Have you guys seen Jafromobile's channel? He's got some super technical, yet fun to watch videos. I actually enjoyed watching him show how to do a Stage 1 port on a 16v head.
checked my cars VIN

Well that's weird
id like a v8 240sx... oh wait
Don't people usually check that before purchase? In Norway we can call the equivalent of DMV to get the mileage for every two year since it was registered.
Nearly all of the cars with mileage that's too good to be true are just that.
Or the engine is swapped and I'm being dumb.
You should know better than to try and get a piece of Lignum Vita that big, it's not going to happen. It does - however make great bearings as it makes its own natural oil even after cutting - almost like wax. When old ships had wood dowels and roping for helms, then they used small half round lignum wrapped around it to make a slip bearing.
I would personally use Southern Yellow Pine if we were going cheap - redwood is so soft you can almost chew it to cut it. Wenge, purple heart, or oak is what i would choose.
We built a wood trailer for a boat at one time with wood spoked wheels. I wish I had a picture of it somewhere - don't know what happened to it. It was all white oak and phillipine mahogany with brass hardware.
Also take a look at a Hispanio Suiza, entire car is made of wood. I don't remember if the frame was metal or not.
Bruh, learn your wood. That picture is Quebraco not Lignum Vitae.
THIS is Lignum Vitae.

Also holy shit it's cool to see someone else that knows their wood. What's your favorite wood? My all time is, funny enough, Quebraco. It's gorgeous. My favorite general use wood is Aromatic Red Cedar. Nothing, NOTHING to me beats the smell of cedar wood.

Well, I got the car for a good price. It was in better condition in terms of body (literally no rust) than most cars here for that price. Plus I'm selling the engine soon, so mileage doesn't matter. Could be a mess up though, engine doesn't look like 200k+ miles. Nor does the speedo look tampered with
I was thinking of stripping and twin turbo LS swapping an E31 should I build a road course car. Completely different, and being a 110k car new they have some good tech.

-100k miles... you wanna share something with the rest of us? Do a lot of driving in reverse?

I saw one at a car meet once and the owner explained how the headlight sprayer worked and that one small system was more complicated than my entire Subaru.

I have a few pieces of Lignum. They're about 2" cubes. That's it. My favorite type of wood is Paduuk as far as looks go. When you varnish it it looks like tiger's eye marble.
You also gotta know I'm the resident wood guy in the automotive addicts, as far as I know.
I restore boats, did a stint working on a wooden roller coaster, and I am a Journeyman finish carpenter -local 152 UBOC.

We work mostly with Mahogany. The 30ft Hacker is Oak framed with Genuine Flat sawn mahogany, and the U-26 (non varnished) one is full ribbon cut Phillipine Mahogany. We rebuild them in whatever wood they were built with in the first place, as long as it's still available or something close looking.
I took a break from it about 3 years ago when business was way too slow to do this...

That boat is fucking gorgeous dude. 10/10.
My last project was a stock for a .50 caliber black powder rifle.
American walnut, rough cut into shape, then contour shaved with thick broken glass and sanded. Stained with Red Oak 151 (2 coats), rubbed down with boiled linseed oil (3 coats), and lacquered with a polyurethane finish (2 coats).
How about you make all of your tires be the same tire. Your car is a worse offender than half of all of the wrecking yard mismatched tired cars on the east coast.
While I'd defend myself by saying the tires are from the past owner and its common to have mismatched front and back tires since tire wear, 2wd etc etc. I actually agree and I bet you would love to know that I just got the car a fresh set of Yokohamas, all aligned and shit filled with nitrogen (which is funny because in Malaysia they only do that to high end cars).
I also picked up a set of Sony speakers because the previous owner decided its a good idea to change the head but not the damn speakers.
Gonna pick up some paint and work on the wheels and install the speakers this weekend can't wait
[editline]12th May 2015[/editline]
Oh and I also passed the State safety check.
Which I am proud of because the condition of the car when I picked it up would never pass the test and I did most of the thing (other than the tires) by myself.
So the Supra thing might actually be a reality. I'm going to inspect it today after work!

Do people like not rotate tires at all?
Do people like not rotate tires at all?
rotating tires??? the fuck are you on about...
If you never turn the tyres around on the rim the same bit of rubber will always be touching the ground

What a stupid fucking design for a car.
Wow I'm late, sorry.
It's not that uncommon a design, stupid not to have a jump point though.
rotating tires??? the fuck are you on about...
Since the US only uses one set of tires, they sometimes take them off and move them about to ensure even wear.
Do people like not rotate tires at all?
Well on the case of my car, the previous owner was quite complacent IMO. He's the type that goes "oh its a reliable car I don't have to care for it that much" and skips on regular maintenance. When I got the car the engine oil was 15k KMs old, all of the fluids were below minimum.
I was just looking at the past record and it seems like the rear wheels is 60k KMs old and the front wheels are 30k KMs. Whats funny is that it went into Kmart auto services 4 times since then and all of them had "rotate tires" in the receipt. But judging by the wear (the front were at the indicators while the rear still had like a good 30% remaining before the indicator), I don't think it has ever been rotated. :v: I dont know who to blame here but all I know is I better stay the fuck away from Kmart auto services.

15Mm isn't that bad for an oil change. My car's manual recommends doing it every 20Mm.
I don't rotate them at all because I'm running a staggered setup (9" wide tires and rims in front, 10" wide tires and rims on the rear). And since they are directional tread, I can't just swap sides either.

I feel your pain bro. 10" in back. 7" up front.

a bit overkill on the body parts imo
A: Looks silly. B: He says it's "Not an easy car to drive, not an easy car to own" then cites parking being difficult. What? The Mustang's extremely easy to park, what's he done to it to make it hard?

Calling bullshit, no way can you fit 10" in a stock tub unless you jacked the ass way up

Jesus a twin turbo ls in a little BMW? Youre gonna need to do more than a simple swap. Probably a lot of chassis upgrades. Even the v12 models made less than 400hp and you're gonna be pushing well over 600 if not closer to 1k.
They aren't too small, they weigh 4300 with the v12, 4000 with the v8. I imagine a TT LS1 with a smaller trans and removing all the sound deadening + heavy shit could get it down fairly light.
The cars go for $5000-10000 too which isnt that bad.
