Hey, when I bought my car, it only ran on 5 cylinders too. :v:
Same with mine too. Then it ran on 4 before I fixed it. Yeah. That took forever to find a spot I wanted...
So a guy on Craigslist said he'd sell me his 3800sc M90 Eaton Super Charger for $100. Is that a good deal?
So a guy on Craigslist said he'd sell me his 3800sc M90 Eaton Super Charger for $100. Is that a good deal?
No you can get a Gen III M90 for 40-75$ on most grand prix boards. Gen V goes for 150-300$, though. Could probably pull one for 50$ at a pick and pull.
Worst part is they all looked like richer kids (I live in a rich area of westchester)
late but where specifically (out of curiosity). I live in a rich area of westchester and I know some sketchy kids in my grade, one of which has a new MDX
Hey guys is $50 a fair price for a decent condition drop in bedliner with tailgate liner for a 6.5' truck bed? I feel like it is considering they're a couple hundred new right?
What happens when you leave your petcocks turned on for 2 weeks by accident?? You get 2 gallons of gas in your crank case. Yikes. I went to start my bike tonight and thought 'huh.. guess I left them on last I rode it'. Oh, I did. And as soon as it started it blasted gasoil through the crank vent all over for the second or so I let it run before killing it. What a mess. Well.. I needed to change the oil anyways. I couldn't believe how much leaked in there. I had JUST filled it up, too. 2 gallons of gas wasted.

I leave my petcocks open, how did gas get down there?
I'll be honest.. I've considered running those 2 gallons through my daily. Can't bring myself to do it, though. Every carb is a bit different, I guess. These petcocks are vacuum operated, so only open when the engine is running. When they're left to 'prime' they're free to flow to the carbs as much as they want. Slowly it leaks past whatever seal is supposed to stop when the float raises when the bowl fills, and then it leaks into the intake and through any open intake valves, and into in the combustion chamber, then past the rings and into the crankcase finally.

Every time I get updates on the toyota, the less appealing it looks. :/ It's awesome but eh..

I'd rather do that than throw way $10+ worth of gas and oil lol, provided you don't try to run it off only that you would put more shit in your tank by using marvels mystery oil or some other similar additive. It sounds like he's actually really familiar with it and is actually disclosing everything about it instead of just lying about everything.
Anyone here want to buy some Corbeau seat brackets for a Corvette C5? lol
I need a vw expert, or at least someone who owns a running beetle. On my dune buggy, I just noticed whenever its running, air is blowing out of the nozzle on the oil fill tube, what I assume to be the oil breather. Does this normally blow air, or does it mean my rings are shot? Also even with a properly jetted single progressive carb, there is absolutely no throttle response and it has barely enough power to get through 1st gear.
I drove a VW E-up today, one of these: Even though it's a single speed, it was still loads of fun to drive. Trying to use the least amount of electricity possible was really exciting, and I did well. It also had a good bit of punch to it, not nearly as much as a Tesla, but definitely good enough. After I got to where I was picking up the owner, I had over half a charge left from full, and both the owner and her father had said I HAD to charge it when I got there, or I wouldn't be able to get back, guess she's just heavy footed. The car thought well of me as well: [t]http://i.imgur.com/LsbDjy1.jpg[/t] 99/100, would drive again.

How about pulsing air? Some air blowing out is normal.... Check compression if all is well dont worry about it.
Yeah, it blows much harder than I would expect it should, and sometimes smokes a little after shutting it off. My friend knows a guy who ive heard is a beetle expert, or at least adept. Were gonna ask him to have a look and give us a diagnosis on the whole thing, because anything is better than us fucking with it without any idea what were doing.

Thats how people self teach. You will then learn what works, what doesn't, and how to fix it when you have a issue. I say run the shit out of it untill it shows low compression signs. The smoke part is kinda normal. Do you have the Oil PCV Tube on it? Should hook up right next to the filler cap and go to the clean side of the air filter.
Air filter is in the mail. Yeah I've learned a lot from that piece of junk, but now I would l like it to actually work. Nothing we do ever makes it run any better, and I wouldn't be surprised if something internal is fucked up and everything we've done was just smashing our heads on the wall.
Or less if you know the guy at the desk at said pick and pull
Yeah, either ways Gen III S/C are cheap as fuck. 3800's guy will only buy them to either top-swap N/A motors or just to replace a busted one(Which nearly never happens.) Hell I have one that's been collecting dust since nearly 3 years now(That I will never use either.). Gen V on the other hand, those serious on building M90 set ups will go that way and they're rarer so they cost a tad more.
So I finally tried to put the exhaust I bought for the Civic on to replace the piece of shit that was on it that droned like hell and didn't allow a rear swaybar. [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5601782/EF%20Pics/2015-04-16%2018.15.09.jpg[/t] Fits like ass, flange contacts gas tank seam. Drove over today but they were busy I guess, it goes in tomorrow. Should be able to get the shitty hangers sorted too. Oh well, I can't believe I actually got my hopes up that someone makes a good aftermarket product that doesn't demand a premium.
Just ordered a full set of Old Man Emu springs, steel rims, sway bar quick disconnects, and 31" tires for my 4.6 Range Rover. Can't wait until this all gets here. Should be about a 4" lift when I'm done. I'm going to retrofit an old steering guard for a Range Rover Classic on there as well, and more than likely build my own snorkel. I'll try to get some good pics of the transformation. Anyone have any experience with Terrafirma? Debating getting their +2 shocks over the OME offerings.
Last Z part order comes in tonight, can't wait to start the grind.
I'm so happy! I learned that a Chrysler ECU from a 3.8L 1991-94 van will run any 3.8L from 91-00! It's really really hard to find a 3.8L from the second gen vans, since there was only one year with them. But now that I know that I can easily get it done! Junk yards around here have tons of third gens! Woohoo! Oh and hopefully if I can find a cheap Eaton M90, going to try and super charge it for giggles. Wonder what a 3000lb 3.8L car with a super charger could do.
People did GM 3800 S/C swaps on minivans, still a minivan but they did manage to get them in the 15 seconds bar. Go ask over on grandprixforums.net and ask if someone has one for sale or go over a pickandpull. You can find the blower on Regal GS, Impala SS, Montecarlo SS, Riviera, Bonneville SSEi, Grand Prix GTP, and a few other cars. From 1996 to 2005.

It has a little more power than the 3.8, but it makes up for that advantage by weighing a bit more. Take that info for what you will. I have no idea what rear end I have and I'm sure my NAG has a far better ratio than whatever a nineties Chrysler will have, but... meh...
I doubt it would outpace my Charger. Pretty hard to be a 3.05 rear powered by a 5.7L HEMI. The the Daytona should.. Let me do some math... My Charger has a Power-To-Weight ratio of: 11.884 The Daytona with the 3.8L: 13.953 but it would have a 4:1 trans axle, and I'm not sure what a Chrysler 3.8L does with a blower, since no one has done it.
