I mean they are both technically split 5 spoke wheels but one set are shitty wheels on a pos van and the others are forged lightweight r33 gtr wheels.

I mean... it's a better and safer plan than chloroform.. so...
I mean... it's a better and safer plan than chloroform.. so...
And you get to tinker with cars, so that's an added perk.

I just missed out on what seemed like a pretty decent deal regarding car service due to not having money right this moment representatives from a pretty well reputable local company were doing a door to door deal for the first 50 customers, guy that came around was down to the last deal on his thing (was like a booklet with pages ripped out next to a stack of signed names), discounting all major labor costs for a year on any services/repairs, free oil changes etc for a year, as part of a marketing initiative to attract more clients but i'd have to have booked in a service and pay the upfront fee in order to get in on it, and I just don't have the money to get my car serviced until probably the end of the month which sucks a bit because it means i'll have to pay more than I could have if I had the money now, due to labor costs, and my car's already well overdue for a service, would have been good in that sense + free labour for a year on any further work, but oh well
Sounds like a scam to me.
Sounds like a scam to me.
I will admit it might come accross a little dodgy but from a marketing perspective it's not a bad tactic, practically paying for it self through bringing in repeat customers/and word of mouth advertisement in the local area, people still have to pay for parts and stuff just discounted on the labour, there's also the possibility of clauses though to get more money outta someone despite the deal they were offering or who knows, it could be an outright scam by some clever fuckers not even affiliated with the company, either way i'm not in a position to find out more really, baring in mind it's a relatively small locally based company, I think it makes sense to do some form of door to door marketing as opposed shilling out a lot of money for say a TV ad as they've only got one establishment
Fine print mate. After you payed the fee and had it serviced turns out you dont qualify and they pocket it all.
wouldn't be surprised if something like that did happen to be honest but wouldn't that give them a bad rep amongst the locals?
Never trust anyone selling anything door to door
wouldn't be surprised if something like that did happen to be honest but wouldn't that give them a bad rep amongst the locals?
Yes but that kind of stuff happens all the time in every city. The garage that did my dads brakes years ago is still in business they didnt replace the fluid they bled so he had no brakes at all when he left the shop.
Here's a few snaps from my MacKenzie Country romp and the trails around the Waitaki. ] P7130283 Those classics are owned by a guy at the Burkes Pass Store. We had a nice chat about the mint condition Jag there. NZ new, apparently.

The garage that did my dads brakes years ago is still in business they didnt replace the fluid they bled so he had no brakes at all when he left the shop.
it's for the best I couldn't take them up on it only to find it out it was a scam, but on the off chance it was a genuine deal that wouldn't fuck me over, it sucks a bit to miss out on in a sense, but being realistic what are the odds I know it's wiser to be skeptical and not risk it on these kind of things in general, and that was the kind of assumption I made as to one of the possible poor outcomes; they do the work, but then intentionally leave something out or dodge you in order to get you back in sooner in order to grab more money out of you, honestly, considering I've heard of that kind of thing happening with other mechanics around here, and not even as part of a promotional deal, it's probably safe to say the risk would have outweighed the reward ideally i'd like to do work on my car myself, just need to get it serviced and checked out asap as it's well overdue (nearly a year and around 100k km since the last one was 'due') like yeah it drives fine still, running strong, but you know, I haven't got the skills to give it an extensive run down and check to see if there's anything that's close to giving out, at surface value it seems more or less fine with exception of the weak battery that keeps dying on me if I don't drive the car every day, and a very slow oil leak (dipstick still hasn't dropped below 'full' since I got the car)
read online watch youtube vids and you should be able to do everything basic the AA thread is helpful and unless you are like that guy with the stuck lug nut you will be fine(good god anyone still have pics of that?)
So this gasket got so bad that when I'd take turns, launch hard, or brake quickly, gas would come out of the tank and all over my legs and crotch. Not fun. Reeking of gas at work is unprofessional. I have a new IMS gas cap/gasket on the way but it won't be here til Saturday... Cycle gear doesn't sell this particular IMS cap or gasket, so I cruised to home depot in search of something that would get me by til Saturday. After 30 minutes, I found a bathtub drain gasket - 2 7/8" of rubber surround. Trimmed that down to the 2 5/16" gasket diameter in the cap of the desert tank and BAM I have a working ghettogasket! Should tide me over til Saturday and hopefully won't degrade in that time from the gas. Hasn't leaked once. $2 fixes are always fun. [t]http://i.imgur.com/dkmjW95.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/4HLp2zf.jpg[/t] Ironically, while testing out this fix, the old cracked carburetor boot on the (output?) head side decided it was time to slip off. Always fun having your bike stall and have to try to shimmy dead cracked dry ass boots back into place with a tiny screwdriver on the side of road. So glad I'm installing all new parts this weekend.
I went ham on the KLR this weekend. -Cleaned, rebuilt, and tuned the carb -Replaced both intake boots -Replaced several old vacuum lines (and got rid of those shitty stock hose clamps) -Resurfaced the rear rotor and replaced the pads -Bled the brakes -Replaced the petcock -Drilled, plied, and cussed at what seemed like hundreds of rusted screws and bolts and replaced them with allen heads -Repaired several poor electrical connections, which brought the entirely cut temp sensor back online -Plastidipped the skidplate And thanks to my buddy, who with his awesome discounts at Cycle Gear acquired and: -Oiled and installed a new UNI air filter -Replaced both (severely bent) levers -Replaced and greased the clutch cable ...which then caused me to spend 20 minutes adjusting the clutch until it was just right. I planned on painting the plastics but just ran out of time. Tomorrow I'm going to bypass the kickstand/clutch safety switch because it's being a PITA.
It's Monday.... It's 6:30... The boss is late... I'm thinking about just going back home...... And getting another not so under paid job..
