All in all, if you want to REALLY learn how to car, get something from the 60s-70s to play with. You'll learn just about everything there is to learn about motors, tranny systems, brakes (drum and disk) and the old way of doing things with everybody's favorite, VACCUM!

Also the city has been making a big push on the "joltin joe" which was Joe Dimaggio's boat gifted to him by the Yankees.
They called in everybody to come help finish it for the Tahoe boat show this Friday. So the whole boat is just being shoved to completion. I had my friend come in who's an excellent sign painter of the classic style, and he hand painted the name on the transom, and hand painted the CF numbers and "Chris Craft" script on the hull of the boat. I used to build signs with him and he was eager to come be a part of it.

Then the city called in a carpetting company, and they came and put the linoleum on all the plywood floors. These boats had linoleum traditionally as a higher end option. They did it lightning quick. Usually we spend a while painstakingly doing it, but they had it patterned, cut, and down, in about two hours, so everything else can go together now.

That there is just a Mustang II, which is really only good for its front end, makes for an awesome conversion for a more modern feel in your older mustang.
I guess what I was trying to say "generation" wise is that the 67(which is have) was the second iteration of the mustang styling. First "gen" is like 64 1/2-66 and second "gen" is 67-68. Fucked up my wordage I guess.
I do not want the job of hand painting letters like that. Of course once you're a pro I'm sure it's 2nd nature, but omg just the thought of attempting that.. my first sign painting attempt would be something along the lines of;
Yeah my old boss told me about how he scoured the junkyards in the country for his parts and play with on his own Evo back in Japan. I would love to go through the same thing.
I'll see what I can get for a 12-month stay, I COULD start off another lease for a Honda under my name since it would exactly 12 months before I go overseas and I could use a decent credit history, so I could use this moment to get the feel for another car that I plan on sticking to for a while.
Well if you just wanna build credit history, buy a low mile Honda Fit. Those things don't depreciate at all and in 2-3 years it will be worth the same amount if you don't drive it. :v:
Just make sure you store it inside of a garage or something, letting cars sit outside for a few years really ruins them.
The Fit wouldn't be too much of a financial drain, you can put it on storage insurance through USAA if you get a loan that doesn't suck from a credit union or something. I'd just assume you'd want to pay cash and buy whatever you get overseas outright instead of messing with international lending or whatever nightmare that might ensue but I'm sure people over there already know how it works. You'd just need to want a Fit, getting a couple years down on a decent car loan helps immensely so when it came to buy what you wanted in Japan you should be solid actually.
It all really just depends on what you want to do and how you want to do it, just don't get stuck with a bunch of shitty expensive cars that are worth half what you paid for them and can't get out of them. I have a couple buddies who've lost 5k+ at least on cars in the military, I'd make a plan which accounts for the worst possible circumstances and stick to it

Facelift is the word you're looking for. Different generations generally mean comprehensive overhauls of the mechanics and aesthetics, whereas facelifts are generally just minor tweaks to the design.
Did front brakes on my Integra a few days ago. My Hawk HPS pads were pretty worn down after 30k miles and probably what should have been 3 sets of rotors but instead was one set of shitty autozone shit blanks that were warped as shit. For the first time when brakes because I bought all Centric parts, I didn't come into a nightmare job of brakes. Instead everything went totally text book and smooth. Well at least until I went to compress the second caliper and I totally flooded brake fluid everywhere all over my firewall and the garage floor....
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/DC%20Pics/2015-07-21%2018.07.06.jpg[/t]
Garbage ass pads, sure if you autocross they might be worth the cash but bigger brakes would be 20x better. They dust like hell and don't even work great. I paid like $90 for them... I just bought Centric blanks for the front and Centric Stoptech pads for about $60, I'm far happier with these than those Hawks. They're a far better street/daily pad but still have plenty of bite and resist fading. They're much more linear at all temperatures and don't dust like hell.
I also changed a motor mount on my Civic today, this is the 4th time in a row that I've worked on cars and my brand new car parts required to be murdered with a bench grinder. The inner collar of the mount was 3mm too wide to fit between the ears. I tried grinding down some and bending the ears on the front subrame apart but when I went to bend the ears my tool exploded and I sliced 3 of my fingers up and part of my forearm. Cleaned out my cuts, bandaided them up and fucking jammed that piece of shit mount into the bench grinder until the rubber started burning up :v:
So much for doing a rear mount also, the bolts that mount it are literally in a 3-4" gap between the bottom of the firewall, brake lines, subframe and steering rack. I think I'll try filling up the old front mount with 3M window weld to make a ghetto solid poly mount to stiffen up the motor instead. That'll be a fun project.
It seems like the most useful tools I've used in the last year are bench grinders, hammers and little ratcheting knob wrenches
My EP3 gave me a damn heart attack earlier, so yesterday, my thermostat was acting up, it wasn't opening and water squirted out when it finally did, so I was going to go out and buy a new one today (Then I found out that EP3 Thermostats are dumb as fuck and cost 40 dollars because they are built into the housing.) So I decided to test it first, I boiled water, put it in and it opened and closed just fine. So that worried me that if it's shooting out water and my thermostat was working, I was hoping that it wasn't my headgasket, so I went out and put it back in, got the radiator back in, put water in it, waited for it to get too operating temp and it opened fine. It seem to work fine now, the only thing that worried me for a while was the bubbles/foam, they did go away after a while (After all, car hasn't been ran longer then 40 minutes since October.) Guess it had a lot of air in the system as they finally stopped after ten minutes or so. Then it stayed cool and no more bubbles, so I'm glad it wasn't the head gasket (Or hopefully it's still not. Dunno what else I can tell if I have one as oil is fine and no mysterious smoke out of exhaust, only moisture. I haven't checked spark plugs yet but there easy, I'll do it.
Wait, is America going the way of Europe now? Smaller engines but more efficient at squeezing every ounce of power out? I know Mercedes is getting nearly 400HP out of a 4 cylinder now along with Alfa Romeo's amazing 1.75TBi used in the 4C which pumps out 240HP.
It'll be sad to see big displacement engines go because, damn that engine sound. But I suppose they are getting V6s pretty efficient now (see Alfa Guilia's).

V6 Rentalstang.
The V6 still exists because there are people so amazingly retarded that they will buy the V6 over the ecoboost because "no replacement for displacement" and other retarded bad opinions. Those are often the same people who buy new "muscle" cars. Turbo and EFI > carbs and displacement. We really fucking need some inline 6 motors again, imagine a Mustang with one of those sexy ford aussie turbo inline 6's.
Omg, imagine a ecoboost inline 6.

Ford is the only american manufacturer to not suck at cars, GM makes shitbox rental Malibus and Chrysler desperately uses Fiat. Ford has always done decent in the UK and we now basically get all of the euro models. GM is surviving solely on brand loyalty on everything other than the glorious LS based platforms which are stupid good motors. Dodge sells the Dart and the 200 which are just Fiats even though they made one of the few decent american cars in the 90-00's. The Neon which I'd rate just above a Focus or Caviler.

Actually, I don't understand how GM works. The Cruze is built off an Opel platform which GM owns Opel and all the Vauxhalls are the same thing. So GM does make okay cars I guess but that's only if you consider a Cruze or a Cobalt to be decent.

If you want to get some good credit history, coming from someone who is in the process of building their credit, just a loan/lease won't be enough. You need to show history on both a static (loan) AND a revolving (Credit Card) account to maximize your credit gain.
When I first started 3 years ago, I though just loans would suffice. Starting with no credit, I got a $2,000 signature loan from my credit union, then a $10,000 vehicle loan a year after that. After 2 years of paying on them, my credit score was still only in the "average" range. The key piece I was missing was a REVOLVING credit account (I.E. Credit Card). So I went back to my credit union, got a credit card with a $500 limit, even though I was approved for up to $1,000 limit. Why the low limit? $500 is a large enough to pay my monthly bills (vehicle insurance, cell phone, school, etc.), yet so small that I can't really use it for anything else even if I wanted to, and I can pay it off with a single 2 week paycheck, and have money left over. So I put my monthly bills to autopay to the card, leave the card in my safe at home, and pay it down to $10 every paycheck (you want to leave a little balance). After 3 months of this, the additional revolving account brought my credit score up from the bottom of the "average" rating to the middle of the "Good" rating, and it's still rising.
Credit is a bit confusing at first, but once you understand it, it's not bad. A lease would be a good static account. You just need to add a revolving one (and use it) to maximize your score gains.

Transcend DrivePro or bust. It's the best one and it's full of features, cannot recommend it more. I have the D220 which I managed to snag on the prime sales.
It's parked at my work now, but it's so frustrating that it needs a couple of tax plates before i can drive it on the roads.
So far I have only driven it in and out of the workshop garage each morning and afternoon. It really needs to stretch its legs soon.

The G1W series is still considered on top as far as bang to buck ratio, about $60 to buy the camera with 32Gb Transcend card.
It does 720@60, but 1080@30 is preferred as that extra resolution helps catch license plates.
G1WH has a 140° recording angle, auto recording, etcetera.
The Drivepro has Wifi, GPS, etc and costs twice as much on its sale at the moment. GPS can really bite you in the ass with how speed is displayed on videos (e.g. someone causes accident while you are both exceeding speed limit. You need unedited tape to prove you are innocent, but unedited tape shows you going over the limit.) Wifi is nice if you can use it, it has an extra 20° of recording over the G1WH.
Unless you really need the features, save $60 and get a G1W/G1WH.

Just get the D210 instead then, no GPS but has WiFi. You can always disable the GPS too.
Brother got his eclipse fixed after it wouldn't idle and kept throwing a random misfire code. Turned out to be the crank position sensor. He got his car back last week and this morning after a stupid long fucked up week at work, he was getting food on his way home and the passenger side front ball joint busted in the McDonalds parking lot. No warning, he was just idling along and it popped. Good thing Friday is payday.

I6 motors aren't really made for cars anymore because of how fucking enormous they are. With hoods getting smaller and smaller, building an engine that's as long as a V12 isn't viable, especially considering that it is very difficult to squeeze an I6 into a transverse engine bay.
I6s are best known for their smoothness, so I don't think they would be a very fitting engine choice for a Mustang considering the whole car is about RAWR VROOM VROOM.
It'd be a great engine for a reborn Ford Thunderbird, though.

the V6 malibus are actually really good cars. they're fast enough to have fun in and handle surprisingly well for a front wheel drive car. Not civic or lancer good, but better than a camry or accord. Plus, that motor is a damn solid one. I bought one with a rod knock (the seller apparently wasn't big on maintenance, there was no oil on the stick when I checked it) about 5 years ago for $300 and it lasted me until november of last year, and I was doing a lot of full throttle in that thing.
