I've been looking into the Metal Gear series. Always wanted to play them. I wasn't a PlayStation person growing up so I never got to try. My only exposure has been revengeance, which I know is 1000% different than the core games.
But they've always interested me, and I so enjoy stealth games. Only thing is I'm wondering what the best way to get the games is. I assume the HD colllection and MGS4 would cover my way up to Phantom Pain? But I don't own a ps3, so I can't play 4. Is it required to understand 5?

It's odd listening to some of these stories, and realize that for gamemodes where the primary goal is to farm printers and shoot shit, you can get some pretty dramatic and theoretical shit out of it.

Since 5 isn't out yet, we don't know how much 4 will be referenced in it. Get the hd collection if you can and maybe try to borrow a ps3 + mgs4 or watch a playthrough. Also, don't forget to play mgs1. It doesn't come in the hd collection though.
Sometimes I feel like people get annoyed when I talk about video games when they're brought up. Like, for Father's Day I bought my dad Diablo 3 and RoS and so i've talked about the ins and outs of some of the mechanics with him and I feel like I bother him sometimes.
But like, I know a lot of things. Like a lot of things and I can carry on a conversation about most of them but video games are what I know what I do best. For christs sake I talked about Pokemon with some friends for three days straight. I have a wide knowledge of the Warhammer universe.
I don't mean to bother, it just happens sometimes :(
