God so I finished Metal Gear Solid 1 today (im currently a few hours into 2, I have finished the prologue and just starting up the main story) and damn it was so so so good?? but I feel I loved it for reasons different than most people? Like Metal Gear Solid is a fucking genius piece of post-modern gaming and a critique of video games overall it fuckin blew my mind several times then looking back at the whole thing I see so much more like the obvious disconnect between the player and snake and how all the characters have hypocritical traits and how the game only really plays like the action game it claims to be [sp]after Psycho Mantis acknowledges the player so the game realises it's a game and starts actually acting like a "proper" video game[/sp]
From what little I know of 2 it is apparently a notably post-modern experience which is great cos I love a good bit of post-modernism :~)

Its gameplay was solid (shaky at parts) and its cinematic prowess and interesting and memorable plot are undeniably impressive but its use of the video game medium is so incredibly smart that if a game came out and did the exact same thing now, 15 years later, it'd be just as innovative. I know the Psycho Mantis fight fucked me right up when I got to it.

my dreams are in the third person and often from a third person perspective in that i have thots on me in my dreams like in the one i had where i got cut in half with a chainsaw and as it was happening and i was watching i was thinking "this is such bullshit"
