The 70s were the years of shitty american ideas for cars really. Smog helped that one a lot. You had a fleet average issue, gm thought emissions was a stupid joke that would go away eventually, socthey had things like pellet catalyst that would blow out the exhaust.... so they put a screen on it... so it wouldn't blow out, just rattle around for eternity. They alz o made that castrated 350. The 305 or something like that to have better fleet averages. That 500 was also restricted by its carburetor and they also dumped the c.r. that engine did make something like 400hp when it was built. Thats what the 70s did to engines. Even the 318 in the '74 we have is rated at 140hp or something like that, due to a 2bbl carb and whatever else chrysler did to make it more fuel efficient.
And what did Honda make in 1976? 2 liters-per-horsepower?
36hp from 600cc [1974] get rekt america [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline] and the same power was available in a 356c engine!
Cadillac made a 500 cubic inch engine.
I'm not surprised. What surprises me is what they choose to shove these engines into lol. I'm getting really fucking tired of working on my car now. Yesterday I swapped the driver's seat for the new leather/beige/ventilated one, and I think i may have cross threaded one of the bolts. Today I got the urge to install my amplifier so it'd be ready for a subwoofer, and now I can't get the fucking head unit out, and the keys are stuck in there somehow... Also, I was gonna change the driver side and rear carpet yesterday, but couldn't do either because I couldn't get the old ones loose.
And what did Honda make in 1976? 2 liters-per-horsepower?
Well their 1976 Accord pumped out 48HP per Liter. 78HP on a 1.6L engine. Their 1973 Civic produced 42HP per liter. 50HP on a 1.17L engine. Their 1971 Honda Life actually produced 97HP per liter if you count this particular engine. It was a 356cc inline two-cylinder used in a particularly small car but, after conversions, it did about 97HP/Liter (It produced 35HP as a 0.36L engine)
I can't get rid of this stupid grin on my face, when a guy i work with, just happened to roll by and asked if i wanted to go on a quick cruise :v:
Hold on is that 440 cubic inches? There's a fucking 7.2L V8 in that car? The fuck?
This is my buddy's '67 New Yorker sitting in my back yard right now. It's fucking massive, and it has the 7.2 in it as well. The best word to describe the car is smooth. [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/RdlAbv0.jpg[/t] That's me in the trunk, I'm only 5'3" but even lying down like that there's still 3-6 inches of width.
It's not even a true full-size sedan, but owning mine, I will never own anything smaller like that as my only vehicle again. It's so nice being able to fit four buddies comfortably and still have a massive trunk for everything else. For me, I can put two suitcases and three full-length rifles in my trunk with ease without putting the back seats down. With the seats down, I can still fit full-length pipe sections (10' long) and drive down the road when needed.

Applied for a few sponsorships, because I need racing and cooling parts. Of which the one I really am banking on is Mishi... we'll see what happens. I need to hit the strip. It's not super fast but it sure will be interesting...
Hey guys so I'm wiring up my ford's wiring harness to my new stereo wires. I have a question. I know it's all matching wires BUT: My harness' blue/white wire says "amp turn on (12v+)" and the stereo's blue/white wire says "system remote control" Should I not wire them together?
Have you tried local businesses a lot of speed freaks have rather mundane businesses? [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline]
Yes I have looked into it actually. A lot of them sponsor one car already. Mostly 50s classics. Also Mishi has a lot of stuff I need/want.
Guise pls
Hey guys so I'm wiring up my ford's wiring harness to my new stereo wires. I have a question. I know it's all matching wires BUT: My harness' blue/white wire says "amp turn on (12v+)" and the stereo's blue/white wire says "system remote control" Should I not wire them together?
The amp turn on 12v+ is your ignition wire on the harness. The system remote control from the head unit is to be plugged into external audio amplifiers to signal them when the head unit is on, so they know when to turn on and off since they are generally wired directly to the cars battery. Based on what you described the amp turn on from the harness should go to your amplifiers ignition power wire, since the head unit has both a 12v constant and 12v ignition to signal when to turn the head unit on, the system remote control from the HU is meant for connecting to external amps. More simply put the "Amp turn on (12V+)" will only supply power when the key is in the ignition and the car is on, so the HU can turn on and off with the car. The blue wire will only supply power when the HU is on, to tell external amps to turn on and off with the HU and not stay on 24/7.

Attach them. It's a signal wire to allow an amplifier to turn on. You can leave them both disconnected if you have no amplifier.
how the hell did he get it
He built it?
...So do I connect them or not? [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline] I already connected them (since they were both blue/white) before I noticed they said different things. Should I disconnect them or can I leave them connected?
...So do I connect them or not?
Do not connect them, you will fry the head unit. Serj22 meant if you have an external amp, like a subwoofer amplifier. The 12v on the harness side is used to tell the head unit to turn on, its an output from the car to the head unit. The Remote wire on the hu is used to turn external amplifiers on, and is an output from the hu. By plugging these wires together you'll have a 12v signal coming from the car attached to a 12v signal coming from the hu, and will short out. Leave the remote wire disconnected.

The green, purple, gray, and white wire pairs are speakers. Red is to turn the head unit on when the key is turned Yellow is constant 12v power - basically straight to the battery Black is ground. Blue/White is a remote switch, amp lead. Orange and Brown are for power antenna and light dimming. I don't remember which is which. Also if you have a parking brake lead, I believe that has to be connected to allow it to turn on, or maybe it's that when connected it turns off -I've never dealt with them. Just turn the car on and try it. You're fine.

If you ever do decide to get an external amp either for your speakers or a subwoofer, you can use the blue wire from the head unit to trigger it on or off. I've only seen parking brake leads on nav units which have to be used in order to use the HU media and navigation functions, however most HU have either a switch or solder-able connection to bypass it. I guess his ford had external amplifiers if it came with a remote wire

I'm not gonna wire it up. [editline]2nd May 2015[/editline]
Orange is for dimming but aftermarket HU rarely use those. I assume it's to lock you out of watching video while driving. At this junction I'm pretty sure that the "system remote" wire is if I wanted to add in a remote control for play/pause/skip/etc on the steering wheel.
