I'm starting a kickstarter for some reason for wood automotive gear. I've got several drawings and a couple prototypes floating around, mainly wood roof racks, trunk racks, and stakesides for modern trucks. I am assembling logical words for why people should put money towards it, and figure out a way to film a thoughtful video. I've been thinking about it for several years, and that's why I finally made one... The actual racks would be a bit narrower to fit a variety of cars. Right now I'm working on rack dimensions for 98 and that whole gen civic, 98 Mercedes C class, and stakesides for Toyota Tacomas. I have a lot of mechanical drawings but not all of them do I have a physical example of. It makes it hard to describe.
I got three new toys, the new 4wheeler not picerd because its a pos. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/IMAG0865.jpg[/t] I already owned the blue one. Now I have a matching red one!!!! Woooo! [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1031910/Owned%20Vehicles/92%20Chevy%201500/IMAG0856.jpg[/t] I also did things to bumper. First comment I got was "nice unicorn"........ thaaaaaaaanks... Right in the pride.
instead of just going lol don't need that why don't you fix the problem
Because it's Wisconsin and it doesn't get much above 90*F here. A reman compressor is $125 or so, plus refrigerant to refill the system. A new belt is $15. The car has 221,000 miles. Resale value is already nil and I know I'm going to drive the car until it's time for the boneyard. So what reason would I have to put a compressor on, honestly?

That's ok because i know it serves a function. Nice work.
because it's hot outside

Convinced my boss to get his 30-40s chev out of storage and do something with it,he may be taking it to a car show on the 18th.I really want to have my Chrysler on the road then (things have come up outside of control that have stopped the flow of money into it). Also I will have to do something I strongly dislike,Rent a Uhaul truck last time I did so I ended up stranded on the highway outside edmonton in -47 weather when the piece of crap broke down.

Thats barely noticable youre right on the line, pal
I wanna join the club and cut the springs on my ranger.
cut the springs on my ranger.
First off - No. Second, are you sure your ranger has springs to "cut" and that it's not on leaf springs in the back and torsion bars up front? Those T-bars, you can just crank the adjustment nut left, and the front end will lower.
There's a "stanced" Ranger here in town, it looks like absolute garbage. The owner is also a massive jag, he was a couple years ahead of me in high school.
I was kidding guys, I wouldn't ever do that to my lovely ford ranger. I love that little truck, you know. It's been the most reliable vehicle I've ever had. I got it for 300 dollars in April of last year and only had to put plugs and wires on it, oh and a sway bar link on it, it needs a small front end alignment and a waterpump soon, but other then that it's been wonderful. In automotive news. I did a thing. Thing. Tell your friends. Tell your wife. Tell your dog.

I started looking at them too hard and stopped liking them because they have funny dimensions and don't really fit the car that great. Having a wood rack would be interesting but I have far too many other things I'd want to buy first before I go for something that would be purely atheistic.

This is also a first shot at social marketting. But I hope I can figure it all out. It feels spammy but I guess thats what you gotta do.
Not just aesthetic. Has functionality too. But I know what you mean.
Oh, I know they aren't only atheistic. It's just that for me it's already a hatch and anything that doesn't fit in it already probably needs a proper truck. I don't see myself using it as I don't have bikes, ect. I'd want something which I could attach one of those baskets to or some extra luggage capacity if I ever decide to do a super long road trip. I'd want it primarily for the atheistic unfortunately, if I strike it rich and or ever fix up the body of the Civic I'll definitely get one I really promise that :v: $500 really isn't that bad if you consider a Yakima setup runs like $350.. How do you go about mounting these? If you make some cheaper trunk racks you could probably sell them to the EF Sedan or VW crowd or something. People with EF Civics really love woodgrain stuff and the whole retro/rat style. I know a Facebook group that you could probably post them on if you go for that. The EF sedans came with a optional trunk rack that are super rare, if you made something similar someone would probably buy them but expect absolute hell weeding out people who actually want to pay real money. [t]http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j306/teh_ninja/IMAG0296.jpg~original[/t] [editline]14th July 2015[/editline] Honda people absolutely love roof racks too, especially up here in the PNW where a lot of people use them.

I decided to go with Rotas for the Supra instead of the Cosmis rims as I can get Rotas very very cheap through Jocks. So I just got my rims yo! 18x8,5 ET30 and 18x10 ET35 [t]http://i.imgur.com/Nb7ER8N.jpg[/t] The plan is to have them painted bronze/gold. I like the look of this Supra, so I want to replicate that: [t]http://i.imgur.com/MIlBSwp.jpg[/t]
Late to the party so sorry for bringing it back up but figured i'd drop my two cents in: I can understand a tiny bit of stancing, it can look kinda cool and complimentary when it's subtle but excessive just seems pointless and ridiculous it's almost like twerking, when everyone starts rubbing their ass in your face in overly excessive amounts, it completely loses it's appeal the thing about fitting wider tires on, what's the point if you're reducing the surface area of traction (Specifically on straight roads) by stancing it anyway? that being said, I do imagine if the chassis sways around turns a bit it'd at least provide extra balance for those turns or something, possibly, i could be completely wrong at some point you got to ask yourself when doing mods to your car, does this make me look like a fuckwit, or is there really any actual point to doing this, and it seems like most people that go about stancing completely forego that and prefer to go for the most ridiculous possible level that's still driveable to some degree, as much as I hate to say it, it is kind of surprisingly admirable that they can do something so ridiculous to their car and still have it drive around, but in excess it's so pointless, it doesn't make the car look better than simply lowering it in most cases, but in subtlety I can't say I mind it too much that being said, ridiculousness has it's place as well, I can't help but find some over the top, pointless car mods novel simply because they're so out there, even when they look really damn stupid, they are a nice change from seeing the same thing on the roads all the time when you do see them to each their own I guess
Bit late, but what's the story behind X-Taping headlights? I've seen people 'angry headlight' tape lights but what's the X for?
Bit late, but what's the story behind X-Taping headlights? I've seen people 'angry headlight' tape lights but what's the X for?
Old race cars used to have it to avoid spilling glass shards all over the track in case of collision

They have soft padding and mount to the window. People tend to cringe when asked to drill holes in the car. I have plans for a trunk rack but those would have to be car specific. Those would likely have no way to mount unless they were bolted to the trunk. I could however make a large clamp for certain cars that clips behind the trunk lid and then above the tail light gap or something. In fact... thats a pretty good idea. But still it would be car specific. But yeah this is catered to those that typically like the rat rod look.

Mine has these two bars that go along the sides of the roof that the rack clamps to. You could make something that works with that.
Welp, going to view another XKR-S tomorrow! Finally got the funds together so if this one drives well and is up to scratch I may have it by next week :ok: Then I'll camber the wheels, wrap it in matte pink and rice the shit out of it.

[editline]15th July 2015[/editline] In other news, I want my 95 Maxima back. Scrapped it in '07 after I put a considerable dent in it. Still regret it. Are A32 Maximas / Cefiros / I-30's still a thing in the US? Hardly any left where I come from (Germany), and exactly one where I live today (island of La Palma). [t]http://i.imgur.com/SsWHw9b.jpg[/t] :saddowns: There was more wrong with it than that, though. [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] It's the only one of my cars that features regularly in my dreams, too. [editline]15th July 2015[/editline] Can someone pls win the lottery and give me some money? The handful of A32 Maximas currently on sale in Germany are dirt cheap, but it'd be a major undertaking getting it to the canary islands.
I think I read that someone here has a vinyl cutter; Any chance I can get an opinion and possibly a few things cut?
