking to find better headlights for the MR2, because the ones the previous owner has in there are the horrible "stock" (they've been replaced before) onesthat don't put out a whole hell of a lot of light.
Do they make any that are brighter/put out more light and don't take up a whole hell of a lot more power, or even less power?
This is some sexy fitment

I really don't like lowered cars. (I also understand it's an unpopular opinion and encourage everyone to ignore it and do whatever the fuck they want to their cars so long as it isn't illegal.)
I like my family sedan that looks like it's got a two inch lift. I've had turds taunt me at work in my car on the other side of dividers and stuff and then run away screaming when I climb curbs to go after them

A: Why are people taunting you/your car? B: Why are you going after them?

A) I work security in California, it's the 'in' thing rn to disrespect any form of uniformed authority
B) They're trespassing and deeply enjoy seeing the fear when they realize I actually do work

I will never ever understand why people camber their wheels.......

If you car uses any form of OEM bulbs, there's likely a SilverStar brand from of them, which fits the OEM socket completely but provides much brighter, whiter light. Local shops like O'Reilly's and Autozone usually stock them or can order them.

There's also a difference between lowered and slammed / flush like that car is.
I lowered my thing by 1.6" and I still have about 1" of gap between the tire and fender, never rubs either.
I don't like stance / flush kinda drops.
How likely do you guys think it is that there'll be damage if I leave it (assuming that it is the cam chain)?
As in will it snap and break everything in it's path with it like the cam belt on a car or will it just be an awkward sound?
Well, if it is the cam chain, it going out means your valves stop moving or hit the piston, so I would classify that under "catastrophic failure".
I would find an owners forum and post that video, it could be that that bike usually has a louder top end. Some bikes are like that.
Look at this motherfucker. Hes blocking my park
God i hate people like this

Oh god no rate this guy dumb he likes something we don't! People do this because they want to, end of story. It's their car, their money. Get over it. At least this one is tasteful.

He does not have a single dumb rating
Lowering and stiffening suspension can be beneficial to handling.
Cambering the shit out of your wheels so only 40% of the tire is even touching the ground decreases traction and wears out tires multiple times faster.
The simple reason why cambers are fucking stupid.

I had my car aligned after my drop, got my wheels as straight as they were stock.
Stock the car already had a special handling package (Bigger sway bars, 35% stiffer shocks/heavy duty ones, higher spring rate, are the main points as far as suspension goes.)
Replaced the coils with Cannuck's/SSC ones, about 250$ just for the coils, added front and rear STB's, changed end-links, bushings, top plates, re-used the struts as they were still good and worth about 200$/ea and easy to change either ways. Drop is rated @ 1.8"/front and 1.6"/rear, with springs rate quite a lot higher than stock/special.
Made a HUGE difference, it's fun being able to take a big 4 door boat with precision in tight corners while following sportier cars.

Okay, I'll keep a look out for them. I forgot to mention that the bulbs in there right now are Sylvania but I doubt that they're the Silverstars.
I like GE Nighthawks, but RIP wallet if I ever want to do that.
I'm thinking of switching all of my tail light bulbs to LEDs that way I can maybe~ draw less power and as a result have a brighter output.
Gotta fix the bad ground first though :v
I also have to fix my wipers, handbrake, oil leak, and idle issue (which I think I've narrowed down to the ISCV).
THEN I get the nice paintjob and tires for it.
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
Also want to flush the coolant system and put fresh coolant in it but I'm kinda nervous about that
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
THEN maybe I think that's all I have to do to it other than optionally get a C52 transmission for it because mine has the C50 and the fifth gear pop-out issue but I think that's a project for much later.
fuck this car is gonna make me poor
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
oh wait i'm already poor
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
FUCK plus my Mitsubishi needs a brake job, and the other wheel bearing is going euuuughghghgg

If you want really good quality LED bulbs I suggest you take a look here :

Fixed my headlight leveling... Just happened that a 7mm socket fits over the torx without rounding. So now the headlights are level but the DRL's are not.
Fuck em. I'll take level headlights over DRL's any day. Also finished my steering box adjustment. It was so far off that I was kinda second guessing myself on what I was doing. Feels great to have responsive steering without wiggle in the steering wheel

lifted family cars are my favorite, nothing is more fun than a hockey puck lift on a $500 piece of shit
I will never ever understand why people camber their wheels.......
camber can work, just not in road cars
[thumb]https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0d/MillikenMX1CamberCar1960.jpg/800px-MillikenMX1CamberCar1960.jpg[/thumb]
Also with motorcycle tyres...

the milliken mx1 was just a testbed for william milliken to see effects of massive camber, it was pretty shit in a straight line iirc.
milliken wrote some great books including race car vehicle dynamics which has so much good information and knowledge to people learning, it's really worth having
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
Also with motorcycle tyres...
which makes sense when you hear the a super explaination to it, it's literally just 2 motorcycles leaning as if cornering, but with more stability of just having 2 wheels, and helps corner as great speeds
I will never ever understand why people camber their wheels.......
For drift cars front camber is extremely beneficial, at full steering lock your wheels will have a good contact patch if you have alot of negative camber. Camber also lets you have a ton of steering angle and fit super wide awesome wheels.
And lastly there is obviously a point where it makes the car shittier, and that is because people are into that look.
tldr:
Good
[t]https://farm1.staticflickr.com/475/19507845982_c1c81b55ed_b.jpg[/t]
Bad
[t]http://www.gtspirit.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/overkill_tuned_vip_car_off_camber_01.jpg[/t]
rear camber can also make it easier to keep or regain control in a slide
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
positive rear camber can be beneficial in rwd drag cars if the suspension is soft and the car squats on launch. normally the camber would go negative but if it starts positive it goes neutral
that s2k isn't really that bad when it comes to camber anyway.
that s2k isn't really that bad when it comes to camber anyway.
Yeah I have more of a problem with the fact that it looks like its on 20"s lol. Thing would be sexy and functional with some 17"s
He does not have a single dumb rating
He had. It was changed to disagree after I made my post, or I wouldn't have posted it. People who don't understand mild negative camber have absolutely no idea how alignment works.
