Day #2 of DSM quick repair on the go service. Took a cruise to a town about an hour away for a friend's birthday party. There were a few of us, and one of my friends wanted to drive the Corollabortion, which was cool. I took the NSX and my other buddy drove his Eclipse. It was fun watching my car from the view of another car for once! Got there, enjoyed some hangin out and meeting people, then headed back to town for dinner. Only a couple miles onto the freeway the Eclipse blew a tire, real bad, too. So then we had to ghetto something together. The Eclipse has no spare, the Corolla has a spare that's buried under stereo and the wrong lug pattern anyway, but the NSX... the NSX has a fresh never before used spare that is the correct bolt pattern. However, the NSX also keeps it's spare EMPTY because otherwise it won't fit in the frunk. Filled with air it's a normal tire's size; [img][/img] But empty it fits neatly folded and tucked away. No problem though! Because the NSX has a 12v air pump in it's included tool kit. Also, let's not forget that we got LUCKY and the lug wrench the NSX had fit the tuner lugs on the Eclipse, too. We try to pump up the spare.. but the air pump dies about 5 minutes in, at about 15psi. We need about 30. So we drive another 10 minutes up the road, pay some stupid gas station machine a dollar, and fill the tire. Then drive back Poor virgin NSX spare tire probably worth more than the blown tire is now about to drive 45 miles home. How did it go? Slow, but fine. Here's the bad tire OOPS. Know what happened? We put new suspension on it last fall and he never took my advice and got an alignment. Camber wear is one thing.. but this is an entirely different thing. This is massive toe wear that absolutely could've been prevented. Then I changed the oil in my white car :downs: The end.
Looking for some advice in getting a new car. I currently own a 1991 Ford Laser. It's been reliable but it's not in any way what I could call a good car. I bought it for AUS$1500 4 years back as a penniless first year uni student when all I cared about was something that goes from A to B. Now though, I have a well paying job (for my age at least) and I want a far nicer car. I'm pretty certain I want a Subaru WRX. I should be able to get a good first generation for AUS$4-5k and second generations start at about $6-8k. The problem though with buying a WRX is that so many people fuck with them and it's really easy here in Australia to have your car defected by the cops. I would prefer not to buy one and then find that something the previous owner did gets my car defected. So does anyone know what I should be looking out for when buying a WRX?
Look out for d-bag owners! I think we all have some for of radar and can spot the guy we'd expect to be screwing around with it. Most will brag about their 'mods' whether they're good mods or not. Inspect the engine, look for silly cheap cold air intakes, colored wire loom, aftermarket rims, stickers, zipties, different hose clamps, plastidip (lol), you name it. All the stuff that would signify modding the car on the cheap. For example, I have a friend who bought a WRX and we found many of the engine fluid caps colored with a silver marker (wtf) and ghetto painted interior trim.. that kind of stuff would make me question slightly what happened to the car. And sure enough when pulling some body panels off for some work we found that it had been in some sort of accident, like probably went into a ditch.
So I've been learning to drive stick and getting better and better I guess but jesus christ my nerves while I was taking off from a stop sign uphill with a truck behind me
thats normal i've only driven stick and i live in san francisco, i'll still sometimes just pull the handbrake and tell the cunt 1 foot behind me on a 32 degree incline to fuck right off
Heater core in my golf is leaking :( Rpr costs 400 €. Not sure hm
Heater core in my golf is leaking :( Rpr costs 400 €. Not sure hm
Bypass it, then you can decide if it pisses you off enough to either pay to have it fixed or do it yourself. Either way you save coolant, your carpet and your interior. Just don't wait until winter when you need it :v:
I really doubt that, a lot of spotless licenses get revoked for breaking the distance rule, mainly because a lot of people aren't able/focused to react within those three seconds in the first place.
http://www.nrk.no/hordaland/slik-tar-up-deg-1.11623961
Ligger man mindre enn ett sekund bak bilen foran, deler politiet ut forenkelt forelegg med den faste satsen 5200 kroner. They're also stricter based on the conditions. Your stopping distance is going to be longer in the rain/snow/wet than on dry asphalt, so you could potentially lose it even if you're above 0.5 seconds.
My dad's car has enough torque to start on a 25+ degree incline in 6th gear with no issues at all. In fact, if he starts on a flat surface in 4th, it'll still pull harder than my car in 1st. Torque is such a wonderful thing.
It's not really a stretch. It's one of the reasons buying a used car is so tough in CA. a scanner will not really tell you the sensor is broken. You just replace the sensor and HOPE that it was just the sensor that was broken.
There is a ton of troubleshooting that can be done on the electronics. There is no reason that anyone should ever do a replace and pray.
Saab sprung an oil leak.
my condolences
This is a bit old, but I found the reddit post of RCR's review of Cubemanv2's car. This was his top comment:
I'm the owner, Another forum is claiming i'm some big douche when they know zero about me. The Journal News story accurately portrays my quote and what happened, Where as the CBS Story misquotes me. Images posted here are created by FP'ers to make me look like a douche like the Drive one or etc.
http://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/2tpf6p/ I only started really posting after this happened; was there really any evidence that incriminated him?
Douche might be a bit hard but I can confirm he has a severe case of entitlement and privilege.

Looks like they cost about $400.
pull the handbrake and hold it, ease on the clutch and give some it some gas until the car start pulling itself up the hill, release the handbrake glhf
Some modern cars like my Subaru give you 2 seconds of delay before you start rolling back once you release the brakes.
pull the handbrake and hold it, ease on the clutch and give some it some gas until the car start pulling itself up the hill, release the handbrake glhf
My handbrake is shit and barely does anything :C
sort it out then
yeah it's on the list
Or do as I do. Stand on the brakes, ease out on the clutch until it starts to grip, then punch the throttle.
Or do as I do. Stand on the brakes, ease out on the clutch until it starts to grip, then punch the throttle.
That's about what I do any time I have to drive stick, but being I drive an auto it's not very much and I sometimes nearly stall. In other news, my insurance is up in a few days and I need to convince my boss to let me outta work an hour early or I won't have a car to drive. Oh yeah, forgot to mention (or forgot that I did mention) that I am once again a mechanic, but on the books legit and all. Yay taxes. And then a bit ago I decided that my (own) greasy/oily/gross hand and finger prints on my car needed to go, along with all the dirt and dust built up since the last time I washed my car. Got it all washed and looking better then it usually does and the sky starts complaining about pressure and atmospheric stuff, so I did what any sane person would do. I Rain-Xed my WHOLE car, just fucking everything. Because fuck rain and that waxed water bead look. Just glad I fixed (again) my passenger window before the sky opened up.
I keep ruining my shit [t]http://puu.sh/i7ed4.jpg[/t]
