Automotive Addicts Lounge V2- Why we are all broke:
So.. the rim decision is proving to be really, really difficult. Choosing a set for an all red NSX is a delicate process. If it were a coupe with the black roof.. or any other color, we'd be in. Black has a ton of good options and so does white, blue, etc.
But red is such a gaudy color to begin with the contrasts need to be perfect. I'd love gold or bronze, but those only look good on ones with a black roof.
The wrong set of silvers makes the car look like a Ferrari.
So I've stumbled onto these so far;
Problem with the last set, the Work XD9s is that my friend has those on his Subaru I'm pretty sure. That's no good!
The search continues.. I'm still hoping to see a set that I go 'WOW!' with.
That IS how I feel about the Rota Grid / Volk Te37 rims.. but lots and lots of people run those on NSXs and I was hoping to get something that wasn't a 'go to'
They do look good polished, though. I doubt it'd be real Volks because I don't want to get a set of $2k rims and then curb them oopsie.
Also... waaaaawyea

If te37 are in your budget, you should look at some advan model v
Or some mesh rays/volk/work/weds 3pc wheels
Also just torqued and sealed these things, will probably have tires on em friday :)
That will be forever marred by its knack for bursting into flames.
I saw a Pinto at a Ford show. It had a V8 swap and a bumper sticker that read "You can't rear end what you can't catch!" :v:
... My Dad drove a I4 Pinto with a 4 speed in the rookie class at our local race track for several years... Backed it into a concrete wall once and nothing. Granted, that I4 was completely stock... :eyeroll:

What I'd give to have $4600 right now. I don't even care what's wrong with it. '69 2dr Fury is my favorite car, period.
Someone wanna buy this for me and hang onto it?
I know. For me it's not the cash, but the space. I have nowhere to work on a car, but would absolutely love to pickup a dirt cheap small truck and have some fun with it... :/
Clutch, please explain to me how this post is dumb.
Same reason shopping for rims for my NSX is, I'd figure.
If I had space, even with my paltry money reserves I'd probably have 3 Miatas and 2 Rangers by now.
Made my friend really mad the other day. He asked me to pass him his charger and I instead handed him a die-cast model Dodge Charger.
He just said "Fuck off" and left the room.
Same reason shopping for rims for my NSX is, I'd figure.
Well, I mean, you were posting the cancer of the car world- stance. It's reasonable to assume you'd ruin your car with the same style.

Harley Davidson is the cancer of the motorcycle world.
pow pow
If clutch didn't stance his corollabortion, he wouldn't stance a beautiful, near-stock NSX. C'mon.
That will be forever marred by its knack for bursting into flames.
Here's a secret, the whole bursting into flames thing is complete and absolute bullshit. Some random non-automotive news agency caught a story that the gas tank could be smashed open in a rear end accident on the Pinto and decided to smash into one and then blow it up for dramatic effect calling it a reenactment/test or some bullshit.
If you totally caved the rear end through the back seats the gas tank could crack open and leak fuel, like almost any car on the road pre-pinto and still perfectly likely to happen in a serious accident with any gasoline car. It happened to a couple people because the design was slightly more prone than most and anything that can possibly happen will happen to someone.
Cars from back then more often randomly lit on fire due to poor wiring and bad connectors than Pintos exploded.
The Pinto was simply just one of the first steps in making cars into safety bubbles in the next 30 years.

Weren't pre-1968 Chevy Corsairs more dangerous than Pintos?
everything was deadly in the 60s
Wtf you on about the pinto issue was there was no gas tank cover in the hatch so it would crack and ignite spraying inside the cabin. Mustang did the same thing
Why do I want to drive a Pinto more than ever?
"Attention passengers: If you feel you are being sprayed from behind, find an emergency exit immediately and inflate life vests."
Corvairs were very dangerous, IIRC the tailight wires ran like over or right next to the gas tank and it so happened that if you were rear ended, gas would meet live wires, and would catch fire
It would also lift the front end up at high speed.
I really wish our Pinto was ready for the road. It's barely been touched since I tore the carpet out of it a few months ago.
Weren't pre-1968 Chevy Corsairs more dangerous than Pintos?
Most likely, the Pinto was pretty much just an easy punching bag and it seems Ford had some rather "dark" memos which considered making it less prone to catching fire but found it more expensive than the possible result of any suits. I mean suicide seats were a totally acceptable thing at one point too.

Not sure but I remember that all the footage that was blasted all over the TV's was totally rigged because they couldn't recreate it and instead decided to put explosives in it because they couldn't get it to do anything. More Ferraris and Lamborghinis have probably caught fire than Pintos though :v:

besides that 1st s2k he posted those cars weren't even that low, totally driveable. lowered with wheels on it is not the same as ruined.
You disagree so you tell me, have you drove a lowered car? have you used one as your daily driver? Those answers are obviously no.
I do it everyday, beat the piss out of my car as far as driving goes, and live around tons of bumpy pothole filled roads, no issues.
tldr: explain how it is ruined, because it isnt.
Clutch can just say "beauty is in the eye of the title holder"
he can do whatevs to the NSX. As long as it makes him feel better/happy.
I finally replaced the engine air filter in my car.
IT HAS SO MUCH POWER!

lowered 2008 sierra standard cab/shortbed with a 5.3, when i don't take my bike, I take that truck.
The added stresses of having such a stiff suspension on a car with a unibody like the nsx can cause it to weaken over time, and shitty camber can cause a lot of wear on suspension components.
[editline]26th May 2015[/editline]
not to mention, being any lower than they come, it WILL scrape, and rust, and fuck up metal.

shitty camber isnt going to do anything if done correctly, and your chassis isnt going to explode because it has stiff suspension. Im sure your "lowered" truck is what I meant

Actually you make a good point there Ferraris are notorious for random fires which makes it worse than the Pinto simply because for what you are paying it bloody shouldn't go up in smoke.
shitty camber isnt going to do anything if done correctly, and your chassis isnt going to explode because it has stiff suspension. Im sure your "lowered" truck is what I meant
you asked if i drove something lowered and asked why it would be ruined, stop moving the goal posts.
you asked if i drove something lowered and asked why it would be ruined, stop moving the goal posts.
Im not moving the goal posts, you are giving terrible examples or are just dumb.
Obviously I meant lowered to the point those cars were in the pictures you said were ruined, and your other points are not really true. I guarantee that unless your car has frame issues it is going to be fine with stiff suspension. You are talking about what "could" happen and not what happens in 99% of cases. When you add camber to a car correctly, you are changing out a bunch of different suspension components designed to add camber.
Yes I'm dumb because you don't like my answers. Fuck you.

I didn't just say you were wrong, I explained why all your points were bad. You are dumb because of how confident you are in topics you know little about.
I fell asleep on the couch for 2 hours and this thread got good!
Here's some cancer I aspire to. Wheel gap be gone, I'd rather have terminal dermatitis.
