Serj/Sally, how hard/expensive is it to replace a vinyl top yourself? Should we bother to replace it or just paint the roof?
Strip off the vinyl top and repaint the roof. Vinyl tops are for pansies and rust loving fools.
Fuck everything. I go for a job interview and everything is going great >have any points on your license? >>yes sir, 4 from a few years ago >sorry insurance wont let me hire ya! And then I got to drive an hour and 10 minutes back home. [editline]1st May 2015[/editline] Damn. Fuck more of everything. I can just take a defensive driving course online. I've been putting it off because fuck going to a class an hour away 2 days in a row. I'm calling those fuckers up the second I finish this shit and it reflects the -2 points on my record.
I'm not shitting on it. I'm telling you the problem with those trucks.
Except they're not problems if they were there'd be a recall. And you word it with a shitty attitude.
Except they're not problems if they were there'd be a recall. And you word it with a shitty attitude.
I agree tmax sucks and has no idea what hes talking about most of the time, but car manufacturers for the most part really only recall shit if its a safety concern so they don't get sued, will give them bad press, or is a giant failure. just saying, your truck probably has problems that wont be recalled just like any other car. side note im quitting my job as a mechanic, im psyched... I can like cars again soon.

Because of the huge press and what not they still offer frame replacements on all Tacomas after a certain year and milage if you bring them to the dealer. Doesn't matter that it's a completely different truck more than a decade later, they still offer stuff if any problems are had.
Fuck everything. Insurance companies here can go back 3 years, in 6-8 weeks my last ticket drops my record and it'll be clean finally. We don't have points or any of that, it just depends on if you get tickets or not and how many the cop tries to throw at you.
I drove my grandfather's 2000 Lincoln Town Car today. I've determined that you don't just drive a Town Car; you navigate that car.
Did some rust treatment.. Ground down to the metal and then treated. The naval gel is fucking magic too. Was really impressed at it.
I drove my grandfather's 2000 Lincoln Town Car today. I've determined that you don't just drive a Town Car; you navigate that car.
As the owner of a Town Car I can say that this is true
Strip off the vinyl top and repaint the roof. Vinyl tops are for pansies and rust loving fools.
You usually cant just repaint, there's going to be rust damage and the roof seam will be caved in where the roof was welded to the quarters - guaranteed. Don't just pack it with bondo, cut a patch and weld it in place. The bondo will not fill that deep. To do vinyl yourself requires some kind of contact cement, a really clean and flat roof, and a lot of patience. You'll have to sew the top wherever it needs seams, which is usually where the rear roof pillars need to mate to the roof. I recommend ditching the vinyl as suggested.
Holy shit I just had the most understeering understeer ever. Came into a roundabout at 30-50km/h. Wanted to take the third exit and took the inner lane, at the corner the tyres just started slipping and took me straight out towards the second exit before gaining grip at the outer lane.
bought a bunch of drift car parts :) [t]http://i.imgur.com/jZm7V5b.jpg[/t] no more paycheck but now I can actually align the thing and the new coilovers are better and stiffer so im gonna lower it more :suicide:
Here's a newer one Grenadiac, tried to sync two videos. I think it worked ok. Gopro in the back, and a galaxy s3 up front at the same time. P.s. it's a loud video, but not a loud car really, you get the idea. If you watch closely at 0:51 something magical happens. What was that flying out at :51? It's odd hearing turbo whine from a muscle car. Is it possible to keep a deep rumble with a turbo?
Not if you're running a slant six :v: they sound like any other low compression, OHV straight six: Strangely like a lawnmower.
What was that flying out at :51? It's odd hearing turbo whine from a muscle car. Is it possible to keep a deep rumble with a turbo?
It was the locking nut off the blow off valve. Watch it throughout - it gradually spins off. Not planned, but now i know I need a nylock nut instead of the shoulder one they included. It's an adjustment part, not damaged. You can have a low sound, but the way I have my car setup is low backpressure, with a quieter exhaust. I wouldn't describe it as a rumble with the no exhaust. you can kind of hear what a slant six sounds like with no muffler, dumped after the manifold right here: I took off the cutout when the motor on it broke, leaving it open permanently. When I went to the exhaust shop to get a new custom exhaust I had them cut out the cut out and throw it away. This was also pre-turbo. I like having the car loud sometimes, but I definitly like the stealthy quiet better on the freeway. I'll probably do another cutout, but bigger eventually. Slant six isn't really going to sound like a v8, but they do have a nice note to them open-piped like this, but with a larger exhaust pipe. This was out of 1 7/8
... Strangely like a lawnmower.
No. Sewing machine.

Alright, so I replaced both the upper and the lower coolant hose on the Merc since both were beginning to deteriorate. Then I took it to a dealership to figure out why my brakes stopped working. Turns out the left rear brake had completely melted and the right rear brake was going out as well, though not melted stuck. The only re-usable part on the right rear brakes was the caliper, everything else had to be scrapped. Decided to get both rear calipers refurbished to OEM spec as it was both half price, but meant I could use the original parts for the car. S'all good. Also asked the mechanic to fit a few spark plugs because I had totally forgotten about them and they were in the back of the car. So now we're at Thursday last week, I drive away from the dealership and I notice a massive misfire on at least 2 cylinders. Back to the dealership! Apparently, a spark plug was defective at above 2000 RPM. Neat! Anyway, then that was sorted and I drove home and I noticed a massive squeaking sound from the left rear brake. It picks up the quicker you drive and the sound changes to a scrubbing squeak when I brake. It's still there when accelerating though, it honestly sounds like it gets louder when I accelerate. Then the servo-steering decided it didn't want to work at anything below 1500 RPM. Going to check the fluid level in it because it groans and moans at slow speeds instead of actually doing anything. Is that a bad pump or low fluid? And the most annoying thing atm is the steering rack itself has begun squeaking for no reason whatsoever. Every time I turn left, there's this rubber squeak from the floor-pan of the passenger side. It almost sounds like it's coming from inside the cabin. Some help with those noises would be cool, thinking about bringing it into the shop once again. [t]http://i.imgur.com/nwSbaEE.jpg[/t] [editline]€dit[/editline] oh and forgot to mention, the lights for the license plate on my w123 stopped working and now I need to figure out why they're not getting power. :v:
Hold on is that 440 cubic inches? There's a fucking 7.2L V8 in that car? The fuck?
Cadillac made a 500 cubic inch engine.

Go for it!!! We have a green one at my grandpas and its sooooooo pimp looking, like an old chrysler 300c. Lower it a little, tint the windows, gloss black paint, would be pimp. One of my favorite 4 doors. That 440 is also a good one, 375hp! Easy to mod.
Hold on is that 440 cubic inches? There's a fucking 7.2L V8 in that car? The fuck?
Welcome to America! We solve problems by throwing bigger engines in things, and occasionally throwing turbos or superchargers on them.
Cadillac made a 500 cubic inch engine.
My favorite fun car fact: the 1976 cadillac eldorado with the 500ci (8.2L) V8 made a whopping 190bhp that is just over 23hp per liter for contrast the current 2015 honda accord makes around 77hp per liter and the alfa 4c makes 137hp per liter [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline] albeit the caddy engine did make 360 lb-ft of torque in 1976, it clearly couldn't use all of it very efficiently

I've been having this same issue with mine. - Check the fuses on the W123, 80s Benzes love to eat fuses. Replace only with brass ceramic fuses or you're an A-list shmuck. - The steering squeak could be the idler arm. The idler arm is attached to the chassis via either the engine cradle (on 123 116 107 and 126) or maybe even the unibody itself. The idler arm is always on the passenger side of a left hand drive Mercedes. It's also pretty close to where you say the noise is coming from. There are several replacement kits for the bushings at the end of the arm, but go with Lemfoeder. This is an easy DIY that takes an hour if you aren't dicking around. As usual, try to diagnose first then inspect parts, then replace, but idler arm bushing sets are 30 bucks for top quality. Your 108 has more problems than my 126 it seems, but hey they are good cars to drive, as well as future investments. I don't know how things are in Europe but old Benz sedan values have exploded in the past year. Now if only I can find a W210 with no rust and a bad conductor plate :v:
