Honestly one of the worst films I've ever seen. It's hard to begin describing what's wrong with it because all I can think of is how Ryan Gosling only fucks with his hands, and this is a major plot point.
OGF was massively flawed but good to me. I came out of the theatre feeling pretty ethereal and took a detour walking back to the bus stop just cos i wanted to walk around in the drizzling rain a bit. Magical stuff.
Like it was a very indulgent film and Refn clearly had no limits or anything and just did exactly what he wanted but it was a great trip for me and a brilliant experience of a film that had a fair bit of symbolism which added nice depth to it and made it good to rewatch. made it on the low end of my top 10 of 2013. Far from Refn's best tho. Drive, Bronson, and the Pusher trilogy are all better films to me (people have all seen Refn's newly famous English-language stuff but his Pusher trilogy is some of his best stuff, Pusher 2 is possible a better film than Drive. They're cool as hell gritty gangster flicks and they all own)
