Don't quote me on this, but I heard from somewhere that Chrome's interface was designed after Mozilla's UX research. And Thunderbird's had that same Australis style for quite some time yet no one threw a hissy fit. Tried it out back when I tested out the Nightly browser. Only real difference is the movement of the Firefox button to the "hamburger menu" (which has been on some ancient GUIs in the '80s).
But I like the new Internet Explorers' interfaces. They really look like they save up some space.
