The Darkness 2 was rather fun, if short. It's comic book roots were clear from the start (and made blatant at the end when the angel started rubbing her new tits), even though I hadn't heard of what comic it was based off until I saw the end credits.
That British goblin farting and pissing on corpses all the time was probably the weirdest aspect, nevermind the liquorice strings attached to the protagonist's shoulders.

What's the point in remaking Thor as a woman? Why rehash a classic comic book character as a woman when an up-and-coming comic writer/illustrator could be getting their own, [i]new[/i] female character made/recognized on a grand scale in the comic world?
It's a new character, not a gender bender. I don't know why she's being called Thor, but the real Thor is still around, he just can't wield Mjolnir, and she apparently can, so that makes her "Thor" according to the writers.

She's still basically Thor. In the Fem Thor plot, it turns out that "Thor" is now a title rather than a name. There's nothing wrong with there being a female Thor, but come on, can't we get some more completely new characters with new stories and powers?
I don't disagree with you, but having Thor's powers doesn't really necessarily make her just a female skin slapped on top of Thor, she can still maybe be a unique character. Who knows.
I mean, look at Beta Ray Bill. He's another "Thor clone" but really stands separate from him in character.
Problem is, there's already BEEN a Thor Girl, this isn't just some new thing, it's pointless all the way around.
My issue is she is replacing Thor.
If Thor can exist along-side Beta-Goddamn-Ray-Motherfucker-Bill and Throg, why can't he exist alongside Thor with tits?

What will most likely happen is fem Thor will do her thing with Avengers or wherever they're sticking her, and while this is happening Thor will be off either being a rebellious shit or being all soul searchy and sad for a while until eventually he redeems himself and gets Mjolnir back and then Odin will make fem Thor a new hammer and she'll make herself a new identity and get a new series or become an Avengers Mansion D-lister.

Yeah but Thor has been left completely without his powers several times. Like in the movie, him going to Earth as a human wasn't entirely wrong, he was sent to Earth in the comics as Donald Blake, a man with hella amnesia until he found Mjolnir and regained the power of Thor. And that's just one out of several times.

That's basically exactly my point, he's lost his powers before but they're straight up replacing him instead of making a what, fifth Thor clone?

There's no way that [I]won't[/I] be how it turns out though.
Thor will do his little redemption quest and then fem Thor will be moved aside.
Other than the fact that she's being called Thor, which I agree is dumb, this situation really isn't any different from how any of the other Thor clones came to be.
Thor loses powers, someone else gets Mjolnir, Thor regains Mjolnir, Thor clone gets a new hammer.
