That reminds me, I have a job interview tomorrow.
Just found out that XYY chromosome is something found in every male of my family since my great-grandfather... This explains so much that its almost hilarious.

Just got back from surgeon for post-op. Told me my recovery is much faster than usual... which is great, so my life won't be hindered for long.

my brother has had a bout of depression so bad that he cannot remember who our parents are, and my girlfriend has had to move away to get a job after a long time of seeing each other almost every other day i am emotionally in tatters, and have chosen this fast thread to write this down as what I am thinking
I saw that new spiderman movie. I never thought I would say this sentence, but I liked the way they used dubstep, I feel it actually contributed positively to the overall experience.
The King of Monsters was all roar and no claw. It wasn't worth the IMAX ticket.
calling the managers isn't enough, apparently i have to physically walk into the store or restaurant i apply at and talk to the manager
To be fair, that's usually a good idea. [editline]19th May 2014[/editline]
The King of Monsters was all roar and no claw. It wasn't worth the IMAX ticket.
Your opinion is wrong.
Your opinion is wrong.
I challenge your statement. I felt that the build up was good (the first hour flew by,) the acting was done well, the special effects/CGI were great, [sp]but Godzilla got less screen time than the Mutos. This worked well for adding to his mystique, as you would see bits and pieces of him as the film progressed. But what of the fight scenes? There was more conflict with the military shooting up in the air than Godzilla himself fighting the Mutos. Also, Godzilla got his ass beat by the Mutos and insta-killed the male in little to no time at all. Also, the female? A little hustle and bustle finished off with an insta-kill from the King's nuke blast. The fighting could have been drawn out more, and the fight in Hawaii felt like a huge rip-off, as it was brushed off as a very short news clip. The roaring should have signified glorious combat rather than some slapping around. The finishing move on the female honestly felt like a cop-out just to finish up the movie with a happy ending.[/sp] The film itself was not bad, but I went there to see Godzilla fight. The King disappointed, and was possibly the biggest cinematic disappointment of the year (especially after the hype it fired up.) To me, at least.
-stuffs-
Well as I found my entire collection of childhood Godzilla VHS tapes this morning and have been watching them all day, I can tell you that the lack of screen time is standard Godzilla fair. In fact ol' Gojira gets less screen time in some of the older flicks than the current film and the fights can be pretty lame at times. Lots of the focus is on the people, who can be complete idiots, annoying, boring, or all three. At least Godzilla 2014's human characters were decent and not total morons like most protagonists in movies like this are. *COUGHTRANSFORMERSCOUGH* Godzilla 2014 is a Godzilla movie through and through. Not as good as Godzilla Versus Mechagodzilla or it's sequal, but that should go without saying. Honestly though, I 100% disagree with the [sp]atomic breath down the gullet finishing move[/sp]. That did not feel like a cop-out to me, it felt like what the whole film was building towards, and I fuckin' loved it. It feels like you went in expecting Pacific Rim rather than Godzilla.
Not seen the new Godzilla yet but yeah I mean in the original film Godzilla gets MAYBE 30 minutes of screentime. probably less. You don't even see him for a good 20 minutes.
I like how they had restraint and didn't front load the Godzilla action. That would have sucked. That said I just didn't feel the pay off was worth it... The CGI was spectacular, but the fight itself left a lot to be desired.
That holds true for the original Godzilla films, and yeah I've seen them, but at the same time it's a monster flick. What are people going to expect at a monster flick? Monsters fighting each other, not slapping each other around for a bit and then having the fight scenes cut short. Although, [sp]I liked how Godzilla finished off the male Muto, even though the fight definitely could have gone on longer.[/sp] Now, I'm not a fan of mindless action in a movie, since that's just plain boring (and enough of it can even desensitize the audience to the action, turning into a common, dull "spectacle" of sorts, i.e. the overuse of lightsabers in the prequel Star Wars films.) But what's an action scene like if there isn't much in it and it feels like it's been cut short? Especially when the audience is going to be expecting something more than what was given. The theater I was in was pretty full, and nobody seemed satisfied at all with the film. Here's to hoping the sequel is better.
Just got a Rubik's Cube. Can I make a Puzzler's Megathread so that we can compare times and talk about the various puzzles such as the Rubik's Cube? Also, this ad above is nuts yet awesome in a classical way.
if you make a thread, the genre of puzzles is called twisty puzzles I'd be down for that thread ALSO I just realized the color scheme on the original rubik's revenge was different huh
You guys wanted too much imo. When you sit through an hour of nothing but people and get somethin like this: You tend to have a lower bar. [editline]19th May 2014[/editline] Also I just watched Godzilla’s Revenge It hurts What the fuck is this movie
I'm not looking for the ridiculousness of those old Godzilla flicks though. If that was implemented into a newer film, it would be one big joke. I want some really good action, but nothing over the top or just plain stupid. Can we please get some revamped combat? Also, if Godzilla and another kaiju duke it out in the sequel, can there not be a scene at the end of it like in Man of Steel? You know the one I mean, where, after Superman saves the city, someone shouts out "He saved us! Our hero!" (or something like that) and then the camera pans over to the utter ruin of Metropolis.

Why does Godzilla’s Revenge exist? I haven't seen every Godzilla movie, but I am going to say without a shadow of a doubt that this is the WORST one. Holy shit

And besides I'm not talking solely about the spectacle of the fight. To me it just felt like "the mandatory fight scene at the end", not a conclusion you were rooting for.

There just wasn't much to it, it was really short, and left me feeling bored. I wanted to see much more, but, I hope the sequel delivers.
I do totally see what you guys mean by the fight should have been longer. I'd have liked it better too, but my bar was SOOOOO low after seeing Godzilla 1998 a few weeks before this one, almost anything could've impressed me so long as the film didn't insult my intelligence. Also a sequel totally needs Anguirus or Gigan or some kind of meaty monster and not some chitinous bug thing. Sorta like the one in the teaser [t]http://i761.photobucket.com/albums/xx256/godzilla98rules/CentipedeMonster_zpsdc954028.png[/t] That'd be great.
I can see that. To me though, it felt like what every bullshit cutaway was building to.
Well it was. But because I really didn't have much stake in the cutaways, I didn't have much in the conclusion. And the way i saw it, all the proatgonist soldier dudes story seemed to be was "I have kid and wife and dead parents and must be in place where monsters are" so obviously there was no worthwhile payoff there. And there was the goofy thing where he was also always like "I am EOD man I do EOD things and am EOD man" [sp]and then just gives up when he had to disarm a bomb[/sp]:v:
