Automotive Addicts Lounge V2- Why we are all broke:

Took my car to a garage, 2 of 3 engine mounts are shot and need to be replaced. The bottom "dogbone" was barely in place and was only hold on by a screw lol, hence the noise
update:
Exhaust mounts are also bad :V
Replacing them as well
It's a turbo anti-lag system that's causing the popping.
Would you mind explaining that a bit?
Would you mind explaining that a bit?
anti lag is basically turning a turbocharger into a turbojet engine to keep it spooled when you're changing gears or coming off the throttle or whatever
Would you mind explaining that a bit?
IIRC it's a second ignition that burns added air and fuel in the exhaust, with another intake near it to get the turbo pressure up after switching gears.
First order for a custom roof rack today. Tire carrier style. Doing it for cheap as advertising basically. Still no kickstarter activity. Not really sure what else to do with that. No response on reddit at all.
Take it slow, man, and stick with it. It doesn't really sound like something to me that you can just kickstart. I think you shouldn't focus on making it a full-blown business yet.. Run it as a hobby project that earns you a little money. Going self-employed is a long-ass process. It took me two years to get my translation business off the ground, and some months I'm still just scraping by.
Take pictures of the racks you're building to show that you're actually building and selling shit. Apart from that, anything that gets you exposure, I guess. See if you can get your early clients to put a sticker with a name and web address on it or something on their car in exchange for a special price. Maybe put some ads in the classified ads sections of a few car magazines.

Somebody said that your target audience will likely be well-off and probably a bit older. These are probably not the kind of people you'll reach through Kickstarter, sometimes not even internet forums. People who didn't grow up with the Internet like stuff that they can touch. Many will still read print magazines.
Would you mind explaining that a bit?
It's a system that burns fuel in the exhaust manifold to keep the turbo spooled up. It's activating when he's hitting the rev limiter, which causes that well known machine gun sound.
and this is how it looks like

QUite possibly the coolest car I've ever seen in my life. HE even has wide body fender flares to stuff those massive wheels in. But I see a few pieces from the pepboys swag aisle that are still missing.
1-Not enough Fender Vents
2-Not enough wheel well chrome
3-Don't see any "DUB" icons
4-Don't see any "turbo" icons
5-No dragon emblems
6- No roof wind diffusers
7- No visible LEDS, but that's not necessarily fair, he could turn them on at night
8-Only one Fake shark fin antenna in the back near the window. Needs at least 3.
Google 2 step

What is with shit movie studios buying babied classics and wrecking them for awful movies? I can almost understand if it's an unstreetable rust pile filled out with bondo and spraypainted, but they love to do it to showroom cars. Drive Angry trashed a gorgeous 64 Riviera bought from a collector, it had like 5 minutes screentime.

are you sure they didn't build a crash-clone thing?
Yes, the screen car was for sale after.

Also has actual bullet holes in the other side. Sorry for the gore
it just turns off the ignition.
yeah, it just let's it miss a combustion cycle, throwing fuel and air into the hot turbo. it ignites in there, which keeps the turbo spinning.
All this talk about 2-step and antilag and no one posts this video (skip to 1 minute)

So today I illustrated proper following distances and defensive driving by no Tboning a dumbass at 90kmh.Seriously how fucking stupid do you have to be to not even look before you cut across three lanes on the highway from a stand still.
So any time I see these "tires of the future", I can't help but think "My car would chew those up and spit them out after one launch..."
I really hope the tyres of the future lay down chrome skid marks. That's the only thing I want from them.
Would've liked to have posted my car with anet-leg+launch control on but you can only do so much with one go-pro and go pros suck at capturing sound.

Gonna go buy a new alternator tomorrow and some coolant elbows
Gonna go buy a new alternator tomorrow and some coolant elbows
Bring your alternator into an auto shop and get it tested by the machine... then decide if its actually bad
Got it out.

My friend used his expensive multimeter. It makes sense too considering my car has been turning off recently
Its just cheap insurance. Free to test most of the time. I mean, you're already going to bring the old alt in, so might as well test it for confidence
So, my dad says that one of his park rangers is selling a "2002 Chevy Cobalt" for $600 and the issues with the car are "dirty interior", "hole in muffler", "bald tires", etc. Small shit.
Considering Cobalts were announced in '04, I wonder what kind of car this actually is. I feel that either I could (a) upgrade from my Nissan Sentra or (b) fix up the small issues and turn it around for a profit (or less college expenses).
