I think I spent too much on car parts. I got a free shirt that isnt advertised on any site deals
O_o
So since I get to drive lots of cars, I'm going to do a valet review post series, which contains my first impressions after sitting in someone elses car for 10 minutes in Broad Street traffic in the great city of Philadelphia during rush hour.
This week I got to drive a 2013 Jaguar XJL supercharged
Unfortunately it was only on a return so I had no time to snap pics but the car looked just like this:

If you want a large car, forget the new S-Class, that Jag is a work of art.
Pluses:
- Looks awesome
- Sounds awesome
- 8 Speed auto shifts awesome
- Seats are perfect for my 150 pound frame
- Brake pedal feels sporty
- Drives a size smaller than it is
Minuses:
- Rear visibility sucks
- Visibility in general sucks
- People stare at you
- It's a PAIN IN THE ASS to drive slowly and the brake pedal goes full retard mode when you just tap it
- People love to cut you off
- Rotary shifter feels a little girly but not as girly as Chrysler products
9/10, Would buy
I'm not sure what a Chrysler 3.8L does with a blower, since no one has done it.
HA! You haven't looked very hard. Everyone at the turbododge forums would beg to differ and have put forced induction on everything. There's turbo'd minivans, blowers, etc... It's all there.
also look at turbomopar and theturboforums. Superchargers are there as well. It's been done. But the general consensus is that it DOES NOT WORK VERY WELL without building the motor.
I doubt it would outpace my Charger. Pretty hard to be a 3.05 rear powered by a 5.7L HEMI. The the Daytona should.. Let me do some math...
My Charger has a Power-To-Weight ratio of: 11.884
The Daytona with the 3.8L: 13.953 but it would have a 4:1 trans axle, and I'm not sure what a Chrysler 3.8L does with a blower, since no one has done it.
I think mine's the 4.something rear, but I haven't looked up my vin to really find out. Haven't really cared.
And I thought Dodge didn't make the Daytona with anything more than the 3.0L v6?

Yeah, the Daytona didn't come with anything bigger than a 3.0L, which is a Mitsubishi engine. I have lots of exeprience with the 3.3/3.8 family from owning one. So, I decided, lets get some more torque up in the bitch. I'm not advanced enough to turbo charge an engine, so I decided to go with more cubes. Andddd maybe super charge it if I can because it's dead simple.

I haven't deeply lusted after a modern car, particularly a high-end one, for quite a while. But that Alfa 4C, holy shit. I want one in my garage. I saw one over the weekend and it's truly stunning, also just read an ultra-praising review about it.

You should give me some extras ;)

overnight parts from japan?

Sure just give me a 180sx type x front bumper haha. 2 complete sets, and this pair makes 4 pairs not including the stock bimmer wheels. I planned on putting the r33 reps I had on the 240 on the bmw but they didnt really fit and im trying to eventually get rid of it so im not dumping alot more money into it.
I only buy wheels if I get a good deal on them. The brand new set of r33 replicas I bought actually went up in value because they are on galactic backorder.
Once I start shredding tires again id rather have tires mounted on wheels than be at the track changing tires.
overnight parts from japan?
basically but add a month
Went to look at the SHO today.
"runs great, mechanically sound" my fucking ass
It ran fine but it refused to rev past 5k and even then the thing felt sluggish as all hell; I drove an hour & 10 minutes one way to see the thing.
I /may/ still buy it but If he seriously thinks it's worth more than $1600 he's a moron, and I'm going to offer $1400 if/when I go back.
Literally felt nearly as slow as my civic.
So I made my offer at around 3k and he countered with $3500. Apparently he owes his dad money and 3 cars and a boat is enough. I said I'll think about it but feel free to sell it to anyone else in the meantime. He called me a flake and had a bit of a hostile tone so it completely turned me off from dealing with him. :c
Guess he doesn't want money lol
If hes that much of an asshole then he was probably lying to you about something with the vehicle
I didn't cut ties though completely though. From what it sounds like he's having a hard time selling. So maybe he'll backpedal. For the meantime, I'm done.
It's kind of a shame when people are pretty pleasant until things don't go their way.
If hes that much of an asshole then he was probably lying to you about something with the vehicle
I wouldn't call him an asshole but it was more of a passive remark directed towards me. We hadn't even discussed price and I was ready to leave it at that but he pushed for an offer. Why call someone a flake when you were told that they weren't even sure yet? lol
Also, I'm getting a total dudebro vibe from this guy.
So next winter my plans are to supercharge the New Yorker if the stats arnt a lie it puts out a respectable 340 hp and a top speed of 140 mph.
Guys I need recommendations for upgrade parts for my truck. (2006 Ford F150 Regular Cab)
Can anyone recommend a good brand or specific product for the following?
-Grille Guard (Would prefer black, but not adverse to stainless/chrome. Want something that covers the entire front of the truck, not just the radiator grille.
-Trailer Hitch (Class III w/ 2" receiver. Was looking at Reese Towpower, are they good?)
-Cab Lights / Clearance Lights (Set of 5-7, powered LED, amber preferred, full kit if possible. Saw a
set from iJDMTOY that I liked the looks of, are they any good?)
-Intake/Exhaust (Figure an aftermarket air intake and exhaust would help performance and possibly fuel economy. Also I would be lying if I said I wouldn't love a throatier rumble)
-Windshield Visor
-Bed Rails that'll work with a toolbox
I'm also interested in putting larger tires on it but am unsure how I need to approach that. Right now it uses 18" wheels. Do I need to lift the truck to add anything larger? How big can I go WITHOUT lifting? (I may be interested in lifting in the future but not right now, it's probably outside my budget)
[editline]7th May 2015[/editline]
I feel like I'm forgetting something really important that I need to upgrade. What the hell could it be...
I've got my toolbox, I'm getting my bedliner on Friday, I've picked out a new horn, I've upgraded the radio, I ordered the oem cruise control module yesterday what am I missing...
I had to back off the idea of switching to power windows/locks. The dealership near me wanted too much ($1500) to do it. I'm wondering if I could go to a pick and pull and get some doors to a ford f150 that already had it and switch out the internals. Would that work?
Is it a V6? If so, that's what you're forgetting.
Is it a V6? If so, that's what you're forgetting.
Har har har
Yes it's a V6. There's not a huge difference in power between the three engines that Ford puts in their 11th gen F-Series.
The 4.2L Essex V6 I have in mine gets about 217HP w/ 262 lb-ft of torque. The 4.6L Triton V8 gets 231 w/ 293 lb-fit. The 5.4L Triton V8 gets 300 w/ 365 lb-ft.
Sure I'd rather have the 5.4L Triton V8 but I'm not gonna get upset over it. It's still a nice truck, and the V6 gives me plenty of power with decent fuel economy.
You're really going to miss that low-end torque when you put bigger tires on it. You'll definitely want to go for short tube headers and a more aggressive tune if you're serious about that.

Please re-explain these things to me as if I'm someone that builds things out of wood and digs holes in the dirt and grows plants and only knows the basics of how an engine works
Because that's exactly what I am.
Okay so the reason the V8's are so much better than the V6 is because they make more torque at the very bottom of the rev range. Torque is sort of, well, the way I like to put it is how ferociously the engine can apply its power. Installing larger diameter tires on your car has the effect of gearing up your drivetrain. The engine has to pull harder to produce the same amount of motion. Since you have a V6, you're going to notice that significantly more than any of the V8s. So in order to counteract the more your engine has to work, you should install performance upgrades that go for torque more than power.
He could get a shorter rear end to go with the tires too.

Craigslist usually has really bad problems with "testing waters" faggots and people who are interested in nothing but stringing along a seller for a long time, wasting their time and then low balling the shit out of them and then getting angry with them because they won't take $20 for something that is $20 worth of scrap even.
"Kids"(15-20 or anyone younger than me at all lol) who grew up entirely with things like craigslist and facebook already existing usually have absolutely no patience being a seller and expect to have money thrown at them with no effort. Buyers of the same age usually have the previous problems really bad as well. He's probably dealing with plenty of other people who are offering him like 2000-2500 even though he listed it for 4000. There's also like a huge hate for "flakes" when I don't think anyone even understands that a flake is someone who bails on a deal that was planned. It's like a catch all word for someone who is interested in your item for sale but ends up not interested.

The reason the V6's suck is because historically american car makers have always made shitty V6 motors to help sell the V8 motors. 215hp/260tq out of 4.2L is pretty laughable and smog era 302/305 bad, not really acceptable in the late 2000's.

Offer him $2500 for being a dick when he calls you back because he cant sell it lol
We had a car in at school that was said to "wear the front tires a bit"
[t]http://puu.sh/hEJ3X.jpg[/t]
It had a bent tie rod.
He apparently "crashed a bit at only 5kph" :v:
