The rain is pounding outside my window and a large branch from the old mango tree near our house decided to part company with its former position, and landed with a crash loud enough to raise the dead.
Anyone else feeling increasingly more bored with video games and media in general? Recently playing video games has felt like a chore and I don't see anything else in the near future that would be worth paying money for.
It's called getting old.
It's called getting old.
don't be so naive. thinking video games are limited to kids is getting to be old fashioned
don't be so naive. thinking video games are limited to kids is getting to be old fashioned
I'm not saying they're for kids, it's just everyone I know, myself included, feel less driven to play games as much the older we've gotten. I'll still play them 'til the day I die probably, just not as much as I used to or do now.

They promised us thunderstorms today and we're getting diddly dick.
the prices for video games, accounting for inflation have stayed at relatively the same price and in some cases has gotten cheaper. so they're not really getting more expensive :v:

video games absolutely are getting more expensive, and they stay the same price with digital releases which there is no reason for other than keeping retail afloat

There are certain weeks when I have absolutely no drive to play video games at all. Doesn't really have anything to do with losing interest or growing out of playing them, I just have other things to do or I'm worn out from work. And honestly just like anything else, the gaming industry does have its stale/boring stretches before something new and exciting comes along.

I'll still play them 'til the day I die probably, just not as much as I used to or do now.
This, exactly this, I just feel more and more driven away from these dumb "hardcore" video games and huge overhyped triple A releases. I feel more drawn to more casual shit that is relaxing and fun to play with some friends for maybe an hour or two at the most. On a video gaming side note: The word "Esports" is literally retarded as are a good 80% of the games associated with this "Esports" nonsense. Do you know how fucking honestly stupid it sounds when you have friends making "League of Legends fantasy teams" and bragging about watching hours of some nerd play a moba?
They are when you grow up and have real life things to pay for.
While that may be true, it only seems more expensive next to your added costs. But from a pure price point standpoint, the prices have not risen drastically since the early 90's, they've stayed relatively similar when inflation is adjusted for.
seriously, take some of the prices of an N64 game, or a SNES game or something and put it's price into the Inflation calculator and adjust for today. You'll see exactly what I mean. [editline]10th July 2014[/editline]
I’ve made the argument over the last few years that games are essentially cheaper than they’ve ever been. An NES game in 1990 cost, on average, about $50. That’s $89 in 2013 money. Your $70 N64 cartridges in 1998 would require the equivalent of $100 today. Heck, the $50 PlayStation 2 game you bought in 2005 is worth $60, the exact price of a typical retail game in 2013. This isn't to say that salaries (or hourly pay) have kept up with inflation and the cost-of-living -- it decidedly hasn't -- but it is to say that, dollar-to-dollar over the past 35 years, gaming hardware and software is generally cheaper than ever.
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/10/15/the-real-cost-of-gaming-inflation-time-and-purchasing-power

Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls game by far.

You know those balls that restaurants fill their ball pits with? My mom had a bunch for some reason and my brother thought it would be a good idea to through them in the pool. We started throwing them at each other and our cousins. I have numerous red marks on my back and my head, my right shoulder-blade is sore as fuck and my right arm is very hard to move. That was a great idea.
restaurant ballpits? lucky!
