Isn't the response system more of a "mention back" system? I don't use twitter much but if that's the case your profile's privacy setting shouldn't affect it.

So linear algebra. That is a little stranger to do at the same time, but you still need that for multivariable calc (I can't think of an application of diagonalization in multivariable calc but there are certainly applications of e.g. determinants).
