Well, you can like it all you want, it's no biggie to me but personally I don't like it but it seems that's not acceptable.

Why is Oblivion so low* on your lists? Honestly, I think it was better than Morrowind (gameplay mechanics wise,) and Skyrim (when it comes to the quest lines for the main plot and the guilds.) Skyrim was the prettiest, Morrowind the clunkiest, and Oblivion was just right (although it would be better if everyone didn't look like mutants with their faces caked in make-up.) Now that I think about it, it'd be awesome if there was a Skyrim overhaul mod that lets you play in every period of the Elder Scrolls series. As in, you start out in Arena, then Daggerfell, and every subsequent sequel afterwards. It should have Skyrim's engine and visuals and Oblivion's leveling system (let's be honest, the system in Skyrim was bullshit. Of course, it allowed more fluidity with how you could play, but seriously? One "perk point" every time you level up? I preferred getting multiple points for whatever skills/attributes I would utilize the most)

(opinion alert!!)
oblivion had a fuckload of super bland fetch quests in a super bland bastardization of the lore version of cyrodiil
morrowind had a much more interesting landscape with quests that actually felt fun and unique
oh also it was way too easy to fuck yourself over in the endgame of oblivion because of the way the leveling system worked

Actually Oblivion is regarded by most to have the best side quests in the entire Elder Scrolls franchise.

Certainly better than Skyrim's.
I liked Skyrim but fuck did it have a lot shitty quests and dungeons.

Yeah.
I was about to reinstall and remod Skyrim last night, and then I just was like
"fuck dude, I'm just gonna go do the same quests and the same dungeons and fight the same enemies" So I went back to playing Daggerfall.
Skyrim was a a great game the first time or two, but after a while it got really boring.
Same thing happens to me. I love Skyrim's setting and all, it's a fuckload more interesting than Cyrodil...
But every time I try and get back into it, I go into Bleak Falls and realize that this dungeon is the same exact thing I'll be seeing for the rest of the game.
And then I remember the main questline is garbage...
And then I reinstall Morrowind.

How many "great" and "famous" RPGs are out there that have super bland fetch quests? Pretty much all of them, including Morrowind. Morrowind pretty much fools you into starting a fetch quest before you know it's a quest (*ahem*Fargoth's ring*cough*.) Morrowind had a more interesting landscape than Oblivion, yes, but it's not like Oblivion didn't have fun and unique quests. What level were you when you finished Oblivion's main quest line? Because it's not difficult at all to actually manage the skills and attributes you're investing points into. Unless you just said fuck it and didn't know what you were doing.
Oblivion's Whodunit was a rad quest. I know there's a good amount of interesting quests in that game, but that's the one that always sticks out to me.
i replayed skyrim recently to see if my opinion on it being generic boring trash still held up and it did. that game is hopeless without gameplay expanding mods

I personally thought Oblivion had the weakest story. You didn't even feel like anyone particularly important, most of the quests just had you being Jauffre & Martin's errand runner. The overworld was bland and didn't feel exciting to explore, plus the difficulty curve was broken to point where once you leveled up enough, nearly every random bandit was dropping glass weapons.
I agree that Morrowind's combat was clunky, but it was a remnant of the first 2 games which used sprites for characters and added some depth to combat by having a percentage chance to hit/block attacks.
I couldn't stand basically the entire Skyrim main quest, way too bland and samey.

I disagree about Oblivion's quests, I think a lot of them were pretty enjoyable, but I do think a lot of people don't consider (for some reason) how fucking bland the world is. It's my least favorite because the atmosphere is just so goddamn dull and uninteresting.
I like the quest where that Argonian girl gets captured and you have to investigate this town and find out what happened to her.
I would love to see an Elder Scrolls game by Obisidian.
It'll never happen, but a man can dream ;~;

eh, oblivion's was worse imo.

That's why I use this mod
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19370/?
It adds varied and interesting areas to the game.

Yeah but at least Oblivion had some great faction questlines to bolster it.
Skyrim's were all terrible. Simply the most awful excuse for questlines. Just do three quests and become the boss of everything. At least Oblivion's were a solid length and made you feel like your earned you leadership role.

I think this is the most amount of activity I've seen in a short timespan for WAYT.
Oblivion is my favorite of the modern 3 Elder Scrolls games.
Morrowind is great game, and objectively the best of the three, but it just doesn't do it for me.
Skyrim is just meh.
Oblivion (with the right mods) is pretty much the perfect game for me. It does everything I want from an open world fantasy rpg.
Thanks for letting me know that, Swog.
