They're plenty easy to work on as long as it's not a V6, FWD V6 cars just suck to work on in general. There's nothing to older Hondas other than a handful of sensors and the distributor, other than that you just have your accessories which make everything look complicated. The suspension is all really simplistic and easy to replace, unless you're in a salt state where everything rusts together but that's no worse than any other car. The Accords and TL's are great, avoid the pre-2004 V6 automatics like the plague. The Acura CL is a pretty under rated car but 4 cylinder manual would have to be the drivetrain since they had the terrible J series auto transmissions. The Acura TSX is also a really amazing car and is the last car with "double wishbone" suspension. The Euro R's were amazing cars and competed in a lot of races like the BTCC very often. Most of these cars share a bunch of parts and you can often source stiffer swaybars from manual sedan versions of some of them and along with a quality shock and spring you could make a hell of a great driving DD.
One thing your missing, the 95 to 97 Accord V6 autos were rock solid, 98 is when Honda added the 5th gear shaft and didn't add proper cooling. Along with that, they added a "smooth shift" system to it and that caused severe clutch pack wear as the gear being changed from would not fully disengage till the change to gear engaged completely. Ie. 1st would stay half engaged till 2nd was locked in. The only problem you might run into is the diff bearing getting sloppy and at around 140k miles some strange shifting till it's warm, unless it was dogged on by a previous owner then there might be an issue. I have a 95 Accord V6 and it's been an awesome car thus far. It has the strange shifting, such as a delay, but only when it's cool. Once it's warm it just fine, really helps to have a proper trans cooler installed too. Only real issue with it is the almost soul crushing lack of aftermarket bolt on support for the engine, but anyone who knows where to go machine shop wise and really knows Honda engines won't have an issue getting it blueprinted and some parts made or found that fit right.
Did some work on the Slaab this past week. Went to do new spark plugs to find they're in near perfect shape, but one was so loose I could hand tighten it in, and found out for certain its oil leak is from its head. Also ditched its massive, heavy air intake for a simple Spectre one and it's one of the best things I've done for this car. Without its massively restricting intake and the weight of it its so much more responsive and sounds so great.
My brothers driver side locker on his truck catastrophically failed today when I asked him what he thought happened his reply was "oh it's probably cause the JB weld i used failed"........the what now failed? "the JB weld"........that's what I thought you said why in gods name is there JB weld anywhere near the lockers? "Because I had to fix it in georgia...if you think that's bad you should see the brakes" :pwn::suicide::suicide:
Does he have a school hallway on the side of his truck?
Does he have a school hallway on the side of his truck?
nope just one very grenaded locking hub and somewhere around 250$ worth of parts to buy lol

Anyone have experience with Nexen tyres? They seem to be middle of the road in terms of price but the guys I work with said they're pretty reputable and they're reliable tyres. At the moment I have Nankang winter tyres on the car, the fronts are done and I want to save the rear ones for when we have colder weather again, so I ordered a full set that should be here in a couple of days.
Today I had to stay home from work since there was no babysitter available for my son. So we took my daughter to preschool, and we went out to grab a dougnut and some orange juice, came home, and tore into the 1974 Dart. He's only 2 but he helps find stuff. I managed to get the headliner in finally, the one I had sewn up. It's not perfect, kind of meh, but it is better than no headliner and dynamat on the ceiling. It looks more "complete". And I got out the thermador that I made from a fire extinguisher and bolted it to the 74 this time. Yeah buddy... Rocket launcher.

There's nothing wrong with C series cars at all other than the headgaskets and EGR nightmares that can happen. I'd recommend an Acura Legend over the Accord V6 though personally, it's just far more car if you can find a great one for similar money. The Accord V6 cars are also pretty uncommon and parts are probably more difficult to find, I'd hate to see what it takes to source all the front end panels which are different.
That's true of any ugly car though.
I don't think a PT Cruiser could grow on me until either it had 600hp and I ripped the drivetrain out of it to put in a $2000 Neon and made a ton of money selling a garbage car with a random swap in it. I suppose some other ugly cars like the Juke could grow on you in the way that it's different but I don't imagine growing to think the car is a damn good looking car? The bugeyes are a really hate it or love it thing, some people greatly despise them and some people love them. Most girls usually think they look cute which is why there's so many female Integra owners, although that's same with Miatas but I honestly can't recall the last time I saw a woman driving a Miata. Japan really disliked the front, that's why it was only offered in 93 and 94 partially and on a few oddball models like the Xi 4WD which was a single cam ZC automatic AWD version.
Speaking of headliners, I need to get this ratty (literally) pile of garbage out of the Pinto. Any advice on taking out headliners, or is there no universal method? [editline]27th April 2015[/editline] Also, how'd you make your own? I'd definitely take interest in that rather than shelling out for someone else to do it.

For me it was every 20". That gives you the support that holds it up to the ceiling. You can use pretty much any fabric. I found $15 worth of camel suede and just turned it around so the suede is not the side showing. It's a good stretchy type fabric. Once you have the loops, you slide your bows through it. Then you install the bows into their holes in the ceiling, and stretch the fabric from the center forward, then from the center back, and put it back on the spikes then tuck it in. Then stretch left and right similarly. If you have an ABS headliner, you're out of luck other than to buy a repro one. To remove, you have to unscrew everything from the ceiling - the mirror, visors, coat hooks, interior light, etc... then if it's an older pinto, it should have spikes. The spikes are under the windshield trim and the back under a piece of plastic trim, pop the fabric off the spikes and rip it down. Simple as that.

I stripped out the carpet a long time ago but never got around to the headliner. That and the dash are all that are left in the interior. Now that school is nearly done, I really want to get back to working on it.
Power went out at 9:00 this morning. I just hooked up the welding machine to the house (it doubles as an 8.5kw generator), got a call from my dad to un-hook it because the power is supposed to be back on tonight. Unfortunately, we have more bad storms coming in overnight, so it's a toss up. We had several tornadoes around the area this morning, but I don't think anyone was killed or hurt, just tree limb damage.
So, question. Do pedal boxes have a way to adjust the positioning of the pedals with respect to one another, or do you need to replace the box to get the pedals to sit differently? I would really like to adjust my brake pedal back so that it's even with my gas pedal, but I've never done anything like that.
Would 3M 425 Foil tape suffice to patch a small hole in my maxima's flex pipe?
May want 3311 if it'll be in contact with chemicals, but 425 should work okay I believe.

You usually disconnect the pedal from the rod, spin the rod in one direction or another, then reattach and see where it puts it. The gas pedal is usually not adjustable I'd think, that was only really needed on throttle cable cars.
Being as it has an electronic adjust on it where the pedals come back and forth together, I doubt it's a physical connect to the master cylinder, but I'll check when I get a chance. It's always been something that's bugged me in that car but I never really thought of until tonight on my drive home.

Nah. I keep a pretty easy kill switch not too far away.
Nah. I keep a pretty easy kill switch not too far away.
Skynet will be aware of the kill switch and over-ride.

To prevent something like that you could put a copper mesh (cage?) around your electronics to prevent outside attacks. I kinda want to test this. Do yourself a favor, put a few rounds in the transmission now, just to be sure it will work later. I have no electronic systems to corrupt in my car, it's even EMP proof. The radio might get messed up, but that's about it.
AA V8: Terminator is Now a Reliable Resource.
Everyone band together and shoot your cars a few times just to make sure you're one of the safe ones without a car that will become self-aware. If the car responds in a friendly manner, or starts monologuing about "immenent threats" you should consider yourself lucky because you probably have a transformer.
FUCK. YES.
