My car is finally back on the road. Let's recap what happened: E-brake snapped from the caliper Alternator was overcharging. Had to get new rear calipers for the E-brake. Noticed the rear end was leaking, so had to put in a new deal where the driveshaft goes in. Changed the battery because it had a dead cell, and we thought that was the problem. Had to go back and change the alternator because the dead battery cell was NOT the problem. Went to pick it up, and electrical system was fine, e-brake was fine, but after about 30 minutes of driving, it started overheating. My radiator fan was not working. Got home yesterday, got it up to operating temp and checked the prongs on the radiator plug. Wasn't getting power to the fan. Checked the fuse box and had a burnt 40 amp radiator fan fuse. Replaced the fuse, and now she runs perfect.

Went to a shop today where you can rent time on their lift and tools ($30/hr) and work on your car. Did an oil change today. Saw this poor Trans Am in the parking lot. My keyfob died :( I can't start my car without disabling the alarm. It could be $75 for a new battery or ~$350 to fix/replace it and code it. Fuckoff, just disable the Viper security and I'll just use my power locks. Its a goddamn hyundai.
I have a problem, the roomies maxima is throwing the code p0745 for the pressure line solenoid in the trans. I need a diagram for the transmissions wiring but I can't find any and the Power Library resources thing wont let me on the site, and hasn't for weeks, keeps bitching about how I'm not in Pennsylvania. So far I've gotten the drop resistor off and tested it, seems fine, but I don't know what ohms it's supposed to be resisting so that's moot. I really hope I don't have to drop the fucking pan on it just to fucking play with the solenoid to make sure it works...
I thought you lived in oklahoma?
Nah, I'm in Houston
I'd drive the wheels off that thing it's cool as fuck
That front grille and splitter/Valance/whatever it's kinda trying to not do to well looks ugly af. Fucking really, edit tags. What? Hopefully this works decently enough.
Hey! I'm fat too! And I'm 6'4". All my collegues laugh and point everytime i squeeze my way into the Supra. I'm comfortable as hell once I'm inside but the journey from outside to inside is not pretty. That's me [t]https://scontent-ams3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/t31.0-8/10499447_10152553498749035_3435910648433880072_o.jpg[/t] How the fuck do you fit inside an MR2 if you're bigger than an average sized 12 year old japanese child?
I'm the same height, and weight about 210. With the fixed bucket seat I still have 2" of head room maybe 3. I don't hit my head when I hit bumps so I'm on the edge of the height threshold. Before I had to go pretty close to gangster style lean to fit without hitting my head on bumps. Honestly, it's like a clown car, so when I get out it looks ridiculous.
Picked up a transmission filter and pan gasket today. Refreshingly cheap

The car was low enough most people thought I could never get into it, but it was actually really comfortable. Now with my current car there's not even any challenge to sitting comfortably with a good 4" or more of headroom and absolutely more than enough legroom to get in and out without hitting the steering wheel. An '08 Accord, even though it looks more normal sized, is terrible. I always bashed my knees on the stupid dashboard because they extend it out to a point like flush with the steering wheel and once inside I might have 1/2" of headroom before touching the headliner.
my aunt has a 4 door mercedes sedan of some sort that's really bad. I'm not an incredibly big guy by any means but the best I can do is knees touching the dash and head touching the headliner that car is really awful to be in for anyone who's not 5 feet tall
VWs are bad, too. First trip to Germany my host family had a Cabrio I always got stuck in the backseat of, and holy shit was that awful feeling. Amazing what 'Four-passenger coupe' in Europe means to Americans... '2+2'
At PepBoys waiting for battery/alternator testing and an employee says 'why would a young guy like you buy a shitbox like that" while pointing at my car. Talked to the manager and got a $50 credit for not filing a complaint  [editline]28th July 2015[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/GVUAuoh.jpg[/t] Well that explains it.

Buddy at work bought a 2015 genesis coupe yesterday. I'm actually kind of jealous. That v6 actually sounds pretty good too. [editline]28th July 2015[/editline] Mother fucker can't even drink yet and he bought a brand new car. ;-;
stay away from walmart batteries dude. my napa battery has lasted me 9 years
stay away from walmart batteries dude. my napa battery has lasted me 9 years
My duralast has never had an issue in the wicked cold of winter and the melting heat of summer
I've had duralast batteries die with one hell of a quickness
Some kid rear ended me when I was at a light when I was coming back from a delivery. The good news is that my rear bumper was one of those plastic things and you can hardly tell that it got rear ended. The bad news is that the kid's front end of his car got fucked.
Bad news for him, pretty inconsequential for you.
Bad news for him, pretty inconsequential for you.
It just felt quite odd to be rear ended. You always mentally rehearse and try to get ready and think what you'll do if it happens, but you forget all of it when it happens. I didn't tell the insurance folks, not only because the kid was welling up and already having a bad enough day but also because I didn't want my own rates going up for a scratch that you can't even tell is there unless you're specifically looking for it.
I got rear ended at a stop light last winter in my truck, didn't scratch my truck but absolutely destroyed the front end of the focus that hit me.
stay away from walmart batteries dude. my napa battery has lasted me 9 years
Oh trust me, I know it's junk. I just needed one since it was one of those things which the previous owner hadn't replaced and it was one of the first things I replaced on the car other than oil changes back when I knew nothing about cars. I hate the damn thing and it does a shit job of being a battery causing all sorts of hell when I turn on my headlights right after starting the car. Voltage drops are crazy when the alternator isn't spinning fast, it always starts though and doesn't show it's age that much really.
I got rear ended at a stop light last winter in my truck, didn't scratch my truck but absolutely destroyed the front end of the focus that hit me.
Did your truck have one of those fantastic plastic crap bumpers? Only now I can't call it crap anymore.
I've had duralast batteries die with one hell of a quickness
Were they originally charged by you, or the store? A lot of stores 'slam charge', fast charge, etc. Just to get them out the door and it generally kills the life of them. Im not sure if its that other batteries handle a slam charge better, or if other brands/stores dont slam charge, but im sure that if your Duralast batteries were in fact charged by the store that you would get a hundred times better results by getting the brand new battery and charging it yourself at 2A overnight.
A few years ago I got rear ended during a funeral procession. The thing is, our cars have a tow hitch, so the car of the guy who rear ended us had a huge hole in the front fascia, and we basically got a scratch on the hitch.
Always charge the battery at 20A or atleast until you can smell eggs/see the sides bulge I do remember checking the voltage one time during a 20A charge and it was like 16.2V. Like woah hold on crazy battery charger, no more 20A for you. On another note I've run the battery in my daily dead flat more times than it'd be healthy for an old battery since 2012 and it'll still start after 2 weeks of inactivity. I'd never put it on charge too after running it flat, Just drive home without stalling.
A mate of mine gave me these for free; Replaced the broken door speakers in my car with them and holy fuck they are good, complement the speakers behind the back seats so well I don't even need a sub :v:
